ABOUT THIS PLACE:
Currently a food court, the Former Taman Jurong Cinema used to be a popular cinema in the Taman Jurong neighbourhood. Popularly known as the 'Diamond Blocks' for their diamond-shaped site plan, Blks 63 to 66 on Yung Kuang Rd were completed in 1973 by Jurong Town Corporation (JTC) to house workers of Jurong Industrial Estate. JTC later handed the blocks over to the Housing and Development Board (HDB). Between 2016 and 2019, the blocks were managed by HDB to lease out to HDB flat buyers awaiting key collection under the Parenthood Provisional Housing Scheme (PPHS) scheme. When the pandemic broke out in 2020, the blocks were used at temporary accomodation for healthy workers. The blocks are currently being refurbished. Watch this space for updates.
