Don’t overthink it. If it’s what Filipinos normally eat, then it’s traditional. It doesn’t matter if it’s a chain or not. And there’s almost never going to be one specific traditional recipe. We’re 7,000 islands with 180 different ethnic groups. Adobo, for example, varies all over the country
Here's the unusual thing about Tapa King. It's ACTUALLY traditional food that just became a chain. Usually, a chain becomes a chain with fusion food, something that's universal around the world. For example, Jollibee is a franchise true and through because fried chicken was not invented by Jollibee or Filipinos; it's universal. But Tapa King serves traditional tapsilog the way it's cooked traditionally. Hope that explains it for our "bisitas."
He is looking for cheap or street foods … he is pertaining Local foods as he Will find it in streets .. Because that is rampant in Thailand they are pertaining Local foods as street foods also…
Philippines is the best and most beautiful country in Asia imho the most diverse with the most kind, fun-loving, friendly, welcoming people in the world. Their hospitality is unparalleled. What one could ask for xD
Robert Hyde, thanks sooo much that you liked the Philippines, and the Filipinos hospitality, pls do.come back again you are always welcome here in our beloved country.
@@ednacapuno6493 thank you so much! I’ll be coming surely as soon as I’ve finished my university and I guess I’ll just be vlogging instead in the stunning Philippines! I have numerous Filipino friends and that’s how I’ve been plugged-in with your culture and beautiful country. I really admire the Filipino mores to sum it all up. Mabuhay po!
30000 views in 1 day! Haha, waow! Yes, it was definitely a smart strategy to visit the Philippines! Already congratulations on 10k, which I am pretty sure you will get by tomorrow or the next few days.
@@Chai_Travel haha, very soon! Alex from living abroad (he was also on Thairish Times) moved from Thailand to Philippines with about 5k subscribers. After a couple of days his channel skyrocketed to 10k. It goes super fast because Filipino's really got respect for people who go there to make content. And the extra benefit is that lot of people from Philippines are from all over the world, so for your CPM it's super beneficial (especially since lots of them stay in United States and European countries with a high CPM rate). This means you can finally make your channel sustainable. You'll see an explosion in views and subs soon enough. Gefeliciteerd, je hebt het verdiend! 🏆🥂
Hello! As a Filipino myself, I welcome you to the Philippines. Actually, there are many places I want to suggest for the both of you to enjoy like El Nido Palawan, Cebu and Siargao Islands. But I suggest you guys go to Siargao Islands because recently it was striked by a storm in the Philippines and it will be a great help for the locals there.
Thank you so much for the tip ❤️ we would love to go and help next time we visit 🙏🏼 hopefully we’re able to show people and trigger to come to the Philippines as well
It's always exciting arriving in a new country, all those new experiences that take you out of your comfort zone for a while. This was a good start to your adventure and I hope you're both having loads of fun. Groetjes!
Welcome and enjoy the Philippines. There is a lot to do in Metro Manila. From Binondo/Chinatown to the posh restaurants of BGC and Makati. Visit Tagaytay to get a breath of fresh air and see the world's active small volcano(Taal). Go to Baguio up north where it would be similar to your Chiang Mai in Thailand. Tons to do and nature is probably stronger in the Philippines so you are in for a surprise....Enjoy your journey!
Super nice first day vlog, welcome to the Philippines! 😍 Thanks for showcasing the beauty of our country and let the world discover how lovely and lively life in the Philippines is. Looking forward to your next exciting and funfilled updates. Maraming salamat kaibigan! ❤🤗
Just enjoy the beauty of the Philippines and embrace the uniqueness of our country. Philippines is the only Asian country in ASIA colonized by Spain for more than 3 centuries. Have fun and enjoy your stay in the Philippines.
One thing you need to remember: Rice is life. In the Philippines, we eat pretty much all of our food with rice. There are a few exceptions where we dont eat our food with rice; otherwise, always eat Filipino food with rice. Also, we love our sauces, especially vinegar sauce. We dip our fried food on vinegar sauce. When you you go to a restaurant and they give you vinegar sauce and calamansi, red chili pepper, and there's soy sauce around, mix them all together, and kinda press the chili pepper to bring out the heat. Always mix them all together: vinegar, soy sauce, calamansi, garlic (press or mince it), onions, red chili sauce; and dip your fried pork or whatever in that glorious vinegar sauce, and eat with rice. Another suggestion: Always ask the vendor or any local around you/other customers how to eat the food, which food to eat with which sauce and how to mix the sauce.
Hi! You are the latest vlogger arriving in the Phil. Welcome to see , feel, taste and enjoy our culture, traits, traditions and foods. I know that your subscriptions will spike up because we Filipinos is very appreciative, accomodating, hospitable, welcoming and happy people. We will be Happy that the visitors in our country be Respectful in our cultures. Welcome and have a great time experiencing the diverse beauty of our beaches. Take care.
Hey hey hey you're on your way ;) Good one!! I'm feeling as excited as you two, champs. Yes I got a bit of an impression that eatery was a chain, a bit like Jollibee which you will see everywhere however the locals appear to like it. I reckon you two work brilliantly together as a RU-vidr team so........... Let's go, let's go, let's go 🤩
by the way someone below in their comment has quoted Let's go Lets go Let's go in the local language as Tara Na Tara Na Tara Na. That'll put a smile on the dial 😄
Mabuhay means "long live". It's a formal word. We rarely use it. Hello in the Philippines is also hello. We don't speak straight Filipino/Tagalog especially if you're in Manila. It's always a mixture of Tagalog and English. Bisita = visitors Typical Filipino breakfast: - Pandesal + coffee - Silog meals (e.g., Tapsilog). Si = sinangag (garlic rice), Log = itlog (egg) - Other silog meals: Bangsilog, bang = bangus (milkfish); hotsilog, hot = hotdog; longsilog, long = longganisa; hamsilog, ham = ham. - Lugaw (congee) - Sopas (macaroni soup) - Champorado - Pansit - Rice cakes Other food you can try: - Lechon - Sisig - Adobo - Sinigang Welcome to the Philippines! Enjoy your stay.
Hi thanks for choosing Philippines as your new country for adventure and vlogging Thanks for the beautiful comment Enjoy your moment and keep safe always Mabuhay Stay connected
just come across with ur channel..new subee here frm iloilo..we just love foreigners who come n showcase our beautiful country in their vlogs..enjoy your visit!
If you aim to maximize your viewership and subscribers, then you made the right decision. Just be yourself, interact and mingle with the locals and do not be afraid to communicate in English. Unlike other Southeast Asian destinations, English is the second language of the Philippines and it is taught in school and used as the primary language in the business industry, after all the Philippines is the 3rd largest country in the world that English is spoken and used after the U.S. and U.K., 95 percent of the population speaks it. Watch as your subs will exponentially grow in just a short period of time. Good luck and have fun.
Awesome Chai and Ilona! I'm gonna follow your trip for sure! Love how you dare to talk into the camera anytime, on the plane, in the airport, you're amazing! Looking forward to the next episode.
Chai the natural. All that interviewing so not low on confidence. That's why you and I so looking forward to this unfolding and the success on this channel that should be forthcoming. A discreet mix of interviewing, food sampling, visiting iconic locations, waterfalls, beaches, catholic churches all of which the locals love being promoted. The thing is to balance business with actually sufficient pleasure of time off camera too. I am sure Chai and Ilona will get it right. I can see an extended stay unless there are already other plans 🤩
@@stevens8785 agree agree agree! And to add, the personality of Chai, so full of confidence like you mentioned, but also so friendly and down to earth. 'Nuchter' as we call it in Dutch haha... not sure how to say it in English. That's what I love about Chai so much.
@@SweetLifeLanta I just used google transation and Nuchter in english means Sober. Sober isn't just not under the influence of alcohol or whatever else it also means serious, sensible, and solemn so with that I agree 100% 😂🤣😂
Thank you 😃 I'm so happy we met in Koh Lanta and we definitely will team up again one day soon 😃 It's so busy in the planning so I took your advise to take it a little more easy and will 2 uploads a week for the next 3 weeks so me and Ilona get to spent more time together while keep working on tghe channel. You're doing great I see! I gonna have to wait until we're back in Thailand but I obviously will catch up on you vlogs 😃 groetjes!
Chai, have you heard of the RU-vidrs Jmayel (Jay), Sacha, and their young daughter, Story? They traveled to Siargao Island in the Philippines a year or so ago, and now are living there. Some years ago they lived in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hua Hin, and Bangkok as well as in Portugal for a time. They are natives of the UK. Perhaps you can meet up with them if you're in the Philippines long enough. Check out their channel "Eight Miles From Home." I think that you'll find their way of life quite interesting and engaging.
@@Chai_Travel Yes, you should. Their channel is 8 Miles From Home. Their channel grew very slowly (but surely) but I think it blew up esp during the pandemic and specifically when the typhoon Odette hit in December.
Just be nice to the locals and interact... Try not to compare with other country, people and culture. And every pinoy/pinay will welcome, be nice and helpful to you. Have fun and enjoy! You have come to the right place! It is an easy 100K+ additional subscribers!
@@Chai_Travel We can never please EVERYONE but if you have to criticize, just word them carefully. There will always be viewers who are more open-minded and will say that they like that you tell the truth (when people say bad things) but the reality is that they are the minority. Don't worry, Filipinos are friendly. Always smile and you will receive them back.
@@iflipover It's fine to compare the education system, health system, traveling expenses, standards of living etc BUT it is never ok to compare cultures. It's ignorant and offends the natives especially when the person comparing doesn't even know much about the country. As an avid traveler, it's poor to compare one to another because we'll all have different experiences. Most travelers aren't open minded and already have biases before they even set foot in a country. I've been to the Philippines and Thailand a dozen times, it's not really comparable. It has its pros and cons but some foreigners love living there. I personally prefer the Philippines because of it's diversity and it's easier to communicate. But I hate the slow internet and the expensive electricity, not to mention the traffic drives me nuts! I'm also 1/4 Pinay so I think I'm a little bias haha but I feel a deeper connection to the Philippines.
You'd get traditional tapsilog at Tapa King. The only difference is that you'd have it at a fastfood chain, and as any other fastfood chain they give unique names to their products, so instead of simple tapsilog they'd give a trademark name to it🤣
I wouldn’t call that the Western area. That’s the old poorer part of Makati. The nice part of Makati is down the road and it’s a whole different world. It looks better than most Western downtowns. So if you wanted to stay in a more traditional area, well you did. And that food was a traditional Filipino breakfast too
@@quickthinker7582 he didn’t see any of it. They build hotels for tourists in Poblacion/P Burgos area, but that’s not modern Makati. Modern Makati is Salcedo Village and Legazpi Village. Also Rockwell, but that’s a small area
Visit the BGC area. There’s so many restaurants there where you can enjoy Filipino food and it’s the Western standard you’re looking for. Enjoy and have a great trip!
Mabuhay! Welcome to the PHILIPPINES the weather season moonsoon raining mostly this month, that’s way the sky is like gloomy because building up of heavy rain, in our country you experience that now not AIR POLLUTION.
Welcome to our country! If you want to experience our beautiful beaches here i would suggest these provinces for you to visit, Boracay which is common for tourists foriegners, but my favorite is Coron Palawan, El Nido Palawan and you can also go to Siargiao province. Have fun and take care. Enjoy the Philippines!!! A lot of places you can visit here.
ha ha I was thinking more like 100K new Filipino champs awesome!! Lets go Lets go Lets go fellow champs!! The people are so engaging (so many speak excellent English) and love to have their country promoted. Very proud and so they should be. Wonderful country.
finally a foreign vlogger found my favorite eatery Tapa King👍🤩 btw you are correct that its a reataurant chain that have a humble stat, it is safe and clean The eateries you want are called Carinderia (every day food) or Ihawan(bbq /Grilled) or Bulalohan( Soup based)
You know it's true love when Ilona is willing to go anywhere with you, Chai.😉 Enjoy your time in the Philippines, but come back to Thailand soon. Be safe & have fun.
Mabuhay!! And Salamat!! For sharing this nice vlog from Thailand going my beloved country Philippines, glad to see you both enjoying the tapsilog. You can also enjoy streets foods.I enjoy watching this vlog
Hi Chai and Ilona, to travel, is to explore the unknown , - i am shure you will have Fun and find lots of great spots ! i am excited and curious to follow your new experiences., and i will love it ! Thanks for sharing your explorings of some parts in the Philippines, enjoy it ! ✌✌💛
Just say 'salamat po'(thank you), to all young, old, and in between. You'll be fine. If the food is good, say 'masarap.' And don't let them hear you compare the other countries' stuff to the Filipinos' stuff too much. They are very proud of their own things. Happy travels!😉
In the first place its really quite rude to compare one country to another, right? Coz no 2 countries are alike. When you visit a country just try to be polite enough to appreciate what they can offer and dont look for something which they dont have. Besides, the Philippines got almost everything a normal person would need. Just ssying...
Mabuhay! Welcome to our beloved country...PHILIPPINES . We just hope you will enjoy staying here with our foods such as adobong manok, kare kare, sinigang na baboy or bangus and traditional halo halo
