Let me remind everybody that June is usually extremely competitive since there's so many summer comebacks especially from the big companies. But when other groups are coming up with the usual upbeat songs, Mamamoo releases a powerful ballad album which is an incredibly bold move.
Mamamoo are vocal QUEENS, since debuting in 2014, their discography is massive, releasing many group albums, multiple solos react and singing OST's (original soundtracks to tv shows). Their songs range from your standard kpop to rnb and ballads; they do have the range in terms of both genres and vocals. They are definitely worth checking out more, because whatever they sing, their vocals and harmonies are god-tier. Thanks for listening to them for the first time!

What an interesting time to drop in on Mamamoo lol This is as people have said a ballad reflecting on their 7 years together so far. They've covered virtually every style of music with a vocal first approach over time as a group and in solos. Check out the Dingo Killing Voice (medley of their hits with live vocals), and the Immortal Songs Medley (concert medley of cover songs from a competition show). They've broken records for their success individually as all members have had successful charting songs and they're the most respected vocal group in kpop.
This song and the whole mini album was released to commemorate their 7th anniversary (7 years of being together as a group). The song is about them before as a group and becoming a success, coming from humble family backgrounds, starting out as a group that was made fun of because they started out 'different' but as time goes on, they prove how talented and unique they are, as a group and individually. Just as the title song says, it basically talks about Where Are They Now. Where they were then and where they are now. They're amazingly talented vocally and they can dance well too. All their songs are major hits and they rarely come out with something like this (a ballad) but their other songs still consist of strong vocals and rap parts. My favourite part is the rap part with Moonbyul along with the duet of Wheein and Hwasa at the end, because the lyrics say: "With you in this beautiful star, We had the same dream". Both of them sang and harmonized at this particular part because both of them came from a small town together (they were friends since middle school, before becoming famous) and moved into the big city to become artists together. They grew up together in a small town, had the same dream, auditioned, became a group together and succeeded. 🥺🤧

Thanks for the Review! It's so hard to decide what is the style of music of mamamoo. They are really versitile singers, so don't really expect to follow just one style with them. As a recommendation, I'd suggest you to watch Killing Voice (this is a programme where they sang a Medley of many of their more popular songs) and the Medley of Immortal Song.

Just six months after they had their debut they were invited to appear on Immortal songs 2 and that put them into every bodies sights, up to then they were ignored by all the big named stars and producers, people looked down their noses at them, television companies edited them out as much as they could, RBW was told by other people in the industry not to bother with them as they would fail, just wonder where those people are now.

They're good in any genre. They've tried so many genre and this time, they came up with ballad, which is their non favourite genre, especially hwasa. But they're absolutely awesome with this genre, right?

Mamamoo has no standard style, they love trying out new types of music. One of the members is Hwasa and this music video in terms of production style is very much like one of her solo songs called LMM which is also a ballad.
