As a Papua New Guinean, I like how the couple allowed the video to guide their comments. It was being culturally sensitive. Most of the Papua New Guinean culture was left out of the performance in the video since the culture is so diverse. Nonetheless, I think the stage performance and the stories portrayed through the dance were accurate in showcasing how Melanesians can be quite unpredictable, and spontaneous, with a free-spirited nature, that is sometimes chaotic, but unique and beautiful regardless.

West Africans and even Ugandans do similar dances with grass skirts. Do you guys notice how similar their costumes and dances are to West Africans. Southern Africans, indigenous American pow wows and Caribbean carnivals. Of course there are similarities to Hawaiians and other Polynesians because they were the same people, However, modern Hawaiians, Samoans, and others were mixed out by you know who.

I recommend you watch the Tapioka dance from Milne Bay, Hiri Moale festival from the Motu-Koita, the Tolai Warwagira and fire dance from East New Britain, the Goroka show or mudman from Eastern highlands. Just to name a few...

Wow! You guys! It's the first time to see reactors comment on PNG dance (my country), and there are so many of them. You should see those drums and stand next to them when played, the vibration from the hollowed out trees really is amazingly natural. Thank you!

This is a contemporary mix of two different dance beats and movements. The fast drum beats accompanied by equally fast body movements originate from the Manus Province, comprised of the Manus Islands in the Bismark Archipelago The slower drum beats accompanied by slower and more deliberate feet and hand movements originate from the Kiwai people of the Western Province. This area is in the South Western part of Papua New Guinea, across the Torres Strait from Australia. The dressing and body decorations are very contemporary.

Hi friends PNG has very diverse cultures & traditions. The men in the red cloth are the Tolai tribe of Rabaul, East New Britain, West New Britain, & New Ireland Province. It is quite similar to the Australian Aboriginal indigenous people. The dance they're doing resembles a war dance. Im from the very South Eastern part of PNG called Milne Bay Province. You are welcome to come visit PNG anytime. Thank you for showing the videos of traditional dancing. Im sure it's fascinating. 🇵🇬☺️👍😊
