In June 2021, my friend and I visited Guatemala for the first time. We flew into Guatemala City but spent most of our time (10 days) in Antigua Guatemala. We booked independent tours with Guatemalan Adventure to visit Panajachel by Lake Atitlan and Chichicastenango (an indigenous open market). During this tour, we also visited the nearby colorful cemetery in Chichicastenango. I also booked a Pacaya Volcano hiking tour with two new Colombian friends I made with the company. Pacaya Volcano is the most active volcano in Guatemala and had a massive eruption just a few months before our visit.
