Hi folks, NatNomad here. An ex-Buddhist monk from Laos with a big dream of seeing the world. Throughout my time for over 10 years being a monk I kept asking myself one question "What life is like out there beyond the monastery?" and because of this question alone made me take a big step in 2014 when I finally said goodbye to my wonderful monastic life. And now I'm doing what I've always wanted to do. Though I am not quite sure if I can say that I'm living my dream but you know what I'm loving my new adventure. Please make sure to stick with me so we can explore new exotic places together. Let the adventure begins! Thanks so much for your support
Thank you for sharing your trip. Actually I like to visit golden triangle Laos side. It’s very few information on RU-vid. It’s really helpful clip. Wandering sisters Moe
It's not that bad. It all depends on the status of the women's family, too. The richer the family is, the more downry they expect from the groom's family
Amazing video, so informative!! I stayed in a temple in Thailand for a few days and as you said obviously you cannot become a monk within such a short timeframe, but it can give you an idea how such life looks like, disconnect from the real world for a while and teach you how to work on yourself and meditate. For me it was a salvation in a hard moment in life when I was looking for a new direction. As you said I also consider this rather a philosophy of life than a religion. Thanks for sharing this with us 🤩
It's nice that you got to experience life in the time. Obviously, you can join the temple for as short as one day. Like I explained for such a short period of time, most people do it for a particular reason, such as for the funeral. People also join temples for a couple of days for a retreat, like you said to disconnect from the world outside.
The worst SEZ in the world is the Golden Triangle. Boten used be the worst. No matter what the Chinese do I would not trust them. Chinese are fake people.
Your American accent is super perfect I guess you grew up in the USA and came back to Laos for a short time , I watch your videos in order to improve my English, keep it up ! Sir . Much love from Thailand.
Chinese is always oppressed Lao people. In the 80’s they recruited Hmong and Lao people to stir up troubles. And Lao gov decided to please the Chinese, and then they decided to rid of Lao refugees and the Hmong. I think many people don’t know that China recruited Lao refugees in Thailand
@@natnomad If you do research about the Indochina refugees, you will see that China took about 2,500 Laotians to be settled in China, but in reality, China trained them to cause troubles for Lao gov. But after China got what it wanted from Lao gov, it decided to kill all of them and never mention about the Lao refugees any more.
Thank you Nat for sharing. I had no idea Boten even existed. The history is quite precarious, but thankfully the government was able to intervene. I do sense that the atmosphere is more relaxed than the Golden Triangle. I'm happy too that you were able to use Lao currency there. Have fun and be safe on your next adventure 🙏😊
Great video and good in sight; you clearly did alot of research on this subject matter. I notice that is a dirth of people or traffic; that looks a little eerie; did you shoot the video on a holiday or a Day when most people are off from work? The absence of poeple and traffic is noticable. I understand that SEZ in Laos are being challenged by locals and some people in government, but I understand there is limited Laos regulations or laws with respect to regulating Botin SEZ or any SEZ and attempt to pass new laws in the Lao Assembly in November 2023, but were stalled or failed. The business lobby surely had a hand in that.... but, in the end, it appears SEZ have a beneficial impact on jobs and services, I hope that the main beneficiaries of SEZ are Lao and not Chinese.
I filmed on the weekday, according to the people there, they told me it's normal as not many people living in the zone ATM. On the weekends, it gets busier with many Chinese and Lao tourists coming for a day or two.
Is this a Ghost City then. No point building these super high towers if you dont have schools, medical, transportation and simply attractions more than a few Shrines. Very very poor expensive decisions
There are still fewer people living in the zone now. The developers are advertising and selling condo units. A lot was bought by many Chinese investors. The project includes hospitals and schools and other facilities
Thanks for your videos! I'm currently in Laos and your videos have been great for helping me navigate around. I'm currently in Luang Prabang and visiting some spots you highlighted in your video from a month ago.
Did you live in the states and learned English? You enunciation is on point and one of things that is on my Pucket list is to travel throughout Laos and explore the diversity culture. Your VLOG is much appreciated since I have never been back home.
Sabaidee, and thank you for the greeting. I have never been to the US before, but I've studied my English with American teachers for sometimes. I'm glad you enjoyed my videos. Welcome home soon🙂
There are plenty of hotels in Inle Lake, I stayed with one that was actually closed, but the lady in Bagan put me in contact with the owner because they knew each other. When I was there, most of the hotels were closed
Wow Nat that's good to know about the monks program. Aw your English accent sounds absolutely perfect like the Californian. Thanks for sharing the awesome informations. Keeping the good work
You are going to pay 8000 mmk for a cup of tea while knowing the price is not right. Are you a pushover? . Luckily the waiter is not a scam. I'm sure you're going to be cheated on next videos.
Subscribed. Your video description looks very interesting. I don't take train ride since post coup. I don't know how myanmar trains are look like now, even though I myself is a Burmese.
