Ironically an example of a true green building. Most people don't realise that. The reason being is because less additional energy is used to erect the structure. Think about the carbon footprint and energy used in 'shipping' supplies from all over the world to erect a new " Green building ". The carbon footprint of many green buildings is actually massive. To be intellectually honest the carbon calculations should be measured from materials point of origin if one wants to be accurate., Not just where it was material is sourced locally. Think out it...
This is brilliant! If more companies could repurpose old buildings in JHB CBD as offices spaces then it could become safer, cleaner & nicer. The CEO seems lovely - very open minded & ahead of his time.
A huge thank you to David and LivinginSAtv for the fantastic tour of Ornico City! We had a blast showing you around and giving you an exclusive peek behind the scenes.
Thank you for allowing them to film this. I remember in the 90s before we had internet at home, I was around 13 years old and went to the library by myself. I took a bus that dropped me off in Gandhi Squared and managed to find the library, located a few books I needed, borrowed them (needed a library card) and went back home. No Google Maps back then but I checked the directions on my dad's physical map before leaving the house. The CBD was super safe back then. We used to go to town for Christmas to see the decorations and lights shows. I sincerely hope that yours and other businesses can bring it back to what it was, with a modern twist.
Really cool! I'm currently a student studying graphic design and animation. I'm thinking about starting an animation studio in the Johannesburg inner city after I've graduated i two years time. I definitely see the potential in this city.
@@joumaseworldhi, my boyfriend is also looking for a graphic/animation designer job. He has a lot of experience in 3D animation but all overseas experience in NZ and in Asia. He can also work freelance: agamiinz@gmail.com
Finally God has heard our cries,we are reclaiming our city. I have hope more companies will follow suit, thank you for restoring our dignity as South Africans. I'm tearing
Thanks for the wonderful work you doing, we tired of negative reporting in south Africa, most reporting about south africa is negetive, we really need this
Amazing building! as an Architect I love this, thanks for doing this David and spreading the news to grow these business and venues, I get a lot of Maboneg co-working office vibes. Much better than we-work also Kudos to Ornico for the big investment and creating an amazing space.
I think more businesses should go to the CBD and the municipality should start supporting them and get the CBD back to how it was. Johannesburg is world-class city
I have worked in Braamfontein in the same building for over 12 years. Upper end of Jorissen near the Joburg Theatre. I love it here - never have any problems walking in the streets and there are really nice shops around. Our building has several different tenants and is home to an outstanding art school established to assist and teach disenfranchised children art and creativity. This is a sponsored and charity initiative and amazes me how we battle to get exposure!! Rental is this area is so very competitive. I am delighted some companies are moving out of the Sandton area and coming to the city itself. Let's hope this starts a snowball!!
My father used to work in the CBD back in the early to mid '90s. His workplace was not far from the FNB offices. They relocated to Sandton after the millennium. I found it funny that ABSA and FNB remained in town. Surely they saw something that the others who left that area did not? I enjoyed watching this video because this is a place I have walked past a number of times, and had no idea that this business resided in there. I loved the tour! Lovely renovations that you did to it.
Brilliant, I'm so happy guys 😁 this has been my dream to fix up old buildings in the CBd, the nostalgia that comes with old buildings and make the CBD great again. Please invite me there I'd really appreciate it 🙏🏽
How do we South Africans improve the Quality of our lives: by having quality mentors, training, dreams, ask quality questions ie be curious, make better decisions and actions leading to a better quality life. Msg from CEO
This Ornico Building in JHB CBD is massive. Who would have known that there are so many collaborations spaces in the heart of Gauteng. Thank you for a cool historic show.
Entrepreneurship is a very crazy space to occupy for ordinary folks, South Africa needs more of these rare breeds to go-to the next level in terms of development. Soon enough you'll get more people who'd have faith to develop the CBD and the country at large
Bold move. Great to know.. The CBD has really gorgeous historical buidings. I believe there are some really good tax incentives for setting up shop in the CBD..
There are many areas in the city that are managed privately, and they are very well kept and safe. People shouldn't be afraid of investing in the inner city. 🇿🇦🏆✔️
This is why we need our city's safer an free from illegal foreigners. makes all the illegal activities go away. Thank You For Restoring an rebuilding our city's.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE DEVELOPERS OF JOBURG CBD .KEEP ON DEVELOPING JOBURG CBD .IT IS OUR CITY AND WE WANT MORE DEVELOPMENT IN JOBURG CBD TO BOOST THE ECONOMY AND INCREASE EMPLOYMENT .THOSE FOREIGNERS IN JOBURG CBD MUST VOETSEK AND GO BACK TO THEIR COUNTRIES .WE ARE CLAIMING SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦 BACK .
Very nice my only fear is that the remaining CBD buildings are in a mess so sir u see it's still risky to invest in these kinds of environment but well done to that company for taking a huge step by investing here
@@MasterPDA1982 I'm a white woman in her 20's probably with a spirit of Africa in my veins because nothing has ever happened to me in my 3 years living there... You're a MAN/masculine probably well over your 30's yet you still resemble the fear of somebody who would let shit happen instead of doing something about it.
