@@debbieacook John 6:27-67. Unlike a number of parables that upset His listeners, Jesus doesn't change His tone here, or clarify things to show that He has been misunderstood. Instead, He continues to insist that His disciples are to eat His flesh and blood. In fact, the words used in the original language when He repeats Himself are even more graphic- He basically tells the people they must gnaw on His flesh like animals. When He speaks to the twelve afterward, He doesn't explain Himself any differently. Instead, He asks them if they want to walk away from Him also. It was never intended to be a symbol as the Protestant churches teach; that's actually a heresy that nobody had even heard of until the 16th century. Take it from a former Protestant who's in the process of converting to the original Christian faith.

We worship God who founded a religion by sending the holy Spirit to guide the church until His second coming. He gave them the authority to loose and bind and guide the church in right belief and worship as we see over and over again in the acts of the apostles and then establishing bishops in communities to guide them as shepherds to a flock.
