🇬🇧 UK Second Rehearsal (REACTION) Olly Alexander - "Dizzy" Eurovision 2024 

I don’t understand UK goes safe previous years and is not enough. Now UK goes beyond and isn’t playing safe and is too much. Like seriously!!!

I think this might be the most daring staging in the history of Eurovision. Whatever happens, this one is going into the Eurovision history books.

Takes the edge away from Finland's and Spain's butt cheeks, doesn't it?! 😆

Just a general observation not saying one thing or another, but let's bring some sort of balance and perspective here. This year we appear to have a man in a posing pouch, bare bum cheeks emerging from an egg and donning a pair of 'hot' pants towards the end of the song. We have two dancers in some basque like things, bare bum cheeks, with high heel thigh boots doing forward rolls, splits etc. Some male and female dancers in scanty flesh tone pants and their lead singer covering her 'vital statistics' in a skin tight cat suit. A witch performing neopagan witchcraft wearing next to nothing including a visible purple/blue thong. Not to mention many other performers, dancers band members in masks, cone shaped items, straps or chains around upper legs and skin tight garments...and then there's Olly and his dancers in a locker room. All are representing the participating 37 countries. So be they fully clothed, scantily clad, run of the mill staging, alternative or bringing a shock factor this time next week the juries and people around the world will decide. So make what you will but good luck to one and all.

UK staging progressed from trumpet to crumpet. Well done Olly.

Are you kidding me? This is one of the best stagings on Eurovision, like ever. When did people become so prudish? UK did an amazing job. Sending support from Serbia and good luck to Olly. ♥️

Pet shop boys visit the sauna. I think they'll get the balance right when we see the whole thing. Kids won't get the reference but the adults will. That's very British.

If Russia and China still broadcasted Eurovision they would switch to adverts when this comes on.... so a winner for me 🇬🇧

I think the performance and the staging looks and sounds really good. Best UK staging ever. But I agree with William. The tongue part is weird imo and they should cut it out. The performance doesn't need it.

As a brit, I am just so glad people are talking about our entry, controversial or not. Our usual entries are normal very vanilla and either 'pleasant ' or a bit boring. I am glad we are taking risks and putting some effort in to staging and acting like we believe in our representative artists

I am in the demographic who often enjoys something similar to this (wink, wink), but I feel it's a bit much for Eurovision. Also, the upside down makes me dizzy, and not in a good way...

I think if they remove the ‘thrusting from behind’ bit, they’ll be fine. However as it is, yes it may be ‘too much’ for many.

I’m sorry but this is hands down the best staging of the year, or at least in the top 3 best staging packages. Unique exciting bold and executed brilliantly. UK should be so proud

The UK 🇬🇧 holds back so many years whereas this year we are finally taking a risk! It’s art, it’s beautiful and the song works! An absolute dark horse for sure! Besides, Eurovision starts late after kids have gone to bed anyway … 🤷‍♂️

The UK probably has one of, if not, the best staging productions this year. Yes it might put some people off but id rather alienate 10% and win over 50% more by being out there and daring.

Interesting that everyone was raving after the first reveal and now there's a feeling the staging has gone back in the wrong direction. I'm confused about the message and concept.

This is giving me a Svetlana Lombada vibe (Ukraine 2009). It's rauchy but not in a deliberate way. It feels slightly satirical; in a sense, it's taking the piss outta of itself, so you can't take it seriously. Love this, and it should do very well

I am so proud of Olly and the UK team! Propelling Eurovision way forward, I don’t understand the negativity among supposedly most open minded fandom. Kids are getting way more explicit content from American popular culture nowadays

I’m not a grandma and I have no moral objection to “soft porn” but that doesn’t mean I want to see it on Eurovision.

I think this staging is letting the uk down , the majority of audience watching will be uncomfortable watching, this is a family friendly show . I think this will affect uks ranking on the night . This could have been an amazing staging without the sex

This song has been on my work tannoy (Morrisons supermarket) so its a safe enough song. Anyone who knows Olly Alexander would know its meaning. Its definitely an eye-opener, but then again, we had Scooch... Im totally fine with it. Olly isnt going to throw his reputation for this song, hes a professional.

I completely agree with William, is it Hot? Yes. Would I join them? Maybe. But not appropiate at all for a family show. I think it's a attempt to take a risk because it isnt the best songs of the competition.

I’d say he’s like a 2024 Paul Oscar. Something risky and daring. I think it’s about time. We’ve been too safe with staging. Apart from Sam’s crystal maze prop when have we done something that made people talk like this?

I thought the music video was brilliant and showcased Ollie’s personality and was a visual delight. I feel the stage show has taken a dark turn. It all feels very forceful and a good stage concept should take you on a journey that you want to be a part of. Also, as an adult it’s clear to read between the lines and comprehend the meaning behind the visuals and choreography. For a child however, it’s confusing and inappropriate. This show is for everyone and should be enjoyed by all ages.

William you are on the point. This is show that eldery people watch, family's, ect. It's to sexual, not sensual, and I think it's not appropriate for this Pr rating. No, back to his vocals, it's bad, very bad, and silent, I expected more. On whole point, it's to much for major audience.

I like the box and lighting idea but yeah not really family friendly 😅. Bit too much going on camera angle wise as well bit erratic. Although the upside down thing is cool and it does give a dizzy ride lol, which it looks they are aiming for.

Yes, the youth of today will find things like this on the internet etc but please don’t shove it in our faces. Agreed with William. The idea and concept of the staging was brilliant! but coupled with sexually suggestive moves..it might turn off people from voting. Eurovision is a family show. PS: Olly definitely lived up to the hype, but the dogging needs to be toned down

Im totally with this performance i think its a fantastic idea, but i agree with William the facial expressions and grinding is justttt a little bit over the top and that alone is just not enough to make me want to vote for it

Yes it's raunchy, but this is made up of a wider 3 minute segment. Olly is releasing his 'brand'. Who cares? Its staged fantastically, its suggestive but still art. The UK is taking risks, and more importantly, it wont be forgotten!

It’s certainly getting people talking, and people will react to it one way or another. For me, if the whole performance is in the box, it falls too much on the side of video rather than stage performance. We’ll see though. I do think it falls a bit on the edge of a bit much for the audience. But it’s got people talking. His vocals aren’t great here, there seems to be a lot of backing. I know it’s in the rules but I don’t enjoy the main melody being on the backing track sung by the artist who should be singing live - it feels like cheating. I said same last couple years too. Was Ronela’s act changed at request of EBU or Albanian media? There’s a lot of double standards in the EBU application of rules at times.

I think this is great for MTV vans or Brit awards or Grammies, but I think this is too raunchy for Eurovision and needs to be toned down. This is simulating porn way too closely. Especially with the mouth wide open upside down shot looking up at us, too far I think.

Gosh. I grew up in Ireland in the 90s and am such a fan now because my parents let me stay up to watch what was a great family show. Now I want to pass the love of ESC on to my kids but sadly it's not a family show anymore 😢

I agree with William. The thrusting goes on too long, rather than just alluding to it. Also, it's very awkward for more prude viewers as it zooms in on the men's faces while thrusting. They have no option to look away at anything else because that's all that's in the frame.

Remember you only saw a few seconds. Wait till you see the end product. Personally it needed this as the song is weak. Love Olly though. He needed a better song!

Olly’s act reminds me of when a Disney star wants to show that they’re an adult now. It feels like the work of someone who is trying to gain notoriety. Editing to add: We knew, even before the staging was revealed, that he is literally trying to make a name for himself. He is leaving behind the branding and name recognition of Years and Years and is now performing under his own name. I don't think there is some greater artistic or political purpose behind the audaciousness of this staging. It feels purely business for Olly.

I hope it does make people uncomfortable…. That’s probably the point. But if you pause the dancers aren’t even really touching each other 😂 It’s all camera trickery and people’s minds are filling the gaps, so if people think they’re simulating anything sexual that’s on the viewer 😂 I think in the wider context of the whole performance all this pearl clutching won’t matter because this is a tiny part of the whole package.

The entirety of Olly's vocals in this clip appear to be pre-recorded/playback. I've compared the 'live' audio side-by-side with the track on the official CD, and they're identical. I'm really worried the BBC are covering something up - especially as they didn't want his LEP performance being published! Can anybody confirm he can sing live, or does he just rely on Autotune?
