Am I the only one that doesn’t find this dark at all, but rather deeply beautiful and so very soothing?

Never regret a day in your life. Good days give happiness, Bad days give experience, Worst days give lessons and the best days give memories.

My grandfather passed away last year. I remember that day was also a gloomy rainy day. Grandma saw me and whispered, "Grandpa is gone." I had guessed everything, but there was only surprise and confusion. I stood alone in the rain, and the bustling walkers passed by me with umbrellas. At that moment, I realised that countless lives passed away like those raindrops, and what a trivial tragedy Grandpa's death was. But his life and his love for me are as precious as gold in my heart. In the past, when I had a family gathering, other relatives would only say polite words to praise my piano skills. Only Grandpa would sit quietly on the sofa and enjoy my complete song. The golden light of the afternoon sprinkled on his kind face, covering the distant memory with a thick veil. But now, the sound of the piano, grandpa, is not here anymore. It's just that every time I see the dusty piano, I can see Grandpa sitting on the sofa.

What a piece. It makes me feel like this room was once both brightly lit and painted, decorated in pastels and flowers. Filled with memories of a long forgotten time when things were easier. Comfortable. Now this is what is left behind. Melancholic notes dancing on the rain. Something you remember vividly, but remains just out of reach. It's not nostalgia, it's a longing. An absence. An acknowledgment of what could have been.

I don't find the dark academia music to be sad at all. To me, it's very theatrical, personal & moving. The performance is in your mind with the music, not on stage. Whatever you'd like it to be. This piece is amazing. Thank you!

Thank you for this 😭 I lost 52 family members just these past 2 months and I'm 15 trying to get through highschool I get made fun of because I'm a Muslim yet I wish they can live my life for just 1 minute to feel the pain I'm feeling right now 😭 the pain I went through when I was younger the war I saw, family members heads getting cut off, the sleepless nights today the getting called a terrorist even though I'm the one who payed the price of terrorist acts 😭 my entire life is a mess but I hope one day just 1 day I will be truly happy and I hope it isn't in the grave

Just the way I felt about it but couldn’t put it in words…I am longing to be in this place, just the way it is. The loneliness of this place is just so tempting…the dark and cold walls speak so much about the past times…the trees outside are tall and wet, they have seen the young grow old and then die; there’s no soul around to break the silence…it’s just the raindrops outside, and few of them leaking through the ceiling….I know this place so well…!!!

It's rare that I find a piece that can capture the mood I'm in, let alone one that tends to follow me around through life (depression sucks). But this one hits that melancholy drift just right. It's incredible, it resonates perfectly with me, and I'm thankful I found it.

It feels like a gloomy mellow ambience all around. Like a void of something that is just not meant to be filled. But, something that is to be embraced and kept into the warmest of your affection despite the heavy and empty sadness. Like something that bridges sadness and the pleasure of soaking your very soul into sadness. A feeling of being locked in a utopia of sadness and sorrow, enjoying every bit of flavours it has to offer.

Damn, this music just made me remember when I was a kid, back when I was happy, before my depression progressed to chronic/untreatable. That was a pleasant memory. Thank you.

My dad passed away few months ago, so when I think about him, it makes me a bit sad listening to this. nothing can calm my heart when i have a lot of problems except the dark academia playlist, when i listened to this i was crying in my room, having many problems wasn't that hard for me but when i found out that my family doesn't want me, it makes me wonder why my mother had to give birth to me and make me go through this all alone.

I wonder if a mood like this swirled all around Chopin when he composed his famous 'raindrop' Prelude. I think about his life, which was filled with physical pain, and the determination he would have needed to overcome the cruelties of his body and leave his music to the world before departing forever. He knew he would not live a long life. What must a rainy day have felt like for him? Did he ever stay and create in a room just like this? I can play piano some, not well enough for any one of his Preludes....only some pages. To wrap my fingers around the keys, and feel the patter of the 'raindrops' through the strings...yes, it is like and unlike, this melancholy. Light has no nuance, without shadow.

This is almost like the time the school bus has forgotten to pick me up, a rainy late evening, sitting a the waiting shed in front of school. One by one, the students left for home. The sky is darkening, the rain and the sound of water splashing when each vehicle passes by. And I waited and waited, to the sound of rain on the metal roof and on the road. This peculiar feeling of being just there with me and the rain, when worry ceases. I only returned home, returned to the world when my dad realised my absence.

you have just gotten out of school, you usually get out earlier from the rest of the kids since your last periods are closer to the exit doors. but this time, it was different. we had a half day and the schedule was messed up so you ended up getting out late. you walk downstairs and see that only a handful of people are walking and they all have their heads down walking towards the exit door. you then go down the stairs and see that it is raining. you then remember that you had forgotten your umbrella in the classroom, but you think that you can just get it tomorrow. it was raining pretty hard and the buses were just about taking off. you walk in the rain silently and listen to this beautiful melancholic piano and as you are walking, you see a man from the corner of your eye. he begins walking behind you and you think nothing of it. you keep walking and drop your keys from the slipperiness. you take a step back and grab your keys, then realizing you bumped into the man behind you. there is no one else around.. barely any cars driving by. you say "oh, excuse me, I'm sorry" the man grins at you creepily and doesn't say anything. you get startled and keep walking. you begin to speed walk and look behind you.. only realizing that the man has disappeared into the rain. you cross the street and are very paranoid looking everywhere.. you are smart enough to trick the man and walk to a different house, so he wouldn't follow you to your real house. you take a secret path and sprint all the way to your house, you look back and see that the man is back, just standing there, staring at you while you run. you put the code into the door and lock it right away. you take off your shoes as fast as you can and make sure that that all the doors are locked. you then run upstairs and look out your window. the man is somehow just staring at you through the window of your room. you search for your phone through your pockets and realize its not there. you are only home with your grandpa and your father and mother wouldn't be home until the evening. you grab the house phone and call 911. you downstairs into your parents room and hide while talking to the operator. the operator tries to calm you down while your sobbing quietly. you then hear a knock at the front door.. the operator says that its the police. you run out the room and check the peephole and see 3 police officers. they then calm you down and call your parents. your parents rush home and see you. you jump into their arms and hug them very tight. your parents then say " we are taking you to your uncles house, we don't want you to be scared" you were very happy to hear that and your mother and father drive you and your brother to your uncles house to stay their until they find the man. a couple weeks later while you are playing with your cousins and brother your uncle gets a phone call from my father. "the man has been found" The man has been found.

When I played this music, within 10 minutes, it started raining here 😳 it's unbelievable

Gives a whole new meaning to "Piano in the dark"😁, this is nice!

The story I see when I look at the room is of a young man, a young man who sits at the piano in the center of the room, and plays a soft warm melody. A girl dances and twists around the oak floor, her yellow dress fluttering. The tinkling of laughter from the room over accompanies the boy's tune. Stars shine through the windows, and a giant chandelier lights the room from above. Glass shards of another time, the boy would think. The piano sits alone now, no laughter or light to be seen. The colorful furniture has faded to dull shades of gray, and the giant chandelier, once grand, now sits on that same oak floor, broken. The ceiling has gone as well, only the dark, cloud filled sky could been seen above, letting the the cold tears of the heavens fall into the place. The boys sits at the piano once more, but instead of a cheery tune, he plays a melancholic one. A heart wrenching sound fills the air, one of a drowned piano, left to collect dust, but also the song of a broken boy. A song of his heartache, the sound of his longing. Longing for a girl in a yellow dress. A girl who would never dance again. His song finished, the boy would stand from the bench, and quietly leave, his tears unseen. Only one thing remaining as testiment of his visit, a single red rose, delicately placed atop the piano. A testiment of love.
