I can summarize Finnish history in four words... GET OF MY PROPERTY!

The "Jäger March" (Finnish: "Jääkärimarssi", originally "Jääkärien marssi"), Op. 91a, is a military march by Jean Sibelius. He set in 1917 words written by the Finnish Jäger, Hilfsgruppenführer Heikki Nurmio who served in Libau, in the Royal Prussian 27th Jäger Battalion of the Imperial German Army.[1] This unit was fighting against the Russian Empire, of which the Grand Duchy of Finland still was a part. Finland was ruled under sweden and russia until indepence in 1917.

It was done before independence 1917, so it's about getting independence from Russia.

"We wil rise like the revenge of Kullervo" is an referece to an old Finnish folkstory Growing up in the aftermath of the massacre of his entire tribe, he comes to realise that the same people who had brought him up, the tribe of Untamo, were also the ones who had slain his family. As a child, he is sold into slavery and mocked and tormented further. When he finally runs away from his masters, he discovers surviving members of his family, only to lose them again. He seduces a girl who turns out to be his own sister, having thought his sister dead. When she finds out it was her own brother who seduced her, she commits suicide. Kullervo becomes mad with rage, returns to Untamo and his tribe, destroys them using his magical powers, and commits suicide.

There wasn't an army as you would think traditionally when this song was really made. Jaegars were finnish men send in secret to Germany to learn about warfare when we still were under Russian rule. We weren't able to have our own soldiers of course, we didn't have independence. Jaegars were the first trained soldiers when they finally returned from Germany and they have an important role in history of Finland.

*The Tavastia, Karelia, Dvina means current and former areas/provinces of Finland, with Tavastia being in the south, Dvina (now Russia) in the east, and Karelia (which is now split by Finland and Russia, i am originally from the now Russian part) in the southeast.* Tavastians and Karelians are also former tribes, where wars between those two used to be a regular event

When I did my conscription our platoon leader once asked: "Does any one know Jääkärimarssi?", before we started marching. I raised my hand (and I was the only to do so), and then our leader went: "JÄÄRÄMARSSI... KOLMANNELLA (on three)... 1... 2... 3!"

The music composition is a bit special, since it was composed by Jean Sibelius, who is considered to be one of the premiere composers in classical music circles

The Finnish coat of arms has a lion. and if we talk about a lion flag, we normaly mean the Finnish flag with the Finnish coat of arms in the middle (e.g: the president of Finland uses that flag) Another alternative meaning for the lion flag could be the first flag of independent Finland, the lion of the Finnish coat of arms on a red background. given the context, this might be the more likely meaning.

We fought about our Indepence, this is not just made for patriotism or army song. Every word is true. And we knew it very well. Knowing of history is recommended. Just thinking that your enemy is Russia.

This one is more of one of our war songs than army songs/marches.. The lyrics being the defining factor. More of a war cry in a chant than something else. Greetings from Finland!

The Finnish lion is actually symbol of the fact that Finland is a western and democratic country and that we belong to the west. If you look at the swords like the one that the lion is holding on his right arm. That arm is protected with armour and the sword (Templar knights type of sword?) is hold high. Then look at the sword that the lion is standing on. That is an eastern type of sword. It's not protected and the lion is standing on it and that is a symbol that Finland does not identify itself as an eastern society/coulture. Standing on it is humiliating that sword and thus the society/coulture aswell. We will always fight for our right to identify ourselves as we want. Slava Ukraine and Israel 🇺🇦 👍🇮🇱, 🙏

Kind of ironic to think that without Russias occupation Finland would probably still be part of Sweden and the wars with Russia set our industralization and economy on a boost to pay iff our wardebts to Russia. Oh and btw Funland is the ONLY country in the world to pay its wardebt in full.

The logo with lion and two swords is the coat of arms in finland, there's a finnish flag version with it in the middle.

There’s plenty of videos of Winter War and Continuation War. You might also want to check Simo Häyhä(white death nickname was given by his soviet enemy) who was the most succesful sniper in any war and did his part in only about 3 months.

But thing is 3,5 million ppl vs. Russians 150 million aid by english, usa and others make quite different. That makes Finns quite unique.

Leijonalippu (Lion Flag) was the first adopted flag of Finnish Republic among its formation in 1917, the flag was soon changed to its present from, but the Lion Flag is still widely used among the soldiers, and other a bit more nationalistic Finns.
