Fun fact: "Irreplaceable" was actually written by Ne-Yo then it was given to Beyonce. There's even a demo version on RU-vid with his vocals. Beautiful song by both artists. ❤

The music we hear from age 13-30 will always be the best music ever written, lol. It's the soundtrack of our youth and every song is connected to a memory. Other music cannot compete with the deep feelings that are attached to those songs. I'm Gen X and recognized all but three songs (why was there a song about Ketchup?) Great reaction!

You really love music!! It's refreshing. Yes, this list seems skewered to the UK rather than to the States, but we share a lot in common. Fergie's "London Bridge" was #1 here, but everyone agreed she ripped off Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl". A surprising omission: Michelle Branch's "Everywhere", a big hit in the US Summer of 2001.

Your comment on Black Eyed Peas, including Fergie, cracked me up, because they have been doing music since the late 80's, and Fergie wasn't originally involved. I know them from their Behind The Front (1998) and Bridging The Gap (2000) albums; amazing music, you should check those out! Also, the Numa Numa song was somewhat viral in the U.S., but only because of a viral video where a kid was shoulder-dancing to it at his bedroom desk.

I think everyone probably believes the popular music from their high school and college years was when music was the best. The song Angel is a remake of an old song from I think the 70s. When I was learning to drive, my mom had a tape in her car. I listened to that tape over and over because it was there. I can't hear the remake without thinking the original lyrics.

It brought me back to how free i was: no bills, got to hang out with friends, sleeping in every weekend, no adulting at all. Ahhhhhh, those were to good old days. And i got to experience the 90’s era as a kid. So i think us 90’s kids got the best end of the deal with the 90’s and 2000’s.

I would pick the 80's as the best decade for music, but I think the best 10 year stretch of music would be from 1978-1987. You'd be getting the following artists at their peak: MJ, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, The Bee Gees, U2, Billy Joel, Hall & Oates, Whitney Houston, Phil Collins, and Van Halen. You had great albums by other artists like The Wall, Back In Black, Synchronicity, Appetite For Destruction, Graceland, Master Of Puppets, and London Calling. You had the beginning of hip hop as a major art form and the 2nd British invasion. You also had great soundtracks like Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Flashdance, Footloose, Beverly Hills Cop, and Purple Rain.
