I love Fiji. I visit and work there regularly. I am Australian and we do love Fiji and Fijians. Lovo is delicious. I also love kokonda like a cerviche but with coconut milk. Fijians are the most friendly and laid back. Love it all.
A lot of places have Indians who moved there themselves. But Fiji, Mauritius (where my family are from), South Africa, Trinidad and Guyana, for example, have Indians who descend from labourers brought there by the British from the early 1800s until the early 1900s, so we're many generations removed from India at this point and are essentially our own people with our own unique cultures and traditions. I'm sixth-generation out of India, and can't speak any of my ancestral languages
