I've had two, both failed. The first I bought through the company I worked for to use in the repair shop. At first it was very good. I was so impressed I purchased one for myself. The company's meter failed shortly after. The auto range feature was erratic and it wouldn't change ranges manually. I got it replaced under warranty. The one I bought failed also. All readings were about double of the actual value. When it works it's very good however....
I bought one of these meters and used it briefly before storing (without batteries) for some time in a cool dry tool box. Upon trying to use the meter the functions to the right of the meter dial all fail to work. After several attempts to contact them Klein tools told me that there is no repair service offered for this meter so since it it off warrantee it is useless and I am out about $100. I will replace this meter with a Fluke. I am unlikely to buy a Klein electronic test tool again.
Nissan tech here using the mm720. Love it! And the black backlight makes it easily readable. I’ve been using it for about 6 months now for extensive electrical diag and it’s the best bang for the buck.
With Klein you are doing both paying for the name and meter. But with fluke you are paying for the name more than the meter cause with Klein tools you are getting the best bang for your buck as an affordable meter. I have and own Klein as I do uei multimeter and ideal. They are also great meters. Uei multimeter is considered to us in the hvacr trade the fluke of hvacr meters although fluke has some hvacr meters and Klein doesn't fall behind they get the job done as well. So I stick to those 3 uei, Klein, and ideal. I include Greenlee and extech in the mix to make 5. Those hold their own all of them. I am not saying that one is better than the other just that they hold their own as far as meters are concerned.
I thinks what sets FLUKE apart from the other comparisons besides their long life span and accuracy is their safety rating. As one who value safety first, accuracy, and durability that's what make me keep FLUKE as the world champ. Even though I do think their prices are outrageously expensive most of the time, I believe it's money well spent. Now if all the things I mention isn't that important well it is what it is. I'm not saying that you're wrong about anything you've said I'm just telling my opinion. I also think the other meters you mention are great except uei , I'm not their biggest fan. I'm basing that off their older test instruments. Not their newest products. Thank you for such a good read it was time well spent.
Absolutely right. I've had only two fluke meters working in a Steel Mill for 33 years. The first one got stolen hence the second meter. There is no way Klein can match that type of reliability in a hostile environment where they make steel. You get what you pay for..
So I was looking at the mm700 for automotive and also the mm720 it looks like the mm720 dose not have the range bar at the bottom ? I really like the display of the mm720 but I like the range bar on the mm700
Thank you for the reviews, your knowledge really shows in the videos. Im not an electrician, but do alot of remodeling and tinker. I have a vintage stereo receiver. Would this be good for checking resistors and capacitors on amps and stereos? Any recommended meters for this purpose? Was also looking at Uni T 61e.
@@TheElectriciansToolChannel Hi, sorry I have this very meter, same model MM700 and another one the MM720 both were made in China, very clear indication on the back an manual. This brand as many others are made in China or other places in Asia. It´s a good meter, It doesn´t match Fluke Quality, nowhere near, have Fluke meters and clamp current meters that bought when I was in High School, now I´m 55 , those meters are accurate (I never calibrate neither of the) and still going strong,, same probes, never opened even to change a fuse. No other Meter manufacturer come close to Fluke, having said that, today I can´t afford another Fluke sadly so you pay 2 times the price of this brand for a Fuke, but It´s and investment for life, 30+ years of use and abuse (not intentional) they live in a toolboox in my truck, I never go to work without my fluke meters. Having said that I think your review is honest, but take a look at the origin, you´ll se they were made in China , Vietnam etc, have a nice day.
