Pica in Portugal, has many meanings. It can also mean, 'dxck' and 'vaccine' (injection/shot). Bicha can also mean a queue/line

Yes, it depends on the region of Portugal. I've heard that old people from the interior still use bicha in a “queue” meaning.

Cassete can also mean cassett tape in Brazil too, but the pronunciation is a little different

G'day! When I worked in Brazil in the late 70's I asked in a department store to buy "albums cassettes" and was politely informed that I should ask for "fitas". Cheers!

@@junniormattos1 maybe it's because he was saying "albums cassettes", I grew up in the 2000 but I still remember those and we called them "fitas cassetes" instead. If he said album back then I'm sure we would think of a photo album and not a music cassette.

In Angolan Portuguese we have a lot of similarities, but our Portuguese is closer to European Portuguese. We do consume a lot of the Brazilian culture, like music and soap operas.

In Brazil we change "pica" meaning full of energy for "pique", it's common to say: "Hoje estou cheio de pique para correr" meaning "Today I'm full of energy to run".

As a Brazilian now living in Colombia is also funny seeing the same words now in Spanish meaning other things. Propina here is a money tip. Illegal money is soborno and we also have this word in Portuguese, suborno. Same meaning. I love to learn those things ❤

"pica" in Brazil means "dlck" but it is also a slang used mainly in Rio de Janeiro that means something/someone is "very cool". "The Demouchets channel is pica" -> "The Demouchets channel is great/very cool/awesome"

Rola also a type of bird in Portugal like a low lvl specimen similar to pigeons, I am full of pica(energy) to hunt some rolas (birds specimen that some people eat) then I will take kids to take a pica(vaccine) in the hospital... how a Brazilian would understand this... it is scary ._.

We have a type of bird in Brazil named rola too, they are a little pigeon-like-birbs, so we call them rolinhas bc they are small. We often joke about it when we see them on the street "oh look, your rola has escaped" or "there are so many little dicks(rolinhas) around here" lmao

rola is also a bird in Brazil, I guess the difference is we use animals for euphemisms for genitalia. So rola, pinto and other regional words are for the male. For the female genitalia there is periquita, perereca (a kind of tree frog), and probably other words as well depending on the state.

"Bicha" in Portugal can also mean a queue/line and even a hose, although it is very rare now.

@@longatti That's the true meaning of the word. Worms, snakes, a female bug. All the other meanings are just slang. You are probably from northeast, in Portugal what reminds a snake can also be call like that so queus, hozes, etc

Rapariga it's literelly the feminine of rapaz (boy) Canalha only has that meaning in the north of Portugal, Bi... is a female bug or snakes, worms and anything that resembles a snake like a qeue of people. All these meanings in the video are just slang, in the diccionary in formal Portuguese in both countries they have the same meaning

People in Brazil don't use formal Portuguese like that. If you call somebody's daughter Rapariga, it's on. In the North of the country you're done. 😂

Rapariga had the same meaning in Brazil as in Portugal initially, but for some reason took on a negative meaning. Pretty sure canalha is used everywhere in Portugal but the meaning depends on the context

I'm from Porto and I use canalha as in children a LOT, but it was something that I got because I grew up very close to my mother and grandmother, so I definitely picked up on a lot of their sayings. Not many peers of mine say it
