@@ionia1572 I'll argue that as bad as that was, Daemon was being honest with his brother. He always has sought the throne for himself and I would guess you'll see him make a dash for it again
@cheesus9512 well he actually said it behind his back and got called out. So he wasn't very honest about it. Also, who needs to be so honest literally hours after the child and wife died. To me, he wasn't the best to his brother but was there when it counted.
His step son,and blood nephew.. Yes there's going to be Hell to pay... Dameyun and our Princess Queen are a powerful twosome The Queen that never was Queen is a formidable Dragon rider too,!! Can't wait for season 2 to start 😵😤😵💫😜
@@V1ert Aegons line is the Targaryen line dummy, he’s not a bastard like the Strong boys 😂 😂 😂 daemon dies and aemon is responsible. An 18 year old punks daemon. couldn’t be me personally
@@justinonespot93 I understand that……fathers, sons, cousins, uncles, having the same names, ok. But for two brothers, even half brothers, having the same name? That’s weird even for the Targaryen’s.
Daemon is arrogant and narcissistic. But, he is devoted to his family. Everything he does, is for the benefit of his family. He had his gold cloaks clear the city ahead of his brother's party, for the safety of his brother's guests. The crab people he defeated, and gave control back to his brother. He killed the guy that called his niece a whore to protect their reputation. Every single thing he does is of little benefit to him, but is of great benefit to his family. He doesn't do it in the cleanest of ways, but he is efficient. That's probably why he is my favorite character so far.
Daemon had no patience for day to day governing. He served as Master of coin for a year. Then as master of Laws for 6 months before he was assigned as commander of the city watch. Stuff like that bored him.
@@philippeblais8594 yes and no, keep in mind that he had a strong political opponent in Otto Hightower, and it was explicitly stated he kept convincing the King to move Daemon through different positions in court so as to not let him create a powerbase or reputation in one, all because he personally loathed Daemon and saw him as the second coming of Maegor, so he wasn't running through different jobs as much as he was forced to cycle through them, the one he DID want he never got, that of Hand of the King. Said observations were not entirely without merit, even if exaggerated based on personal animosity, but they do color the recounts of Daemon's history in court and thus make for an unreliable narrator as well as taint other influenced people's testimony. Note that Daemon was, by all accounts, a good commander of the city watch, who whipped them all into shape as a respectable and recognizable law enforcement force, to the point most of them were personally loyal to him and the city DID saw a decrease in crime during his somewhat short tenure. Even if it was kinda brutal.
@@maxi1ification Well yeah. Otto certainly provided biased reports to say the least. And he thrived as commander since it let him do what he does best. Violence.
Lets not forget they filmed a whole sequence of Daemon walking on the beach weeping and in despair over the loss of his child and they decided to cut that out and make it so he just reacts that way when he finds out about the secret his brother never shared with him. They also had a scene where he was comforting his daughters after Laena's death
I was on the fence at first but with all of the deleted scenes I'm positive Daemon's been written this way on purpose. He's the only one who wants war while everyone else is docile and it's simply not true. They've vilified him beyond repair for absolutely no reason at all. Daemon isn't what one would consider a "good man" but the fact that he just seems like a pit bull for Rhaenyra with nothing to offer outside of that cheapens him. He is a plot device at this point. They seem to forget you can have complexity and still be liked. Jaime Lannister is a very good example. I, honestly, loved Jaime from the moment he was introduced even after he pushed Bran from a window. There's something cathartic about honest characters in a sea full of fakes, I like them more and for me Daemon is written that way. Like, why should we have to ask if Daemon loved his own children, and even Laena? He's written so terribly that you can't tell.
They didn’t want Daemon but to be clearly so likable and vulnerable, a huge aspect of his character is how he was sort of two people depending who was looking, a hero to some, a monster to others. The scenes they already had were enough and showed his love for his family, but those scenes would have made him a bit too sympathetic for the character
Daemon may be a wild child. But he loved his brother with all his heart. He would always watch his brothers back. He'll be the one to avenge him. His voice when he asked how he died. Broke my heart.
The way viserys let's his brother help him to his seat and fix his crown really gets me. Viserys refusing help until he sees it's him. Shit makes me tear up.
This is why I love Daemon. At a glance of many of his actions you’d cast him as a heartless evil character But along with that, you have to admire his bravery in battle, and love for his family.
Fun fact the scene of Visery’s dropping his crown was completely by accident actors Matt and Paddy completely went along with it and he put his crown back. I personally like it as it shows how much respect Daemon has for his brother
Daemon may be an unpredictable sociopath with anger issues and an intense desire to being the center of attention but he definitely always loved and cherished his older brother. Also, I just really love how Daemon's love language is forehead touches. It's pretty adorable.
I really love the scene of Daemon helping Viserys up the steps and then crowning him. It really shows that despite Daemon and Viserys being at odds most of the time, he truly does love his brother.
Viserys just should make Daemon King's Hand and marry his Daughter - Rhaenyra for him as soon as possible. All Dragons could survive and Targaryens would rules more centuries.
There's a reason Viserys didn't name his brother his hand or his heir.. Daemon wanted war and joined the war at the stepstones for his own satisfaction and he was the only person who wanted war even before the dance began.. Daemon is too ruthless and thinks that everything can be dealed by striking fear with violence(same as Maegor).. Daemon not becoming king or the hand was for his own good, he is one of the most badass targaryens and is well remembered in westeros and his line survived but if he was in some position of great power he would've been just another Maegor
You forget he was also convinced that they were poisoning viserys with the milk of the poppy and keeping him bed bound, but you're right he was also unwell
I'm a bit of a nutcase, and yes, I've been an arsehole more than once ... Back in the 1987, or '88, in High School, right before a physics class, a 'classmate' decided to take the piss out of my severely disabled sister, about whom I used to talk about, and how I can't imagine my life without her. I don't remember much because everything went dark, like beyond red to almost black. I'm short (5'2" at 48), so imagine how short I was then. Yet, decades later, having met up with old class friends, one recalled two of them had to use a fair amount of strength just to hold me back. They had never seen me that angry before, especially when I wanted to wrap one of those heavy timber labstools we still had back then, around that moron's head. I'm not proud of that, and hated having such an explosive temper when pushed too far. ... but the funny thing is, though I was still bullied, no one dare mention my sister, in bad terms, to my face, ever again. It was like word had gotten out: mock his sister, to his face, and he'll go psychotic on you ... [I would say like a Joe Pesci character, but I can't remember a film he was in of the late 1980's ...]
Paddy Connington is a 10/10 actor. his portayal of Visyerus was on par with Charles Dance's portrayal of Tywin Lannister. Just amazing acting and dedication to their roles
He was a lousy king this is why there’s a war he did not know his ppl he did not know his family he should had married rhaenyra to Aegon so there wouldn’t be a session problem he married his daughter’s best friend he didn’t defend his son when he got his eye cut off shoulda controlled daemon more instead of taking away his royal rights made him hand to the king, shoulda stopped the bullying of Aemond, shoulda punished rhaenyra for having kids who were obviously bastards. Anything else? He sucked as a king and father and brother.
@@therealhound3977 1) He loved his brother, dearly 2) He never trusted the Hightower family 3) Anyone who screws with his family signs away their wavier to like
@@garrisonjones1827 exactly none of those things are bad at all Any Man who Loved his family would be the same. He's a wonderful character with wonderful writing by grrm. Excited for season two . And for the return of the true king of westeros Jon targeryn . I no longer call him Jon Snow because that is not his name.
its a subtle relationship for a fair part of the season, that the reason Daemon doesnt go FURTHEr to undermine Viserys, is that he doesnt WANT to undermine his brother. He loves him, all else aside, and while Daemon thinks hed be a stronger king, is entirely unwilling to TAKE the throne from his brother, because of that love.
Daemon is not a gentle man, he's not a weak man. He was some times brutal, without mercy. But family was sacred. And he loved his brother, even with their fights and all.
I believe what deamon truly wanted was to be recognized and respected by his brother, the same way his brother recognized and respected Hightower and strong.
Daemon the guy that everyone thought would be a bad guy turned out to be somewhat good. Never desired the throne only we've wanted to be his brothers side. To be close enough to protect his brother even from himself. Wanted his brothers approval more than anything and when he didn't get it he lashed out he did things. But his skill for redeeming himself got him only half of what he wanted.
Daemon might be crazy but he always had love for his brother. Never any treachery. Loved the scene when Viserys sits the throne for the last time and is struggling to even get to the throne and it is Daemon that appears behind him to help him up the steps. Not Otto, Not Rhaenyra, Not Alicent. But Daemon, the brother he sent away from Kings' Landing and gave his right to the throne to his daughter instead.
Whatever issues they had, it was always between them. I'd say they never outgrew their childish squabbles. They argued like little kids but it was always banter. Like siblings do.
Mad respect for Daemon and Aemond. I don't know who I like most. Though Daemon kills Aemond and also dies with him, they're both wild cards, who bicker amongst their own immediate family, but literally will do anything to protect them. Can even see both their faces showing slight smirks of admiration towards each other. Respect, yet still enemies. Daemon wishes he was his son, while Aemond wishes he was his father rather than the feeble king.
Daemon loved his brother, he could’ve easily taken the throne if we wished. The scary part in season 2 is Daemon truly believes his brother was murdered by the hightowers and he’s out for blood.
I have only one sister, and that hurt me too ... She is younger than me, but her disabilities means I will outlive her ... burying her will be the worst day of my life ...
When I read the book, and watched the show, I never really got the impression that he particularly loved his brother. It always felt to me more like he LOVED “rocking the boat”. Like even when he helped Viserys up to the throne, it seemed more like he knew Visarys was about to rock the boat, and he was gitty for it. Just one example, but it always felt like that to me, in pretty much every instant that could be construed as him showing compassion. Like he was mad in his own way.
