There is no true blue Aussie that wouldn't get a tear in their eye when hearing this song. (As well as "i am Australian") we dont get all patriotic hand on heart, normally ... But we do feel pride, when we hear our unofficial anthems, like this one.

This was re-designed for when the Australian borders re-opened after COVID closure. It played on the QANTAS (Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services) planes returning to Australia. Coming into Sydney at night with this playing, the Aussies who had been stranded overseas for months to years were in tears.

Im a British Jamaican and I moved to Australia 6 yrs ago with my Aussie hubby. I’m now an Australian citizen living in South Australia and let me tell you, I LOVE LOVE AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺 This is my country now and if you and when you come here, you will NEVER be disappointed! This place is magic and I’m so blessed and grateful to be here! PS - I now have a little Aussie boy too. It amazes me every time I hear his little accent! It’s so stinking cute 😂

I was in LA when COVID hit, I was stuck there for 2 years and when we finally boarded the plane to come home, we taxied down the runway while we waited in line to take off they played this over the loud speaker, everyone instantly hushed and omg I burst into tears along with most of the other passengers. It felt like we were home already and we hadn't even taken off yet!! 🥰

I’m Australian, I live here. It’s my home. I’ve heard this song a thousand times. Yet I still got teary hearing this. It just.. gets you right in the heart every time. It’s like it’s imbedded into the DNA. This and ‘I Am Australian - the Seekers’ Thank you for doing this ❤ Also there are several versions of this but you see the flight attendants because Qantas did an ad for this - good pick up!

I lived from NY to TN in the USA for Several years, & as much as I love the USA hearing this Song before departure every time stirred all the emotions held in our hearts while away from home. This song really captures the spirit of Australia - we travel all around the world, but love coming home. Pitjantjatjara is just one. Seriously have you even met an Australian Aboriginal person who can speak their dialect fluently??? Please come to the NT and you will soon hear the difference between each spoken Australian Aboriginal language.

Oof this got me. I'm Australian, living in Chicago a few years. Even though I've made my life in the US after marrying an American, I always refer to Australia as "back home". Did not expect to end up with a flood of emotion and tears when hearing this (it's the first time for me hearing it here), as I've never been particularly patriotic. I could say that im proud to be Australian but it's no big deal. Thank you for appreciating our Indigenous peoples the way you did. The history of erasure at the hands of British colonisation is just as bad as what British colonisation did to the Indigenous peoples of North America. I love this song, it was written in 1980 by Peter Allen, who despite not always being treated well by his home or even some family, always held pride and fondness for his beginnings and country. There's nowhere else on Earth like Australia because our continent split off from the rest of the world forever ago, so most of our plant and animal life is unique. I've travelled a bit and there is always a point where every one of my skin cells and my entire body longs to be home, to smell it, feel it, be immersed in it. This song not only makes me feel proud to be Australian but an Indigenous Australian. Aboriginal Australian is accepted but most prefer Original Australian. I get goosebumps and tear up every time. I love the unity and diversity that this video represents. I'm an english-aboriginal who only recently found what her tribes were. For some reason, my mother who is the aboriginal one decided to not tell me anything and only talked about it after disowning me. Thank you so much for being so respectful to my culture. It hit hard that my own mother didn't respect our culture enough to teach me and my siblings about it, so thank you so much 😊❤️

A few years ago I spent 12 months living in USA and one day I was driving from Florida back to Augusta. I had a cd on in the car I make before I left home and one of the songs on it was I still call Australia home. Needless to say as an Aussie I missed home and when the started play in the car I burst into tears and realized how fantastic my home country is and missed it. However I did enjoy your country but after hearing the song I couldn’t wait to step onto Aussie soil again 😊

I’m Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, you can say Aboriginal or Indigenous 😊. Indigenous is usually a collective term for both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (two, quite distinct but also both, Indigenous cultures). Or we also go by First Nations, much like Native Americans, when we talk to international people. So when I talk to people from overseas I usually say I’m Indigenous Australian or First Nations Australian, when I talk to people from Australia I will say I am Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. It’s usually easiest for people to understand this way. The person you did see in the beginning of the video was an Aboriginal (or Indigenous) elder 😊

This song was written and performed by singer songwriter Peter Allen. A wonderful talent from Tenterfield, Australia. He married Liza Minnelli and there is a broadway show about his life. Check it out. The song Tenterfield Saddler is one of the most heart warming bio songs I ever heard.

this is a throwback to an old Qantas ad where they used the national childrens choir to do the song, and it's stuck with generations. Now this version was filled with a lot of legends like Kylie and Hugh Jackman, then new famous crew like Troy Sivan. Was a great tribute to the original. And post covid, where people could start coming home that were stuck overseas..... tugs at the heart strings

Yeh..l still cry when l watch this one .. its so beautiful .. and l'm not even Australian, although l have lived here for 40+ years and fully appreciate this beautiful land and its people. You should watch 'We Are One' when my granddaughter would hear it as a toddler she would RUN from wherever she was in the house to watch it on telly .. her face a picture of total awe and devotion.

The dancers in the dessert are from Bangarra Dance Theatre, a contemporary dance company that integrates Australia's First Nations culture and dance with modern dance. They are the BEST. Absolutely stunning

Thank you for reacting to this...because I hadnt seen it! This is a newer version from Qantas, they originally did one in 1998m then another 2009 I think. Quite different, but essentially similar themed. I adore the one with the choir travelling all over the world...especially great wall of china. This one is definitely updated, and I like it. I have to admit, it brings a tear to the eye and I also associate Qantas with home. If Im travelling overseas and Im flying Qantas, I feel like Im home as soon as I get on that plane. It was a real stroke of genius for Qantas to identify themselves as THE Australian airline and stand out from the rest.
