What I don't understand is why the Chinese are messing up with the BIOS, why they don't try to create a good BIOS. You have shown that one BIOS can be used on multiple motherboards. Following your guidelines, I have seen you troubleshoot turbo boost, USB 3.0 and memory timings... Good video as always man... This is the best RU-vid Channel about Xeons Chinese motherboards !!!
I was hoping a review would be done for this board because I just bought it. Too bad sleep mode doesn't work but I'm glad my E5 2640v3 will turbo boost. I appreciate your hard work. I'm new to your channel but I love all the videos I've seen so far.

@@EvilEng9 Sorry for the many questions, but I have another question. How much power supply capacity do I need? Is 500 w enough? And do I need a strong air cooler or a normal cooler will suffice? Because my budget is limited
Really? If you keep the motherboard on a box, the back side will heat up this much, but in my case it is mounted on a test bench, and the back side temps are ~5-7 degrees less.
Really, in cases the temperature reach higher value on rear side of motherboard, just back from VRM mosfets, but, if you change the original thermal pad for a high conductibility one, like Thermal Odyssey, the temps tend to be more homogeneous through the heatsing and board. I am using a DELTA 4020 12V 0.6A PWM fan on heatsink, using a fan controller i set the speed to havd a good air flow without noise. I unlocked the board, and set 50-20 undervolting, chipset is C226. I am using E5 1620 V3 4/8 @3.6 all core, 140W cpu. The temps on AIDA FPU test do not hit 60c. I will test with a 2685 V3 12/12 @3.3ghz all cores 120W soon to see the impact on temps.
@@juninhocale4044 yes, you can do that, it helps to transfer heat from the motherboard VRM to the chassis, but it's also easy to screw something up and cause a short circuit, which will kill your motherboard and be a potential fire hazard.
About the 4 pin fan header. I found that on my huananzhi 8m-f the second 4 pin header is not controlled by the bios smart fan. You can however set a fan curve by using software such as FanControl.
i do really like your way of reviewing motherboards and going over all the little details of them, chinese or not because motherboards are so complex and have so many features packed that it could be very daunting for someone who doesn't have the board in their hands to know if is a decent mobo or a piece of crap i would like to see more reviews of other more mainstream motherboards in the future when you have more subs and the budget allow for it ofc
This channel has saved me a lot of $$ and needs more subs, thumbs up from me. I think a Chinese manufacturer made this for a brand name, but it never came up to spec, sold as not working, unbranded and flogged off to those on Ali express that get it going enough to scam us customers into buying it.
Hi, thank you very much for this very informative video. Thank you also for this magnificent Mi899 program, I flashed my Bios without problem (card bought 15 days ago). I didn't want to have a problem with this card and you offered me everything you need to, indeed, have no problem. Cool !

Hello, thank you for this good video and for all the work you do. I bought this Machinist x99 rs9 chipset Q87 board with Intel Xeon E5 2670 V3 processor with 2 x 8 GB of RAM, I am using an Asus GTX 1070 TI board the BIOS is original and is from 2022 is that I have to update with your BIOS and which one to choose? Thank you in advance for your reply have a nice day
Hey Miyconst, a quick question about the B85/Q87 and memory compatibility. In the past video's you mentioned the C612/x99 chipset is a bit picky of RAM type: rank and nr. of banks a stick has. What about these desktop Q87/B85/H85 boards? Are these implemented chipsets a bit more flexible?
As far as I know, the standard Huananzhi X99-8M-F BIOS can be used with Q87 chipset as well, but I can't guarantee that and there is always a risk to brick the motherboard.
6:50 Have your tried disabling STR and enabling hibernate? I've had a couple very old machines that wouldn't STR but could hibernate. Hibernate doesn't require too much hardware support. 7:50 Isn't that Turbo Boost Max 3.0? 6800k has it. E5-2678 v3 doesn't. 9:40 While I agree that the VRM is too weak, using a top-down cooler (instead of a tower cooler) would lower the temperature tremendously.
I know I’m late to the conversation, but hibernation works on this board. I just put my system together today and confirmed. Not quite as convenient or efficient as sleep, but it’s better than nothing.
This video is from a few years ago but I'll take a chance at asking a question. Which of these x99 works with overclock and all else important using your Mi899 and has quad memory support? and do you think quad mem support is really worth it in gaming or editing( I don't know much about this, yet)? Because I'm finding it a bit difficult to find which x99 is best to pick ( I'm sure you have heard that a lot). I suppose I was thinking of using the e5 2699 v3. I'm going to continue to watch your vids to learn more about these x99. I'm sure I will watch other vids you have about other things as well because of the time and effort I've seen that you've put into this(x99) alone. Thank you for your time and effort. Oh and I definitely Subscribed.
If you are looking for a motherboard with overclocking and all other bells and whistles, then do yourself a favour and go with AM4 / LGA 1700. For X99, this summary is still relevant: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YlkQV90-l1k.htmlsi=s6gMO8poIZcRU0Qw
Is there a guide or some documentation available to try using Huananazhi X99-8MF BIOS with this motherboard like you mention at 5:20 ? I got this board to build a portable workstation but I'm experiencing some very strange issues such as failure to POST or random freezes during IO operations. I want to give the alternate BIOS option a try, but I'm unsure where to look for documentation on this.
If your system behaves this bad, it may be a hardware failure, but feel free to try my Mi899 app, there you will find a collection of different BIOS options. Also make sure to have fresh Windows installation.
Maybe the Jingsha X99-8D3 would be an alternative. A little. It cheaper than TF (around 85€ on Ali shipping to Germany). It is using x99 (c612) and 8x DDR3. TF bios could be used and working fine for me with 2678v3 turbo unlocked. DDR3 makes no big difference and used ECC Ram is quite cheap. Thanks for your great review, and helping me to buy some cheap components for playing around with virtualisation.
Will E5 2670 v3 cause heating issues with this Motherboard as you stated? I do have Hyper 212 cooler and pretty decent case with good airflow, my current CPU which is i7 3770 never goes above 60 Celsius with 100% load. Also Is it a good upgrade from i7 3770 to E5 2670 v3? I mostly use my system for gaming and video editing.
In most cases you will get noticeable performance increase, but it all depends on your GPU, game, and RAM timings. X99-RS9 has a weak VRM, thus I would ensure good airflow over the VRM zone even though E5-2670 V3 is not extremely power hungry.
I loved this video, I was thinking of buying an RS9 x99 a long time ago but thanks to this video I have already decided that I will buy it, since for the features it has and others I think it would be a good option to have my own low cost set up. I only have a few doubts, if I first use an e5 2620v3 with the turbo bost bios, will I have a problem if I later want to change the processor to an i7 5930k? And would you recommend upgrading to i7 5930k? excellent video keep it up!
Core i7 CPUs are not compatible with unlocked BIOS, thus you will have to restore the original BIOS before upgrading the CPU. X99-RS9 + i7 is a pointless combo because RS9 doesn't support overclocking. You would much better be with E5-2666 V3.
Hey dex, I only have 16gb of ram working with mine, the other stick wont work. I tried a replacement just in case it was a bad stick but that didn't work either. Have you had any similar problems? I haven't done a bios update. e5-2670 v3

Hi, I don't have a big budget and I was wondering if this mobo with a e5-2620v3 or 2640v3 and gtx 1080 could be the sweet spot for a casual gaming and continuous mining rig. If the system is running 24/24 could it become dangerous (vrm heating)? I would like a safe machine. Thanks for your help. Btw amazing reviews!
For GTX 1080 I would definitely go with E5-2640 V3, because E5-2620 V3 will be the bottleneck in the build. X99-RS9 will be fine if you run mining on GPU only, I would not recommend this board for 24/7 CPU mining.
Thank you for the technical review - what cooler did you use for your build? I bought the motherboard and a Hyper 212 cooler but I am unable to install the cooler.
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo has multiple variants, some come with LGA 2011 mounting, others without. If you don't have the required mounting you need to get another model.
I really like this motherboard size and features, a 4x instead of 1x slot would have been much better, sadly i'm pretty sure the efficiency will be terrible

@@Miyconst thats unfortunate. I do have an EVGA copper heatpipe vrm finstack from an X58 board I was going to try to fit to the board with the graphine pads, as it has the same mounting hole measurements.
Judging by the TDP - the motherboard will be a fire harazd if you try to stress test it, but I don't know how this CPU behaves in real life. For example, E5-1620 V3 has a very high TDP as well, but in reality, it consumes about as much as E5-2620 V3.

Nice to see a properly wired x16 lol. Ive decided i will be getting a 6800K. Prices are getting very nice for them, too good to pass up. I still havent decided if i should get a china mobo or cough up the 160-200 for a nice asrock or asus, etc. So ive been rewatching alot of your reviews. I have recently seen several ebay sellers offering a 6800k-6950x paired with an HSGM X99_s680 v3.1c far what seems to be a very decent price. have you heard of this one at all? its design reminds me of the huananzhi x79 2.85 but with an x99 socket, and a single vrm cooling fan,
I will try to check what that motherboard is, but so far I can't say much. As far as I remember, most of those boards had only two memory channels, 2 slots for DDR3, and 2 slots for DDR4, which makes it rather pointless.

@@Miyconst I learned that as V4 versions do not have Turbo Boost, you can use the Throttlestop program to increase the cores and increase performance, then test
No, China branded RAM is often incompatible with the Chinese X99 motherboards. If you decide to buy Machinist/Kllisre or similar RAM - make sure to buy it in a bundle with the motherboard so the seller tests it for compatibility.
Thanks, a lot, I’m thinking of buying this mobo with a 2630v3 but I’m a bit concerned about the usb 3.0 issue you mentioned on the video. Is that a problem I can get along with if I decide to not change the bios? The thing is that I don’t have any idea of how to do that and I don’t want to mess it up with the bios
Chinese X99 motherboards are only for those who are not afraid to get their hands into some basic PC tuning. For gaming it's essential to unlock Turbo Boost, otherwise the performance is very crippled. With Mi899 it's just a few mouse clicks, but you need to understand what you are doing.

RS9 2640v3 working fine with Huananzhi X99-8M-F -50/50 BIOS. Only one downside wich is that it freezes, requiring to force shutdown when looking at sensors, like aida64 and hwinfo. Aida can be fixed by disabling PCH / Bibxy module but hwinfo I'm unable to use, still looking for a fix
Unfortunately there is no fix for this issue, the desktop chipsets were not designed for LGA 2011-3. Maybe a better BIOS could solve the problem, but so far there is no such BIOS.
