In case anyone wants to know, it’s the Houghton Belaire 3400. I think they were a little over excited they failed to verbalise that bit!

Very "cool" option. We'll likely need the AC more often than not in Florida (when plugged in or on generator). We'll see how the Dometic does, but might touch base in the future for this upgrade. We're ready to head back to Utah to do some sight-seeing and off-grid living. Thanks for the video and always looking for ways to improve the product!

I like the L.E.D. display of the temperature on the newer AC. I agree, that Black Series will need to send RVofA the Shell, because all these upgrades are incredible!

I just installed a RecPro 2801 ( 9500BTU, $1100 ) on a 2012 Keystone Springdale 179. My roof is 5" thick, so I needed the thick roof kit, which worked fine. It's little tricky to change the duct to the longer one, make sure you screw it out in the correct direction, which was clockwise for me. Otherwise, you end up tightening it and it's very difficult to remove. Putting the new one on is a little tricky, but after a few tries I got it. My old AC was a Dometic Brisk II. This new one is dramatically quieter. However, I hoped to run it off a single Yamaha EF2000is ( 1st generation), and it did not work. Later I took the cover off and found out the "locked rotor amps" is 52A! So, there is no soft starting in this thing. At least it’s less than the 62A of the Brisk Air. Looks like mounting a SoftStartRV will be tricky, I might do it. Have to mount it under the outside air fan. I suspect they say "does not need a soft start" because it does not have a loud "thump" when the compressor starts. A soft start can fix that with any AC. The reason this one does not thump is the excellent mounting of the compressor on springs that isolates it from transmitting compressor sound to the RV. When I saw that SoftStartRV has a wiring diagram for this unit, I knew it must need a soft start. I was able to measure the inrush current with a special meter, and it showed 48A, close to the 52A on the label. So far, the highest running current I have measured is 6A, but others have reported 9A. Unfortunately we have had a very cool summer so far, so I have not had a chance to see how well it cools our small 18' trailer. But, the prior 13500BTU unit was clearly far larger than needed, so I am confident this will work fine.

On my unit the heating function stops working at temps below I believe 57F same for this one ? Not that I need when it’s 57F colder yes 👍 As always great video and keep driving the bus 🚌 to the next level!

The extra clearance for more head room is huge! Love the AC upgrade! I'm still going back and forth between the Xplore XR22 and HQ19T. I didn't like how low the ceiling was in the XR22. I've haven't been in the HQ19T yet. Curious what your thoughts are between those two units. Being able to haul a quad is something we want. We're looking to buy one within the next year or so.

Favor to ask. Very helpful video btw. Does your Houghton AC run the fan continuously when powered on regardless of compressor running? (meaning it doesn't turn on/off with desired set temperature) And, have you encountered any humdity issues where the unit may keep things cool, but not control humidity well such as in southern climates where it is hot and humid at night perhaps? Thank you.

The Houghton unit I bought rocks. It is silent and works great in my 30'. The model I bought listed auto and dehumidifier! Neither of those features work on my unit

Do you need a generator to run this, or can it run off of the four installed batteries? We're planning on spending a lot of our time offgrid in southern Utah, so having AC would be nice without the need to run an external generator.
