The second song 'Unforgettable' by Nat King Cole was reworked by his daughter Natalie Cole after her father's death. She performs a virtual duet with her dad. It won 3 grammy awards.

That was the big surprise hit of 1991 here in the States. Natalie Cole had a pretty successful solo career in her own right in the 70s and 80s, definitely worth a look or listen. More r&b based in sound.

The fact that James thought he would not have recognized the songs from the 50s & 60s at all is crazy. Music is stillllll so loved & so inspiring even from those decades that it's still played & listened to over & over.

How so? She pretty much set the stage for the female singer-songwriter especially during the 60’s . She helped write timeless songs for other artists and also proved to be a more than capable singer in her own right. Name a woman who has been a singer or songwriter over the past 50 years or so, and they will give credit to Carole for being the groundbreaker.

Interesting story about The Monkees. It started as a comedy TV show in America about 4 young guys, like The Beatles, who are a music group trying to make it big. Each episode was highlighted by one of their songs being played while chase scenes and shenanigans pertaining to the plot ensued. They are credited by many to have created the music video even though videos didn't become popular until the early 80's.

Yeah. "Satisfaction" was scandalous in its time--some radio stations wouldn't even play it. That's a sign of great music. But in a way they topped that with the "Sticky Fingers" album cover showing a close-up of the front of an occupied pair of jeans that had an actual zipper you could could zip up and down: Possibly the greatest album cover of all time.

And when she mentioned the CPR class where you should use the rhythm of "Stayin' Alive", I remembered back to when I took a CPR class in 1984; the instructor mentioned that if you didn't know it, use Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust"!! (the 1980 song)-- 😳 Keep on keepin' on, and as always, Blessed Be, & Peace! 🙏☮
