The FDNY SOC Skid Steer Truck is a 2004 Mack Granite Roll Off carrying a POD with a 2007 Skid Steer / Bobcat. The 2013 Skid Steer is kept in another Roll Off at The Rock (Fire Academy) The Unit is staffed by light duty SOC members or Rescue School Personal at The Rock.
The Trucks may be transported by back up companies Engine 35 or Engine 83 and Engine 260 and Engine 262.
The Truck also has extra helmets, gloves, eye protection, DOT Flares and Triangles & ABC Fire Extinguisher.
The unit is special called by Rescue Battalion or Chief of SOC to a incident were it may be useful such as collapses that need debris removal, warehouse pallet removal, brush fires, trench rescues, snow removal, tree removal, it has a hammer that also can be used to break pavement or debris.
