"No One Else" es el gilipollas celoso-obsesivo que hay en mí asustando a mi novia y "The World Has Turned" es el mismo gilipollas preguntándose por qué ella se ha ido - Rivers Cuomo, dossier de prensa de Weezer (The Blue Album)
Rivers Cuomo escribió “No One Else” sobre una exnovia llamada Petra. Se sabe por primera vez que Cuomo hizo una demo de 8 pistas en agosto de 1992. Weezer intentó terminar la canción ese mismo mes durante las sesiones para el segundo demo de Weezer (The “Kitchen Tape”), pero quedó inconclusa. La canción se tocó por primera vez en directo el 15 de septiembre de 1992 en un concierto en el Coconut Teaszer de Los Ángeles. Al describir el espectáculo, Karl Koch señaló que la canción “empezó a dirigir a la banda en una dirección hasta entonces invisible”. "No One Else" destaca por ser el único tema de The Blue Album tocado en afinación estándar (E); todos los demás temas se grabaron medio tono abajo (Eb).
En una entrevista hecha para Billboard por el 25 aniversario de The Blue Album, Patrick Wilson (Baterista) compartió su opinión sobre la canción:
“Si se publicara ahora, probablemente te harían un “MeToo” tan fuerte que sería increíble. Fue una canción inusual en su momento porque era uptempo. Recuerdo que la odié al instante, probablemente porque no tenía nada que ver con ella (risas). Matt parecía tenerla totalmente hecha. Recuerdo que pensé: “No sé cómo contribuir a esto”. Lo que debería haber dicho en ese momento era: “¡Eh, es genial, me alegro de que tengamos otra canción!”.
