🇳🇱 Rotterdam will indeed host Eurovision in 2021. This artist, Jeangu Macrooy will represent the Netherlands in 2021. Stay strong, Netherlands!✌️💚💪🇳🇱 #EurovisionStrong
Same, I was sobbing 😭, I wasn't expecting anything but I wasn't prepared for just crying so much because of a song, it's so real and full of truths, it murdered me.
This song is the kind of song the big five and the host country should send. It takes risks and its different. The songs that are already in the final can do that. Jeangu Macrooy is an artist I have been listened to all his songs from the moment his name came up. I love his neo soul style and is an amazing live performer. Cant wait to see him at stage next year.
This song is a masterpiece. It was initially 19th in my top but it grew on me so much and it is now my 3rd. I was really looking forward to see how he would have staged this song
This song is everything to me. I don't think I've ever related to the lyrics as much. It makes me cry almost every time, but by the end I always smile - I adore the uplifting last part, it's like it gives you hope that you're not alone. Both in music and the video. I love the fact that we see a group therapy and people supporting each other, it's so beautiful 💜
My favorite male voice out of the bunch. The song is great too. It doesn't follow the standard verse-chorus-verse-chorus structure. Instead it grows (pun intended) towards the end.
Netherlands: I’m surprised that people rank this low. I really love this song lyrically. The problem is that it’s too short. Another 30-45 seconds would work better. But sadly they have to keep it at 3 minutes. The song really builds towards the end, so the ending keeps you wanting more.
I dont mean to be offtopic but does any of you know of a method to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost my account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me.
Oh btw Jake thanks for uploading these despite the cancellation. I normally binge your videos after Eurovision because I don't want spoilers but now at least I get to see you react to them in real time so I appreciate it!
Just you wait, Jake. This year there are a LOT of people of color and they've got some BANGIN' songs. There are a lot of "sad boy" ballads this year, but they're all so good. Can't wait to see your reactions to them! As far as this one, it's my #2 for the year. No song has ever made me feel so understood.
Probably my favorite host entry since Sweden 2016 and my 2nd place, it's been hard watching the reactions since I love the song but it also has me on the verge of tears every time I listen to it because it's so emotional/relatable for everyone. The live performances of it have been stellar too, he performed it on Wednesday, the night after ESC 2020 was canceled, and it hit different just hearing him alone with the pianist.
Since this entry is from the Host country, it does not have to win, it is already guaranteed a spot in the final, so it can be very risky - it is a treat! To have something very different! And I am sure it would have been staged perefectly.
This song is a grower. At first hear, I didn't like it that much, but after a few listenings it gets so much better. The lyrics are so amazing and the whole song feels so personal and intimate. It still isn't a winning material for me, but it's a very solid song that needs more appretiation
The Netherlands is my number one this year. I absolutely love this song and it shook me completely, I think I'm relating to this song so so much, it emotionally destroyed me. That ending was so abrupt though hahahahaha. The Netherlands is just out there to bring art, they got their win now they're just bringing quality and I'm okay with it. They're bringing back Jeangu next year and I'm happy, can't wait to see what they bring with him.
Loved this song from the very first note and is one of the rare cases, when I listen to a song outside contest. From the whole contest, there are few such: this song, Belgium, Italy, Lithuania ❤ (my second fav), Iceland and Georgia -my all time fav from all the contest ever been
the title of the song is on point, it grows on you with each listen, at first I was, oh, no, another ballad, but I appreciate it now. Still not my favourite ballad of the year, there's another one that gives me goosebumps and chills and I loooooooove it too much. Pity that next year's songs must be brand new, because we'll never know how well these were going to be received by televoters (yes, I vote, people that know me think "Sonia, you're bonkers" but eurovision has been in my life forever, so I vote because I love it) and juries.
I love this song. It connects with me emotionally very well. It has such a heartfelt message. Something for eurovision? Probably not, but I'm happy to have another song to remember. Also, if it's any consolation, I'm Dutch myself and I dont know how to pronounce the name properly either. Mainly cause it isnt your typical Dutch name. He's actually from Suriname (former Dutch conoly) and came to live in the Netherlands 6 years ago. Cant wait for your other reactions! :D
There is often a trend at Eurovision, when a male artists wins, a lot of countries will send a male the next year, same if a female wins, when Lordi won we got a few countries sending rock, when an ethnic jam won we had a couple years with ethnic bangers, when a ballad wins you get a year of ballads etc. Its not always that way but often happens.
Beautiful song! Held back from victory only by the perfect storm of being a host entry, and having Loreen, Zeljko, and some cute old ladies as the competition.
Our dear neighbours did a great job there. They would have been an amazing host with an amazing host entry! I didn't know him well, but when I saw they selected him I started looking up his music and he is an incredible artist, so true to himself, and his voice is fabulous
I like to imagine that actually, Jeangu was so great that he won by default, which is why ESC 2021 will also be held in the Netherlands. He will defend his title Lena-style. :)
I though this song was a bit meh at first, but he performed it live on a talk show and it was already much more interesting. I'm sure it would've been better live with more backing vocals and stuff
I kind of wondered if the song intentionally didn't do what we thought because he's singing about things not going the way we thought. A bit how the UK song had that pause before each 'breath'. We're already seeing so much nuanced songwriting this year. I think 'Arcade' really encouraged people to push the envelope.
Definitely and the more these artists craft their songwriting, whether they intend to or not, it’s having an effect on viewers. That’s the true sign of art.
This song is to understand as a two part piece. Thats the structure, it starts with the quiet part, the time he was sad and lonely and full of anxiety, and then the second part, where he is in the group finding help, friends and inner piece and the song suddenly becomes joyfull. Its a masterpiece. For me the winner. Too bad he has to change the song now for next year.
Eurovision entry or church hymn? Jeangu (who will be representing The Netherlands in 2021) is serving gospel and is reflecting on his life and growing up. This year, this song would've been in the top ten. To me, this was great.
This song means so much to me right now, because I have my parents in elderly homes just 13 miles away ( 130 kilometers ), but with closed borders and an ocean between I can not get to them. I see the song through their eyes and I bet in a million years that they never saw this scenario coming, or that they would be alone in this. It breaks my heart!
Your post absolutely broke my heart. The thing with music is that it transcends time and language barriers. I pray you’ll be able to see your parents again. I’m so sorry.💔
@Tara king Thank you so much! Yes, all these separations are painful, even if I of course understand the lockdowns. Hugs to you too and hope you and all your loved ones stay safe!
@@JakesFaceReacts Watched this and saw my old post. Just wanted to say I visited them last weekend for the first time in 1,5 year and they were fine. 💜 It has been hard of course but they have been taken care of and are just fine. All is good here. How are u? 💜
This would be so much better if we could get more of the chorus. I'm always confused listening to the pattern and as you said"I still don't know where this is going". Can't work out if that's a good thing or not
Lyrically I think this is beautiful , but it lacks a little bit of structure. And at some point I felt that I was listening to a National anthem too. 12 points to the lyrics , but I'll give 5/10 as a whole. Sorry Netherlands 😔
