🇺🇸 I hope you enjoyed Los Mochis! I hope you understand the meaning behind the video. The first half in the botanical garden was intentionally calming and 'pretty' highlighting what 'we're expected to love' about Mexico, before chaotically jumping around in the second half to contrast the 'beautiful side' of Mexico versus the 'more average, gritty and modern'. The food was also intentional. I get a lot of crap for not always having the 'best food' as if people think I'm on a 2 week vacation. I've been there done that! Sometimes you just want to go to a fast food restaurant and be a basic bitch! SINALOA, just like CHIHUAHUA and DURANGO, is much more 'my thing'. Next time you'll see if SONORA is as well! ¡He estado allí haciendo eso!

Hi, David! Another lovely video with really nice videography and drone shots! Los Mochis looks like a rather pleasant modern city and I enjoyed seeing it. I was immediately struck how beautiful, tall, healthy, and well-groomed the palm trees are there. In San Diego, Phoenix, and Florida, palm trees are distressed, diseased, and neglected. The Mission style architecture and the magenta and pink bougainvillea are lovely. Jajaja! 'Puentito', yep, you made it up... it's 'Puentecito'. You wouldn't be David without that zeal for sneaking around and breaching forbidden places... Brilliant! How respectful it is that people posted their femicide messages on paper and didn't graffiti the kiosko with paint like El Angel in Chihuahua City. I learned that Los Mochis is well known for promoting the sport of boxing, and for producing numerous champion boxers and World Champion boxers, two US Major League Baseball pitchers, and Laura Harring, a former Miss El Paso, Miss Texas, and Miss USA (who used to live in El Paso). I also didn't know Sinaloa has Mexico's highest agricultural output and is called 'Mexico's Breadbasket'.

Talking about the palms, I was born and raised in Los Mochis and they had like a catch phrase in the radio about them: "Los Mochis, donde las palmas tocan el cielo", wich translates to: "Los Mochis, the the palms touch the sky" 8)

That abandoned bulding is used by a lot of people to have photoshoots in there haha. It was first founded Topolobampo by the name of "pacific city", and a few years later, Benjamin F. Johnston and Albert K Owen came here to found what they called "El Plat" which later changed into "Los Mochis" (meaning the place of the land turtle). Johnston wanted the city to be like an american city, so he brought an engineer to help him trace it like one, and everytime he traveled, he brought different species of plants (the ones that you can find at the botanical garden). Benjamin thought that due to the weather, the palm trees would be perfect to plant all over the city, and the palms adapted perfectly, and now one of our nicknames is "where the palms touch the sky". My city has a lot of growing to do, but is such a lovely city, too quiet for me, but is the place I call home. It has a very interesting history and also so much cultural heritage and diversity.

Los Mochisian here, born and raised and I gotta say, I love how you introduced this video. Northwest México is very different to central and southern Mexican states. Los Mochis is entirely made by American businessmen, so is traced as american cities and has heavy anglo influence. We relate first to our state, Sinaloa and second to USA more than we relate with the rest of Mexico

Benjamin Franklin wasn't a president but he was one of the principal guys behind the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. He was kind of a renaissance man who was involved in a lot of different scientific and artistic pursuits (and a lot of sex). He contributed to the understanding of electricity but it was Thomas Edison (or more likely someone who worked for him) who invented the lightbulb. As kids in the US, we were always shown images of Ben Franklin flying a kite in a thunderstorm and using it to hoist a metal key into the air that would get hit by lighting and he presumably was making some sort of observations about it.

You know David nachos are mexican , but they are more common in the north and most of the time are round instead of traingular, but what really seperates nachos from totopos are thar nachos are prepared with cheese, and you can add up diced tomato and onions and maybe chili totopos are just the corn triangles . So yes its still mexican food ( In a way you could say that northern mexican food is similar to tex-mex)

It´s my first time a seeing your videos, im form Los Mochis and i really like the vision that u offered of my place. Beeing honest, you have a lot more to explore here! Los Nachos its a local and very popular place (yeah, its good) but we have more mexican traditional and international food too. Im sure that u could see that there are a lot japanese, chinese, and international restaurants here. We have beautiful places to visit, for example Topolobampo or Maviri (the closest beach) where you can visit some litle islands, do some fishing, swimming, take a look for the different species of birds and the most friendly dolphin that lives here, at our bay and its called "EL pechocho" (that means the beautiful). The visitors can have a boat ride and take pictures of it, swimming with it or just have fun while enjoy a cold beverage. At night you can go to "El cerro de la memoria" (Memory hill) and have a look of the city with all the lights, have a deliciuos dinner eating tacos, carne asada, mexican typical food, and lots more. In a weekend maybe go to a horse race (they´re common here) or to a local baseball o football game that usually close with sharing beverages and food betwwen both sides. We hope all interested people can come and have fun, have great time here and change de opinion that some times the bad publicity gave. Thanks for yout video!

Yeah there's only so much I can put it one video without it being 3 hours long. Like I said this video was about relaxing and generally I purposely select 2 or 3 points which interest me so I can go into them in more detail, rather than try to include 963 things, that approach doesn't work for filming. And filming takes x5 longer than regular sightseeing lol Also re restaurants and 'newer places' there are limitations around filming due to issues like copyrighted music.

I lived in Los Mochis and even rented an apartment there. I paid per mth or 100 pesos a day fully furnished. The city is patterned after Brooklyn NY. I found it pleasant. The beach was a joke, not maintained and disgusting. This town is not to shabby. Not a place to get immigration though. Not a bastion of intellectualism. There are some fantastic restaurants. You need some time to find them. Great video, thumbs up and God Bless from the invisible man in the sky...

Thanks Tony, I know what you mean about Brooklyn and in general that whole US grid system, I'm in Obregón now and it's exactly like that. 100 pesos per night is insanely brilliant!

I always enjoy your videos. I like that you cover parts of Mexico that aren't frequented by foreign tourists (though I don't quite share your enthusiasm for recent-vintage abandoned places). I also like your food reviews (though in this case I'm probably even less picky than you--I'll bet I would've even enjoyed the infamous pizza; I was happy with the food in Guanajuato! I guess I have low-to-zero standards with food :-) ). My only video suggestion: I seem to notice more text overlays (if that's what they're called) in your recent videos, which my brain can't process at the same time I'm listening to your voice, so I always have to rewind a bit to get each set of words. But if you're getting out of the RU-vid business I guess that doesn't really matter, does it? :-) Anyway, I'm looking forward to the rest of the Mexico videos in your retirement tour!
@davidostrowski679
@davidostrowski679 2 года назад
Haha yeah the reason I put those text bits is particularly because it's Mexico and if you miss out the slightest detail you get accused of 'not researching' or 'missing' something. It doesn't happen with videos in any other country. You constantly have to spell things out and people still simply make up their own video lol. Like the Chepe one 'you shouldn't compare it with Europe'... I didn't even mention Europe LOL. Yep re pausing that's often necessary, I do it when watching videos too but it's either that or get shit from viewers. I don't want to simply reel off Wikipedia when talking, I'd rather focus on reactions. The text in the Chepe one was because it was more informative. Viewers don't read video descriptions or pinned comments. This one was because I forgot that I'd researched that refinery. The next two only have the usual Instagram pop ups etc so back to normal!!

Hi David, Los Mochis unfortunately is not a very touristy place, but above all it is a place where people go to go to another place. I'm glad you try the nachos, there's not much to do other than try the variety of wonderful food. This town has a bad reputation because of a dangerous person who was caught here, but the people are lovely, helpful and friendly to anyone who comes to visit us. Thanks again for your video, and you are always welcome!

Los Mochis is a nice, modern Mexican city. You don’t go there for colonial buildings or sightseeing. LM is the hub of the agricultural and fishing sectors of northern Sinaloa and if you’re there, it’s for business. Period! Not all of Mexico is “quaint little colonial towns”.

One key point in Mex. is that OPPORTUNITY is so difficult to find for the young people and many of them have not experience with work skills whatsoever. I've attempted to assist some, but they get into a mindset that takes a lot of effort and work experience to escape from.....wish I could assist some that want to succeed - even in Mex. there are ways to excel.

Something cool about the Ingenio Azucarero is that they used to do "zombie races" with people in costumes following you around trying to take your "life". Los Mochis is not at its best, recent governments have not done much to keep the good things going, in general.
