G'day Guys! One of the main reasons that 24 hour fast food is a rarity is that here people have to be paid properly...Our minimum wage federally is currently $23.23 per hour or a little under $15 US and casuals get an extra 25%. there are also penalty rates for working late eg:- for 10 pm to 6 am there is an extra 15% loading...So it is just not profitable to stay open except in high traffic areas...barefoot? well folks here have bare feet at home all the time and many but not all don't bother to put shoes on when popping out to the shops... Cheers!

I live in Mildura Victoria and we're Rural here and we have a 24hr McDonalds (midnight - 6am drive thru only). Hungry Jacks which I'm learning is the equivalent of Burger King, same logo and all and they are open until 11pm. Our Coles supermarket closes at 11pm 24/7 and Woolworths closes at 10pm 24/7. And then we have one or two pizza places that close around 10 - 11pm. Maybe it's just Victoria 🤷

@@Anonamiss782 Victoria had good shopping hours. It is much more restrictive in Western Australia. Eg Major supermarkets close at 5pm on Saturday & Sunday. The are open to 9pm Monday to Friday. MacDonalds is often open 24/7; as are some petrol (ie gas)⛽️ stations.

As an Aussie Sheila, I’ve gone barefoot all my life & am as healthy as a Malley bull (70 plus years). The only time I wears/wore shoes was to enter & depart my employment building or clubs, I didn’t even wear those things on my feet at my wedding.

We've never had a 24hr retail culture partially because of the high wage atructure, and partially because of population density or lack of. Most large shopping centres are open 7 days a week but not late into the night. In large city centres there are hospitality places that are open very late. And late night food vans that catch the party crowds. MacDonalds are the only fast food chain open 24/7. In the suburbs and regional areas the local supermarkets are most likely open til 7 or 8pm and fast food or local take away places maybe open til 8 or 9. But we dont expect anything different and you just need to organise yourself to get your shopping done. And being able to go out at 11pm just to get a donut isnt really a life necessity. You dont NEED to do that. Its just a convenience thing. As for bare feet. Absolutely. All day anyday except if its freezing cold or I have to go "out". Streets are pretty clean. Ive never heard of anyone getting worms thru the skin on their feet. I think thats a 3rd world tropical thing. Nothing like the sand or grass between your toes. Or even mud. Its very common up north where its hot or on the coast. Not as common but not unusual in the colder southern states where I live. Grew up in the suburbs, barefoot, along with parents and brother, and neighborhood kids, with minimum requirement of wearing thongs if leaving the house to visit friends, go to the local shops etc. More unusual to see people in closed in shoes in summer. Only reserved for more formal occasions when you have to look and behave properly. 😁

It's not just Australians that like going barefoot, New Zealanders also do. I lived there for 3 years, and remember being instructed by the school principal at our initial interview that the children needed hats and shirts/thirty with sleves to protect them from the sun, but that shoes were optional, so kids could go to and from school with no shoes. Granted it was a school in a ruralish area, but it still caught me by surprise as in Australia primarily and secondary school children have to wear a uniform and that always include footwear.

I'd agree - it's definitely the exception in places like Sydney. Almost everyone wears shoes. Perhaps if you were right next to the beach, people might walk into a take-away or cafe bare-foot, but even then, in summer concrete and asphalt get too hot to walk on comfortably. The idea from some videos that everyone in Australia is walking around everywhere bare-foot is wildly exaggerated.

I live in Melbourne and I have to say, in all my long life, I've perhaps only seen 1 or 2 people walking barefoot. In Queensland, maybe Darwin, it's probably more common because of the heat. As for the swearing? Most of the Australians I've met are very gentile people and if I met some foul mouthed Aussie making a spectacle of themselves, I'd definitely disassociate myself. I'm sure if you're a tourist, you'd probably run into people like this more frequently than you care to, but then, you're probably in Queensland.
@juli-annb.anderson8816
@juli-annb.anderson8816 11 месяцев назад
@@TheDemouchetsREACTI think it depends where you live. Probably cultural in hotter states, but not necessarily. Possibly because a lot of kids grew up rough and had a lot of freedom. Poverty would also have had a part to play in it, only having one pair of shoes or no shoes at all. If it's a preference for people to wear no shoes, it's probably been passed down from previous generations.❤
@jessbellis9510
@jessbellis9510 11 месяцев назад
@@juli-annb.anderson8816 It's pretty common here in WA. Of course not so much in the fancier suburbs. I've heard that Melbourne and Sydney it isn't that common, but pretty much across the rest of Australia going barefoot isn't unusual. It's definitely not too common in the cities, obviously.

By Hot Christmas, we mean 40+Celcius with 75%+ Humidity. (So think 104-113F) If you want a 24hr place, 9 times out of 10 it'll be a drive-through, Maccas or Hungy Jacks (Burger king), Which MAY be open 24/7, if it is it MAY be drive-through only for a few hours during the night. 7/11 similar, though may be external counter-service for a few hours during the night. You see bare-foot in the regular shopping centres isn't that common, outside of living near the beach. Thongs however (Flip Flops) Are normal as hell. Ketchup and Tomato Sauce are different things. Ketchup has a lot more sugar.

Now after being in the workforce for years in safety boots and gloves my feet are soft as a babies bum and my palms are like my Grannies. Not everybody swears, or drinks booze all the time. If you don't want to pay for sauce everywhere, get a large refillable one at a supermarket, and keep it in the car in an esky. They do sell mustard and ketchup too. We take sauces to bbqs all the time. If you have a bunch of kids, that will save you a lot. If you really love your coffee, like a lot of aussies, get a machine for at home. Or make instant coffee yourself, you only need hot water. As for late night snacks, put some frozen chips, fish, frozen pizza, meat pies or sausage rolls, in your oven, or the air-fryer, or nuke some cold pizza, or cook up something from scratch, you can eat whatever you have, as long as you're awake. No need to go out or have a delivery. We also can do magic tricks with a sanger toaster, savoury or sweet. Blend up a smoothie, and you're laughing. Do you have a pet? Despite your best efforts at pest eradication, your pet can still give you worms, which you can eliminate by taking medicine to kill them, every now and then. So your problem with bare footedness, is not really such a big thing. Your feet are much healthier for being free of constriction, for long periods. If you want socks? Pack a few pairs, or wear boots with them. I always take my shoes off on an airplane, or on a travel train, I wear chrocheted slippers. I don't like keeping shoes on long enough to get smelly feet.

The shoes thing is a big QLD thing, don’t get me wrong it happens everywhere else, but in other states it’s a more of a ratio of how far away from the beach you are, th further away from the beach then more shoes are worn. Also ppl don’t tend to just use swear words with a new introduced person, and if they find out that you’re new to the country they’ll be careful with the swearing (especially the c word which is a proud reclaiming of the word) until they know you better and want to introduce to the lingo, unless of course you piss them off in traffic 😊

If we had 24 hours fast food , we might gain more weight. Keep healthy🤣 . Have some fruit go and grab a mango off your mango tree. Lol Do you think Americans are bigger because fast food is available 24-7.

You do not helmets when playing AFL it is the most watched sport in Australia one hundred thousand spectators at a finals match! Have you even done research or watched a match. You are commentating as in Northern States. Melbourne has won No 1 the most liveable city in the world 7 times in a row.

He’s backwards on the footy… Aussie rules is by far the biggest code… Only nsw and qld give a shit about rugby of either kind. And only qld has more rugby supporters than afl… and even that’s debatable

NSW definitely has way more rugby supporters than AFL supporters. AFL is a minor code there. Everyone into football follows rugby.
