Actually he meant like "Whisper" or unclear words. Like when you joke with a close friend with words that have no meaning. Or when you get close to someone to whisper in their ears. Most whispers are not clear after all.

One of the most iconic arabic songs! The Lyrics are 1400 years old, written by the Yazid I, was the second caliph of the Umayyad Caliphate and number six in all arab caliphs. The music is a pure flamenco, Blas Infante in his book Orígenes de lo flamenco (Origins of flamenco). According to him, the word "flamenco" was derived from the Arabic terms Felah-Mengus, which together mean "wandering peasant", and thought that the Flamenco is originated in Andalucia where the arabic civilization began the Guitar journey with Al-Quithara Instrument ( today known as Oud intstrument) The Composing is based on “Saba” musical scale, which is one of many major arabic musical scales. The singer is Master in the long-breath songs which is milestone in the eastern musical songs known as Mawaal. Love it, love the history and every single detail in it

To explain the line of verse that u mentioned it. it’ a bit difficult but I’ll give it a try The verse is here. “ I feel jealous of her mother and father, when they say her mumbled words” The poet here is exaggerating of his love to his beloved. The massive and unlimited love to her was indescribable. He get jealous of everything that can touch her from the clothings to her parents. he doesn’t want anything to even come to close to her. Obviously when he says that words just imagine he only watch her far away never met her he’s suffering to death but to see her. So referring to that verse “ I feel jealous of her mother and father, when they say her mumbled words” imagine that and when I say imagine I mean it otherwise u won’t understand the poem. Here is a scene the poet get mad of his jealous when he sees in front of him her parents mumbled to her “to his beloved “ in a soft way like whispering to her some words he wish to be in this place even if for a second but he couldn’t. So nothing he can do but getting jealous. To shock u guys most of the classic Arabic poem especially the romantic one is not real the poet just use his imagination of his lover and indeed no such exist. Get drunk and imagine and write a poem. :)

The part you did not understand was mistranslated . I think the translation should have used the word envy instead of jealous. Jealous is a strong word. Basically what it meant he envies her parents because they talk to her all the time and he is not. Also he envies her clothes because they touch her body and the cup she drink from because it touches her lips. The envy here is metaphorical and overexagerated to show how big his love is.

When you mumble, you basically talk in a low voice (as if you're whispering).. and to talk to someone in a low voice, you have to be physically very close to them, so the poet is jealous that her parents are so close to her. No one would normally be jealous of their lover's parents/siblings, but the poet is being extreme to express just how much he's crazy about her.

There are short videos of Umm Kalthoum’s improvisatory parts in a channel named after its owner “Nizar Nasser” which you could definitely resort to, although I think there are other channels offering Umm Kalthoum’s live performances, the same ones of ArabicSongs.
