What I remember so fondly about Vientiane is how chill and relaxed it is for a city. Not all people have the same opinion but for me, I loved Vientiane. Didn’t get the chance to see the top of Patuxay as the stairs were closed during my visit 😜. Nice to see you back in Laos, Nat! 👍🏻👍🏻

As the biggest city in Laos it still quite chill and relaxing. Next time hope you can go up to the top. It's nice to be home for the new year🙂

Starbucks gave up on Sweden. The competition was too fierce for them. You get much bette coffee from a genuine espressobar. Swedes want real coffee not brown water.

don't eat McDonalds and other western fastfood. Starbucks is loaded with sugar and americano's can be had cheaper from the locals.

Yes ! We have Dairy Queen and Starbucks here in the USA 🇺🇸. I'll go support the Lao Starbucks business when i arrive. Im really not a fan of Starbucks i perfer Dunkin Donuts coffee. Seems like your westernized and can live aboard. You'll be able to survive. Have you lived in the states before and move to Laos ?
@natnomad

I personally like supporting the local businesses, too. They're the one that are cheaper and need the support the most. I haven't lived anywhere, apart from spending a bit over a year in London. It was good to experience living in different societies.

Sad to see Starbucks in Laos now. Oh well, some people like it. I think Lao coffee is much better. In LP there is Sinouk, Saffron, Dada, Lulalao and so many more serving amazing local coffee.

Starbucks didn’t survive in Australia, because their coffee isn’t very good. I would have thought Vietnamese coffee vendors would be big in Lao - they are so good at it!
@natnomad
@natnomad 8 месяцев назад
Starbuck has become more like a status in poorer countries like Laos. With that price, not everyone can afford it. Vietnamese coffee is still a favorite, especially in the south of Laos like Pakse and Savannakhet

The problem I see with all these fast food chains, is all the junk they create. Tons of plastics and crap that end up in nature. I mean you have the masters of Porclaine nearby, coffee is best drunk from a proper porcelaine cup (and Tea of course).

Most coffee chains have coffee that isn't great, including Starbucks, but if you do like the mixed coffee drinks with syrup in them I guess it's a good place to get something like that but it's not my thing. I just found your channel and like your perspective on Laos, looking forward to seeing it myself next year, at least that's my plan.

Thank you. I think most Lao people like it sweet. We used to drink coffee with condensed milk in it. Welcome to Laos in advance and thanks for watching my videos😊

Wow, I hope not too many will survive there. Sad, but that will drive out the local businesses. Starbucks coffee is very strong, but I would not pay that price for a cup. We buy the beans, ground and make our pot of coffee at home. Tastes as strong. Very nice view from top of monument. I was there in 2014 but did not get a chance to go to top. Will be sure to go next time.

It is sad indeed how these big corporations killing local businesses. I've noticed near the night market in Vientiane where the Big C is. Almost all small groceries have closed their door. This will be the same in the future.

@natnomad 9 месяцев назад
In Vientiane, you can find quite many clubs. I have no idea what to suggest. and for the apartment room. If you have a budget of $300/month, you can easily find a house with two or three bedrooms. Laos is not that expensive in terms of rent.
