I think this one undertook the biggest growth of the season for me. On the first listen I was so thrown off by the whole of it, but now I do genuinely enjoy it.
I wasn't sure about this one in the beginning, but it has grown a lot on me, especially because of watching lots of Luke Black interviews. I love Serbia in Eurovision, they're not afraid to bring something new.
This is fantastic. Definitely in the final. I love how the Serbian and English blend in here. I love the weirdness in the sound composition. It definitely stands out. This has to be my guilty pleasure song this year. Have you seen the acoustic version? He plays the piano and the sound is so much sweeter. However, it's just as creepy thanks to a violinist who plays with her eyes closed and robotic movements. STUNNING performance, both of those. I am very much looking forward to their staging. Tyler’s reaction is typical of people who don’t try to understand and build their prejudice on a few points such as “I don’t like this type of music so I’m not even going to try to understand”. If you are looking for something based on your preferences and you don’t get it, doesn’t mean the song is bad. It only means that you need to open up if you want to give a fair comment. The girl next to him nailed the bases of the meaning.
Because this music is not for masses and not for everyone. It's not to be likeable and comfortable. But it's surely art and something more than just a song

I had no clue what was that guy saying. Bring us new genre and not something that already exists? WTF? He must has been listening to other songs while sleeping. I agree with other comments that this is the biggest grower. I had it before among top 5 but after listening to other songs this song placed as my personal favorite.
Yes you are wrong... The song was written 3 years ago so there was no conscious attempt to "bring something extraordinary to Eurovision", he just won. The visuals are important to explain the meaning, not to enhance the effect of an "already existing genre". The meaning is feeling sleepy and lethargic and kind of feeling controlled like in a video game (a state he wants to end). No, he doesn't want to die. He wants to awake. But you guessed most of it correctly. And like I said, he can sing opera actually. See his song Olive Tree and the link I shared. P. S. "One dude clapping" in the end is cause there was no audience in the studio in this competition, only the jury and technicians.

Yes, my favourite Carlena did not disappoint - we always go for the same songs, and she felt the best song of Eurovision 2023, too! People either love this song or hate it. But haters don't matter; you cannot vote against a song. Those who love the song are evangelical about it, so I'm sure we will get Luke to the right place in the final. Cheers!

to be honest, i feel some of them listened to the song and then these comments they mention started coming in and it annoyed them. So this reaction feels like "here you go annoying people" which makes me sad cause I see Myrtle and fam as part of the Eurovision community(fans)

Honestly, having people with a musical background give a completely fresh take on the songs is great, because it's probably the best approximation we can reasonably get of how it will come across to the jury (performance notwithstanding)
Guys. Luka is a true artist! He produces the music, makes his own videos, it feels sad that you did not even watch at least one of his piano performances for instance. Give it a try.
When I was first just listening to the audio of the different songs for Serbia's national final, this wasn't a song I liked initially. Although prior to the show it had grown on me in the sense that I did find myself hearing his "Hello" anytime I'd read or hear someone say that! At the actual show, seeing the performance, I really enjoyed the performance and so was happy it won (even though by that time I think the song was only my #2 or #3). Since then the song has grown on me and I find myself listening to it. I've watched interviews and interactions with him and he definitely is putting on a character for performing this song because he doesn't seem anything like the persona he performs during the song! If you get the chance you should watch him and Konstrakta performing together at one of the pre-parties. It was neat to see! Serbia seems to like sending performance art now and I'm all for that! I liked last year's song and performance and learning more about what everything symbolized and this year has been fun to do that, too! I'm not mad at Tyler for not liking it. I'm not a fan of Spain's song this year precisely because it's flamenco and I just don't really like flamenco music, but I still appreciate the performance and the artistry and Tyler said that while he doesn't like the genre and song he still appreciated the staging. Which I think that kind of response is what you get from folks who have studied music or been involved in performing or writing music in some way. Maia indeed has many hobbies if we base that solely on her playlists she's mentioned so far! I don't really make playlists too often. I literally just yesterday listened to the "2023 so far" playlist Apple Music automatically makes. I was out running errands and plugged my phone into my car stereo and that's what I chose. It's mostly Eurovision 2023 songs and songs from 2023 national finals with some Stray Kids songs sprinkled in because I literally went to their Ft Worth concert last month! LOL
@@belosevickris3379 My first was Filip Baloš song Novi Plan Drugi San and my second was Nadia song Devojka Tvog Decka. Personally I really liked all the songs in Serbia’s NF this year and still am listening to them. I feel like Serbia and Finland had the best national finals this year because both I liked all the songs and they were fun to watch throughout…even if I didn’t always understand what exactly was happening since I don’t speak the languages.

Oh boy I will enggage with this video to say that had this song been an edgelord song it will be louder, like imagine Dorian Electra (I like them and Kaarija, but I could see how people see them as edgelords if they don't read the lyrics). little help: He makes connection with a video games where young people (and everyone else) are, artistically speaking, controlled by someone else and are just observers of all the horror happening around the Globe. He uses himself as a metaphor - (he only wants to sleep), as it is the easiest thing to do - to oversleep all the tragedies and to wake up in a better world. If you carefully look the performance - you will see that they are dancing as zombies as they are under anesthesia not reacting on this "world on fire" as he notices. However, the message of the song is quite opposite - we should all wake up, we should react, we should have more conscience and sapience that he calls on, especially to decision makers. At the end of the song he "releases" those "controlled" masses in order to become more active, more energetic and they together react - walk, make changes together. The "hello" part was written inspired by the Sims game, where the characters wave the player when they want something, instead of taking action, so he uses a parallel with people today.
Luke has something. However, I have to admit that there is a touch of "Look daddy, see, I am not wasting that education you complain about having to pay for" about this. Still, it is different, but not as cool as Konstrakta.
Tyler didn't seem to have any issue with the Sir Elton John tribute track from the UK last season (which was one of my favorites too, btw), but now Luke Black is not "original" enough I guess? At least be consistent about it, haha, but I really understand if you just don't like the genre at all. One of the only 2 entries I'm rating a maximum 5/5 for 2023, along with Spain's EaEa, so Serbia definitely finds itself in all-time great territory again, same as last year's iconic In Corpore Sano.

The beginning vocal really reminds me of Placebo. It's a fabulous song, and the synth so reminds me of another song, but I still can't grasp what it is.
Once again a decent song from Serbia, even though I preferred Konstrakta last year. He kinda reminds me of Melovin (Ukraine 2018). As of now, I see this around 15th place.

That's why he decides to sleep, because he prefers dreams to real life. He feels the presence of a demon on his shoulder. He thinks he will defeat them by escaping into eternal sleep. The everyday story of our reality full of nonsense and disbelief.
Oh, so I’m with Tyler on it feeling a little too artificial and constructed. But. Without having delved into the lyrics I always assumed that it was a commentary on the state of the world and maybe also how we’re in some ways getting more shut off from the human experience because of technology. I could be wrong. I haven’t seen a translation and am therefore largely going by the English lyrics and the visuals. But that would be my casual take.
This has some die hard fans but I’m not sure it has enough universal appeal as a song. For me, while the stage show is intriguing, I still prefer the studio cut for the vocals alone. I like it… but (at this stage at least) don’t like love it. Will it qualify? I don’t know. It might be too niche in style but on the other hand people might vote for it simply based on the stage show. If I had to make a call I’d say yes but not with as much confidence as I’d prefer in these matters.
I've since heard his own interpretation of his lyrics but they do say that he wants to sleep forever and get it over with repeatedly. That's where the idea of being social comes from. There's nothing about waking up when it's all over.
