I explored all of Middlesbrough's most important football sites. From the Brian Clough statue in Albert Park to their old abandoned stadium (Ayresome Park) to the Riverside Stadium.
Middlesbrough Football Club are one of the oldest clubs in England and have had numerous legends play for and manage the club. Paul Gascoigne, Graeme Souness, Juninho, Jack Charlton, Bryan Robson and MORE!

I remember when Boro won the cup, I was in primary school and the day after during our assembly - where normally a teacher would stand at the front and preach bibley stories, the headteacher took over, pulled out a boombox and played Pig Bag, dancing along to it. He ended the assembly after and just said "enjoy the rest of the day!" One of my favourite memories

Sam - you parked outside my house at Ayresome Park - please come back again and I will show you around - we have lots of pieces of sculpture that you missed showing you various parts of the ground like the penalty spot, centre spot and edges of the pitch and even the exact spot where N Korea scored against Italy (sort of). I will also show you where the main Ayresome Park kop end was, the Holgate End, where there is an information board about the ground. Come back and I will show you around.

Middlesbrough is one of my favourite respective real English footballing clubs ever since I was a child and am extremely so lucky to watch them playing in all of their respective matches both in the English First Division(Premier League) and English Second Division(Championship) and of course,I fully like their history extremely so much and ever, good friends!!!I must continue watching their respective matches through my handphone's internet and hope to see the bringing back the true meaning of English football in the first division just like how Leicester City,West Ham United and Aston Villa have been doing so far at the moment from those two fake big clubs for more than 10 years, good friends!!!:-D

As a Middlesbrough fan I have watched both of your Boro videos and the way you have covered our club has been fantastic. Rob Nichols has also commented and you should take him up on his offer. He is probably too modest to say, but he runs our fanzine (Fly Me To The Moon) and is a local celebrity - you should take him up on his offer. Although you did a great job on your own. Great content and love the enthusiasm. I am now a subscriber and also really enjoy the abandoned stadiums.

Love that you mention statues. I wouldn't be surprised if there is soon a statue of Gareth Southgate there soon. There has been talks about it. And that game of Bolton v Middlesbrough is an interesting one in the terms of England Managers. Both Managers and the Middlesbrough captain would go on to be England Managers. 14 Managers in over 75 years and 3 featured in the same game.

The Ayresome Park gates were famously photographed with a huge padlock on them before the club was going to fold in 1986. That’s why on matchday the same gates are always fixed open. Agree with the others - 1986 story is very famous. Club playing in the lower tier mostly full of local players…Tony Mowbray, Gary Pallister, Colin Cooper, Stuart Ripley etc. There is also a blue plague on Clough’s house - 11 Valley Road, right by Albert Park

Clough Close is where the old hospital used to be. The main 'shrine' of the old ground is at the very end of 'The Midfield' road and has the original Holgate end wall still standing and text about the history is there. The Holgate is a reference to what the hospital was before it was a hospital (A Victorian workhouse) The outward face of the wall is visible from Clough Close if you go far enough down.

Middlesbrough FC was not the first club to represent the town in the Football League. That honour went to Middlesbrough Ironopolis, who were elected to the Second Division in 1893 - the same year as Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United. Although on the field they did reasonably well, finishing 11th out of 15, the challenge was too much for the club's finances to bear, and they folded before the new season began. Ironopolis played at a ground very close to the former Ayresome Park, but I don't know if it was still in use when the latter was built.

For the World Cup Ayresome Park was all seater, but afterwards in reverted to only partially seated. The funny thing is that Ayresome Park wasn't going to be used for the World Cup. It should have been St James' Park, Newcastle, but they didn't own their ground at the time, it was owned by the council and the club wasn't on good terms with them. So the FA look to Middlesbrough, a d the rest, as they say, is history. Another Middlesbrough George, George Camsell scored 18 goals for England in 9 games between 1929 and 1936 giving him the highest goals per game ratio any England footballer. He also scored 63 goals in single season (1926-27) but was out scored by Dixie Dean that season. The opening match at Ayresome Park was against Sunderland which Sunderland won. Middlesbrough's chairman clumsily tried to persuade the Sunderland team to throw the match. Sunderland reported this approach and the Boro got into trouble,, and not for the last time in the pre-WW1 era. The purchase of Alf Common caused an FA inquiry.
