Most important thing you need to buy when you arrive in jakarta is emoney card, you can use the card to commute around the city by using MRT metro, LRT train, commuter line train, and also transjakarta bus. Also secondary you need grab or gojek apps to support you to the bus stop or train station with unwalkable distance. But if you stay near station or bus stop you can go anywhere you want as long as inside jakarta city. You can buy emoney card in any drug store or mart such as alfamart or indomaret or family mart or lawson etc

In 2013, I spent 6 months in Indonesia, four of which was in Jakarta to attend a local university. Every evening after class, I came home, started packing and telling myself that I would leave the next day. That how much I hated Jakarta. At the end of the 6th month, I did not want to leave…. The main reason was the people. Indonesians are very welcoming and hospitable. The moment they knew I was not a local, they were super nice and extremely supportive. Couldn’t ask for more. I still keep going back to Indonesia, and loving it:)

I am Indonesian but lived in USA for 10 years or so. The first 2 months I returned to Jakarta, I hated it. Now I find Jakarta quite pleasant, the only exceptions are air pollution, traffic (which I avoided by going out only during non peak hours), and the weather is not friendly for walking and minimal walking infrastructures.

Loved the Pakistani lady. Bubbly, easy going and totally relaxed. Great range of questions and answers in this series of interviews. Pollution and heat the issues if any, but generally the standard in that part of the world especially in the big capital cities and understandable with the large population and therefore huge numbers of car and moreso motorcycles on the road emitting excessive exhaust fumes that would not be particularly healthy for those exposed to it. Why are people complaining about Indonesians not speaking English well? English is not our language; we have absolutely no obligation to speak it in our own country. THEY should try to learn Indonesian when visiting our country, just as much as we are expected to speak their language when we go to their country. And one of the tourists complaining about the language is a Frenchman. Really? A Frenchman complaining about Indonesians not speaking English? And when we go to France, the French people will be able to speak English to us? Pfffffttt.

💯 agree with your argument, i know English is international language but not everyone speaks English because every nation has it own stance such as like French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Argentinian, Brazilian on average they don't speak English, so people who want to come other nation they must speak the language of that nation at least the basic one.
@raychabaharuddin3399
@raychabaharuddin3399 10 месяцев назад
No one says about obligation for Indonesians to speak English, nor is anyone compelling you to do so. The interview focuses on tourists' perspectives regarding convenience, particularly in communication and language barriers, and how these factors impact their overall experience in the country. Given that English is a globally accepted lingua franca, tourists are unlikely to invest unnecessary time and effort in learning the local language for a short visit. Learning the language may make more sense for an extended stay. However, comparing Indonesia to countries like France, Japan, or South Korea reveals that these nations are not inherently English-language-friendly destinations. Yet, tourists often find it easier to navigate in these first-world countries, despite not predominantly using English. This ease results from well-developed and English-friendly transportation systems, clear signage, and a structured infrastructure tailored for tourists. Ultimately, it boils down to the tourists' perception of how navigable a country is. While not speaking English isn't a problem, it certainly enhances the experience if you do.

But Jakarta for an Asian city is extremely well organised and walkable compared to most of Indonesia! Hi, as a local Indonesian...i have little bit advice, Jakarta it is very pack crowded and always busy, for some people who prefer little bit calm, quite and greenery, you can go to suburb area (can go by car or KRL train). To BSD or Cibubur or if you wanna go by car, you can go by car thru highway (but please notice the traffic before you go or you will get into 'highway parking lot' and you could stuck for hours) going to puncak on working days always better than weekends, happy journey guys :)

Jakarta means a few things to me. I visited the city few times from 1982 to 1985 when my late dad was a diplomat. My late mom passed away in Jakarta in early 1983 and her body was brought back for her burial in her hometown, Kuantan. About a year after dad, my late dad got married to a local Indonesian lady from Jakarta and she already became a Malaysian since living in KL and PJ for more than 35 years. How do you like Jakarta?

It's cheap to live and eat there especially as I now know where to stay, people are friendly and cute with they giggle at themselves cos they don't understand you. i kinda find it funny how the pakstani woman sees women working labour jobs as something great and amazing when those women themselves would have loved if they worked in "posh" jobs or even didn't need to work at all and just be full time moms but unfortunately the economy doesn't allow that for a large percentage of the people. "ow wow look at these children working in sweetshops rather than going to school, how amazing and freeing" is basically what she was saying.

@@Chai_Travel it's not ugly, if i wanted it to be ugly i would have said that her intent is malisious which i didn't, her lens of how she might see this as good and beautiful doesn't change the reality of what's going on. nasically it's a look of privilage and btw pakstani women also work "blue collar" jobs it's jut not in the same ways as in indonesia. so really she's looking at if from the prespective of someone privileged in the gulf countries i know this because i studied and lived with people like this. clearly i don't think that everybody is like her as i said i am among them but there are some people that want to portray something as good not based on reality but their own agendas. do you disagree that many of the women working these jobs would have rather worked jobs that were less harder on their bodies?

@@Sir3gar that was an ad hominem attack becuase you couldn't counter my claims. she did not talk about independace but the type of work the women do in each country in general. one is blue collar while the other does white collar jobs. the amount of ignorace from privilage is crazy. doing blue collar jobs isn't the girl boss thing you imagine it to be, a lot of these women are practically forced by the culture there to do these jobs, many of these women are used and abused to provide for their families basically taken as slaved of labour even animals after doing worked people are greatful for the work but the work these women do is never seen as enough and they are put down for not doing even more. you might say well what are the men doing? exactly as i said it's not the girl boss move you think it is. as for women in pakistan this women is a gulf brat that can't see infront of their nose, there are similar situations where a lot of women in pakistan have to do physical labor the difference is that it's not steeped into the culture and people are put off by it which means you need to be A LOT more shameless to use and abuse these women or genuinly deperate for work due to a bad situation. but because of this women are more likely to get blue collar jobs which is easier on their bodies while men do the physical labour. wow what evil sexist pigs they are!

Hmmm, interesting you say that. I guess other than the Muslims and Christians the people are spiritual. Though I’m pretty sure the majority of the people here are Muslims, than Christian’s 😊

yeah no way jakarta is low crime, pickpockets/thief/sexual harassments is really common in Jakarta..... if anything Bali is way safer than Jakarta, and this statement coming from many of my balinese friends too.

Turis luar jangan ke Jakarta, krna kan kota2 besar mrka udh biasa. Klo niat traveling ke Indonesia itu ke daerah2. Misal dieng, pangandaran, lombok, banyuwangi, malang dll
