I have heard of this speech by Elvis. I can understand why Elvis didn't want this recognition but accepted it finally...well deserved in my opinion. Great speech !! Thank you Mr. Bill Morris, Mr. Spa Guy and Mr. Trey for another part of Elvis's history 😊. God bless.

Thank you Trey and Billy for the wonderful video!! It truly captures Elvis as a person. Unfortunately his singing career didn't allow for people to really know who he was deep inside. He deserved this award. His real fans knew it too. He was born with a song . God gave us someone very special and we should always cherish him. Rest in Peace Elvis. You will never be forgotten ❤ 🎤🎶🤍🕯

So hard to watch the ending of this speech and not hear "Promised Land" soar off after it! But also so cool to hear the entire speech. I've never seen it......only the edited bits. What a fabulous moment. Thanks, Trey, for this almost forgotten moment in the big spectacle that has become Elvis' life. This really was an important moment for him. Love the work you and Billy do. Really loving season 2 of WCWAM. Always look forward to Tuesday w/Trey. Until the next one, take care.

Another example of Elvis's humbleness. Something today's entertainers lack. Good one Trey.

Elvis also had a beautiful speaking voice. It is great to hear about the guy's who worked for Elvis, the Memphis Mafia, often they are referred to as leeches but better security then the President that's a big compliment, Lamar Fike told they would shield him with their own body, that says enough about their love for him❤

Awesome video Trey, love hearing from Bill Morris. Every time you and Spa Guy interview him I learn something about Elvis I didn't know. And at 44 years old being an Elvis fan all of my life I've always been fascinated with him and his life and tried to learn everything I could about him. Thanks for all the hard work and content as always!

The part where he says without a song is actually taken from a song. Im surprised these guys didn't mention it. Roy Hamilton elvis favorite singer or one of came out with a song called" without a song" in the mid fifties. Elvis quotes the lyrics word for word at the end of his speech. I dont know the composer of the lyrics. Look up without a song by Roy Hamilton here on RU-vid.

@Boxerfan2 Vincent Youmans, whom passed away in 1946 at age 76 ; composed the original song called, "Without a song " for a play named, 'Great Day', with lyrics later added by Billy Rose and Edward Eliscu. It was published in 1929. It has been sang by many artist over the years including Frank Sinatra and Wille Nelson. Elvis also loved classical music. I dont think he was committing plagiarism. I have no doubt he knew the meaning of this song and felt it in his soul and that is why he ended his speech the way he did, leaving everyone with something very important to ponder. Also to let them know how he felt in his heart. Songs are everything to the human mind. This song meant a lot to Elvis otherwise he would have never spoken the words. Thank you for your comment. It forced me to investigate but not because I felt Elvis did anything wrong.

Sorry, but this was first a HUGE hit by Paul Whiteman’s Orchestra with Bing Crosby in lead vocal with the Rhythm Boys in 1930! The incredible songwriter Vince Yoemans wrote it with Billy Rose & Ed Eliscu. I was always so happy and proud that Elvis quoted from it. Was curious who the other 9 winners were so I googled it. Didn't recognize any of them but I did see a list of all -time winners of this award. Would you believe Elvis was not the first "Elvis" to win this award? Elvis Stahr won in 1948 for education. What are the odds that 2 people with that extremely unique name won this award? I wonder what it was like being Elvis Stahr after 1956?😂 Also on the list were Jesse Jackson 1969 and Joe Biden 1974. 😮

Actually Elvis quoted the song from his friends version of the song. According to articles written Elvis quoted from Roy Hamiltons version of "without a song". Roy was Elvis friend. And Elvis sounds like him in many songs. Elvis had many records of Roy around Graceland according to books I have read. Also when Roy passed away Elvis payed for his medical and funeral costs.

@@boxerfan2 I know Elvis loved Roy Hamilton. So do I! (I listen to him all the time.) But, the lyrics were the same whoever sang them. Believe me, EVERYONE (including Elvis) had heard that song and knew it, - way before Roy Hamilton decided to record it. It would have been almost impossible NOT to know it. Roy Hamilton’s version was not ever a hit, sadly.
