Yet again really enjoyed that one and all the information you gave . Mae Axtons son, Hoyt Axton later wrote, Never been to Spain which is also a fantastic song. Thanks for the video.
Thank you Trey !! I clicked on the link . It was less than a month before my husband was born when Elvis Presley sang at this stadium. It's hard to believe it was that long ago. He's still loved just as much as he was back then. ❤
Just imagine the excitement of that guy (that didn't know who Elvis was) when he heard Elvis for that first time! I think it's safe to say, he was probably a lifelong fan after that! I wish I could have been around back then to experience Elvis's rocket to fame. My mother saw him twice in 55 and 56, when he came to Tampa at the Fort Homer Hesterly. Thank you Trey! Awesome as always!
@@GlobetrottingWithTrey That's great that you'll be coming to Tampa and going to the Armory. Unfortunately, since it's been 65 years, and she was 14 at the time, my mom doesn't remember a whole lot about the concerts. First of all, she didn't have a very good seat, as she was up high. But she could see enough to know that he had on wild clothes and white shoes! She said he was dancing all over the stage and that she had never seen anything like it before. She also said that the screams from the girls were very loud. I think she may have been a bit star-struck and that probably contributes to why she doesn't remember more details. I asked her if she remembered any of the other performers and she said "no, I was just there for Elvis!" She said he had so much rhythm and she was so impressed with his dancing. That's about all I can tell you about the concerts. But, I asked her if she remembered the first time she heard him. She said she was at a hamburger stand, and they had speakers outside. When she heard him, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. He was like nothing else!! She was only able to buy one of his 45's, SUN-Baby Let's Play House. She held onto that record all these years, and finally gave it to my son, who is a big Elvis fan. She also kept her ticket stub, from at least one of the concerts, but sadly lost it years ago. I'm sure you know there are many other Elvis connections in Tampa, so you'll have a lot to investigate. I really do look forward to what you uncover! Here's a video my son made of mom's SUN record. That's my mom in the little picture. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vt-wP6Xn35k.html
@@epgoldenage7049 That's an awesome idea! I don't know if she would do it, but I could see. Yes! She's very happy that my son is an Elvis fan. He made a video of her record SUN Baby Let's Play House several years ago. Here's the link, if you would like to see. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vt-wP6Xn35k.html
Trey, Terrific Work! You NEVER disappoint with your content my friend! ALL your videos are Incredible, they are worth watching multiple times over! TCB
Great coverage of this event Trey. You wouldn't be old enough to remember ,,but can remember for events like this the ol 'flyers' they would tack up on telephone poles,,clear out into the countryside. The print style on all of them were about identical, only changes being the names and dates, location,of course. Thinking back ,not sure what year 'promoters' started getting away from doing this type of stuff? The old audio clip is very cool also. A wonder stuff like this still exists. Thanks again.
