Whatttt, duck is definitely not instagram chicken!!! 🤨 lol I don’t know how it is in Japanese ramen, but if you ever get the chance to try Peking duck or Cantonese bbq roast duck, they’re heavenly!!!
Peking duck is one of the single tasiest foods I've ever had, and i had it at spme shitty "chinese" restaurant in a small town in sweden, where the restaurant switched between buffet and standard dining depending on the day. We went there twice in like 10 days because the food was too good.
I’m honestly so glad to see this series back - when I visit Kobe next summer I plan on visiting this mall. I look forward to these videos every night, thanks for all you do!
0:57 This duck meat is unusually white and texturally smooth looking which is a rarity. Most duck meat tends to be darker and coarser. Shio Aji Rāmen broth is subtle to showcase this duck Chinmi. I've eaten this kind of roasted white meat duck in Yokohama, Japan.
Duck IS pretty much dark meat chicken... but better. Mid duck is still juicier, richer, and more flavorful than really good chicken thigh. Breast meat only people won't like it, but it's definitely worth a try for anyone else!
As an enthusiast, I can tell you your evaluation of duck as "Instagram chicken" is misguided. Duck is not "fancy chicken," it's a fusion of all the best qualities of chicken, pork and beef. It has the tenderness and form factor of chicken, but with the richness and body of pork and some of the deeper "red-meat" flavors of beef. It is the uber-meat, and it demands your respect.
Even with simple seasoning, duck is super tasty. Imho the duck meat looks quite pale, maybe it's a subtle taste and colour due to the food they ate? Definitely agree with you though!
Duck ramen is on my list of types to make. Just the other day I made a big pot of chicken stock for noodles - I was worried I didnt simmer it long enough and didnt get enough collagen out of the bones, but holy crap. After cooling overnight I cut it with a knife and could lift hunks of it it was so thick; it was beautiful. I want to make a nice roast duck broth is my hope, next step is finding a couple fat ducks.
You can't banish it to B-tier! You ordered sardines on your veggie pizza at a seafood restaurant and called the health inspector doing them dirty like that.
Theres a ramen place near me in the US that has duck ramen. It is really good! Its got a kinda christmas-y taste bc of the warming spices the restaurant uses in the brothm
If this is the first time your eating duck, I would go try it again but just the duck with side dishes... Bc oh, my, God, it's one of my favorite meats. It's SO GOOD
I tried out this Japanese and Thai restaurant yesterday and I’m still thinking about that Onion Soup they gave us after walking in…like..GOD DAMN…I want more, but it’s not in town.😢
Duck is closer to pork than chicken but usually a little gamey. I assumed the broth would be similar, so maybe try it without a strong flavor like garlic?
This duck meat is so white... I can't even believe it is duck. It looks like goose or chicken. Duck meat is usually a deep red with a distinct flavour, nothing like chicken. I guess it must be a specific breed of ducks, I've just never seen it served where I have been.
Duck isn’t actually that much like chicken at all? Duck meat is red and chicken is white, that’s already a major difference. Just because they’re both birds doesn’t mean they’re the same
