The song is a cover. It was written and originally sung by Australian Peter Allen, who wrote many songs and who became famous overseas. At one time he was married to Liza Minneli, also a famous singer from the USA, and Judy Garland's daughter. There is a musical of his life story, 'The Boy From Oz', played by Todd Mc Kenny in Australia and later Hugh Jackman, which was a hit overseas This song features in that musical.. Qantas took the song for their advertisements and they have done it a different ways. It is played on their planes coming into Oz from overseas.. There were a number of famous Australians in the ad and always the Australian Children's Choir. Also, the school choir in red shirts are from Longreach in Queensland where Qantas first began.

This one was to celebrate QANTAS flying again after Covid. You wouldn’t normally see them in an ad, just their name at the end. The one sitting on the bed was at the time our World number one Women’s Tennis player who retired because she is equally good at Golf and she represented Australia in Cricket. Got married and pregnant so Golf is on hold, she is also Aboriginal and wonderful. Her name was Ash Barty. The man standing on the ocean pool edge is Adam Goodes, also Aboriginal and not long retired from the Sydney Swan’s AFL team. I know one of the two women in the water is Brontë Campbell. Not sure if the other one was her sister Kate. Both are multi gold medalists in the swimming pool at Olympics and Commonwealth Games. They have a few of the other colour medals too. QANTAS has been using this song for about 14 years and everyone is beautiful. It was written by singer, songwriter Peter Allen from Australia. Hugh Jackman played him in the Boy From Oz on Broadway. We are a Country of traveler’s and wherever we go is wonderful. The best part of any trip is coming in to land at home with this song playing. Australia is magic and it always calls us home. Thank you.

Qantas has used this song for decades in their commercials, a cover of the Australian singer dancer songwriter and broadway star PETER ALLEN , RIP, I first saw him perform the song at a one man concert in Sydney in the 80s he sang it at the end of a concert as his encore and it brought the house down , I guarantee there wasn't a dry eye in the theatre. Qantas play the song on flights into Australia and announce a welcome home to the Aussies on board , I've been on more than a few flights where the passengers have broken out with applause . Its another Icon song that people say should be the national anthem

The ad was filmed pre covid, but QANTAS held off releasing it until borders re-opened. Celeb's in the ad are Hugh and Kylie as you recognised, Ash Barty (Aussie tennis multiple grand slam winner), Adam Goodes (champion AFL footballer), Troye Sivan (singer), swimmers are olympic gold medalists Bronte Campbell and Ellie Cole (paralympics) The "big rock" is Uluru

You think you've got goosebumps.... This song tugs at the very core of each and every one of us, I've not known an Aussie who is not physically and emotionally affected by this song. Apparently Aussies are the most travelled people in the world. Probably because of our diversity with links overseas, or our isolation and wanting to explore, but when you're homeward bound, all the emotion and anticipation of being back in this 'wide brown land' we call home, evokes a powerful response and this song sums it all up. There is something so powerful and spiritual about Australia, it gets in your very being, it can't be described effectively, you just feel the power of it. You'll see. True Blue 🇦🇺
