As a german this makes me so incredibly happy! Spaghettieis is so tied with my childhood and yours looked just like I remember it - I can literally smell and taste it through the screen! The best part is the partially frozen cream underneath... aaah, thank you for reminding me of good old Spaghettieis, Emmy!

Normally the press is also put in the freezer for some hours prior to making it (or its kept in Cool Storage during the work day at the ice cream shop) i think it makes the ice cream go through a little easier. Also you could add some coarse cookie crumbs into the fruit sauce to basically make "Bologna Style" Spaghettieis

There are different Spaghetti Eis Flavors by now. You can get vanilla, chocolate, pistachio or whatever you desire. They change the sauce to fitt the "noodles".

Oh yes that makes me so happy! As a child in Germany I had them so often. My favorite part about it was the "Parmesan" on top 😍 Every German ice cream shop has spaghetti ice btw

My favorite part is, that the whipped cream freezes a little bit. It's a texture thing I guess. Funny enough normally I'm not a huge fan of whipped cream but Spaghettieis without it wouldn't be real Spaghettieis!

That's my childhood and tradition here in Germany! Every week we were visited by an Ice cream truck were you could buy fresh gelato and many different ice cream bowls. They made spaghetti ice bowls, Fruit ice cream bowl, Strawberry ice cream bowl, Hazelnut brittle bowl, Amarena ice cream bowl, even pizza ice cream. So so many and loved this time!

Wow, this takes me back to my childhood when my Dad was stationed in Kaiserslautern. There was always a truck parked outside of my school after classes ended that would serve this. If you bought it, all the other kids would get so jealous. Great video!

I saw this video and it IMMEDIATELY brought my back to my childhood. My mom is German and she raised me on this. The last time we went to visit family I was about 8 years old, 26 now! We used to buy it from a street vendor who would always give me mine for free because I loved it so much LOL. If anyone hasn't tried this, you absolutely must! It's amazing. OMG! You brought a piece of my childhood to life. I always told my kids about the spaghetti ice cream I had in Germany as a kid. They thought I made it up. My dad was stationed in Mannheim Germany for three years. We loved it there and a ice cream truck would come to the base and sell these and I always got one. I have never tasted anything like it since. Thank you Thank you for bringing such a wonderful memory to life.

Omg! One of my greatest childhood memories is with Spaghettieis xD My Cousin asked the Guy with Ice Truck if she can choose another Ice cream sort instead of vanilla. He answered "Yes. But than it wouldn't be original Spaghettieis anymore!!! It is always only with strawberry sauce. No chunks. Nowadays you can find Spaghettieis with different icecream varieties such as nut icecream or with different fruit flavors or chocolate sauce as well. But no "meat" whatsoever. Of course you can do you but than it isn't Spaghettieis! Greetings from Germany

I'm actually from the city it was invented in and the ice-cream parlours of Dario Fontanello (the creator) are huge here. He even sells ice-cream in some super markets here. But I love nevertheless that his spaghetti ice-cream has really evolved into a more refined, quality product and an "Original Spaghettieis" is not outrageously expensive

I loved Spaghettieis when I was a kid! It was my favorite. You can find it at almost every Café that serves Ice-Cream around here. You should also try making Spätzle, the best (and in my opinion the only way) to eat them is mixing them with some butter and cheese (preferably tyrolean gray cheese or any other well-flavoured cheese) and adding some fried onions on top! It's a traditional dish here in my region!

This is so cute! I am German, not a huge fan of ice cream in general, but Spaghettieis really is a classic. I especially enjoy the frozen cream at the bottom. It is the absolute best part in this dessert. I love how much you enjoy it. For me, it's kind of unspecial, because I ate it so often, I see it every year in every café and I didn't think of it as special or new. But it's super cute to see how much you like it.

It's a staple in every ice cream shop in germany and comes in so many flavors, so delicious. My favorite is adding amarena cherries as "olives". I have been in the original Eisdiele in Mannheim and it was really yummy there.

Loved this in Europe! The ice cream flavor translates to ‘soup of the English’, and was sort of like French vanilla, topped with jarred strawberry sauce and sprinkled with coconut. I’m going to try your fresh strawberry version! Thank you!

we 💝 Spaghetti Eis. at the ice cream parlor they are using unsweetend whipped cream. And if I will prepare the tomate sauce, I will use always powdered sugar, not for the sweetness but to use it as a gelling agent, so the consistensy is more like a strawberry jam sauce. if You like spaghetti Carbonara You can use hazelnut ice cream and vanilla sauce or if You dont mind alcohol You can use advocat and on top toasted and caramellized hazelnuts. The potato ricer can also be used for a German pasta dish, the pasta is called spätzle. Here in Germany it is also translated noodle press (spätzle press). The pasta consists only of flour, egg and salt. some people make semolina in this so that the pasta has more texture and is firmer. You can make about 2 tablespoons per egg for the dough. Salt of course to taste. The whole thing is then boiled in boiling water. The noodles are ready when they float on the surface. So that they don't just stick together make butter or margarine on it ^^

at a lot of ice cream shops in Germany the ice cream itself isn't as soft as yours for Spaghettieis. It's usually colder, so that the whipped cream underneath freezes a little, which is amazing!!

aah I miss spaghettieis! last time I visited my family in Germany it was the dead of winter so all the parlors were closed. if they'd have been open I still would have gotten some, even if it would make me freeze! love this stuff!

Loved this reminded me on being stationed in Germany 30 years ago and used to go to an ice cream parlor in the little town of Waldorf and get Spaghetti Eis after we ate gyro type thing that had a garlic sauce with red pepper flakes in it. I cannot for the life of me remember what the gyro thing was called (not a donnerkabob)

The pronounciation on Spaghettieis was on point! 😊 You can get Spaghettieis in most cafés, at least in the South where I used to live (near the in the mentioned city in the video, Mannheim). I am not so sure about Hamburg, though, I did not check it here before after I moved up to the North of Germany. Thanks for making this, enjoyed that video very much as well!

Some comments & variations: - Instead of or in addition to the shaved white chocolate, one could use coconut flakes, chopped nuts, cocoa nibs, etc there as topping variants. - If you take softened vanilla ice cream and add matcha green tea powder to it, (& then refreeze it, or not) it makes 'instant' and tasty Green Tea I.C. (This also would likely work with such additions as cocoa powder and or ground cinnamon, etc.) - I recently bought some partially dried (& sugared) strawberries at Costco, which I then cut up into pieces and reconstituted with hot (i.e. boiling water) + lemon juice overnight. It made for great cereal topping the next AM, and could be subbed for the fresh berries which Emmy used in a pinch as well, IMO!

I am from Germany and in summer there is really nothing better than soft ice cream and spaghetti ice cream. I love the consistency of those two types of ice cream. Heaven ❤

My mom used to make a pizza out of ice cream with a graham wafer base , grated white chocolate , sliced fruit and strawberry syrup ! It was awesome you should give it a try and it’s it’s really fun for kids birthday’s 😁
