Very informative review - thank you for it. SM is clearly mimacing a particular Grand Seiko model with that dial. Would be interesting to see a side-by-side comparison.
THIS. Seriously though, it pisses me off so much when I see a perfect watch I want to get, but I take a closer look at the actual pictures and I see it's got ugly ass blue AR coating on it with no options for clear or no AR coating. Very irritating.
Got this in the summer sale for £200 stunning watch for the price I’ve watches that cost 30 times that price and this is just as good as them my only worry is the movement is very stiff to wind on other sites they say to never wind it more than 20 turns so been doing that and no issues so far general finish is amazing for the price it’s made me order another sanmartin in the 11/11 sale
This watch is a supermodel, she doesn't need all the accessories. Lose the cyclops, date, chapter ring & change to a butterfly clasp. Then you'll really see how stunning she is.
I have the mother of pearl version of the "other one" (with the jubilee)... I really love that watch. However, I do have the same problems as you with the crown, small and not that easy to engage when re-screwing it in. It's really fantastic to look at, that dial going from almost totally black, to fully pearlescent blue/green with purple and grey!
Wow! That watch looks amazing. I think the £240 is justified given the details. It looks way better than a £240 Tissot or something. However...£240 is still a tough pill to swallow for an AliExpress watch with Chinese movement. If it had Miyota9015 and they improved the crown, I'd buy one for £240
Do you think the Miyota 9015 movt is an improvement on the clone sw200-1 or the pt5000,both of the eta 2824,all of these movts are 28,800 vph; does the miyota stand out to you as a superior movt to a sellita,an ETA or a HK movt?please im genuinely interested as your statement augers this conclusion…..
Eugene,do you mean the clasp ,on the “presidential” bracelet not unlike a Rolex clasp but with the San Martin hexagon (to undo) the hidden clap or is there another iteration? I’m curious?

The only difference between this and a “true” President bracelet that I can see is the clasp, which, I think has a small logo only clasp (butterfly?) Tbh and a lil nerdy, the 58 and 59 diffrence is both the braclet and also the 58 only have 100M on the dial Where as the 59 have 100M ≈ 330ft :D Nice review mate! Keep it Up!!
Just got my sn059 a few weeks back, ordered the jubilee afterwards. Jubilee is better for me. - screw pins for both president and jubilee - president takes much more wrist presence than the refined jubilee. - I prefer jubilee version.
Jeweller told me best way to wind crown in is to push in and turn anti clockwise till you hear a click, then turn clockwise. This reduces wear and risk of thread damage. Question is this an east watch to read time, ie are the hands legible, I’m thinking of the Blue version.

I have the San Martian 6105-8000 homage with the mop dial. Insane dial. Absolutely glows. My wife calls it my “magical orb”. It’s a little blingy but who cares…got let your freak flag fly sometimes.
Watcher,have you seen the,unfortunately ,discontinued,white marble dial,i have the Rose gold white marble pt5000 no logo dial ,its the most beautiful watch i own,i consider myself exceptionally lucky
I currently bought one but it has some big QC issues. I’m currently in talks with SM and will remove or updated this comment when the issues are resolved.
I have the same watch, same movement but with the white mother of pearl dial, I hate it, it has stopped me wearing my other watch! I find myself just staring at it regularly, polishing it(I find the presidential bracelet need cleaning often) Im wearing it right now and im considering buying another but with the jubilee bracelet, well, I want the new SM ST19 chronograph first, any plans to get it in for review? I have the same issue with the crown and its a little disappointing because everything else about the watch is amazing. I have found that screwing the crown counter clockwise while applying a small amount of pressure until the crown "drops/clicks" then turning the crown clockwise and the threads catch a lot better, my thinking is that it could potentially reduce the risk of the threads stripping, hope this helps.
I too wish to buy the San Martin st19 chrono ,but as to this model watch,and a comment i agree with that early iterations of SM watches will be collectors pieces and valuable,i was lucky enough to not this model but with white marble dial(discontinued) that came with pt5000 but with a no logo dial…cheers,love this hobby!!!

I would definitely take this cyclops off.110%... Maybe the flutted bezel and the logos too?? But then it's almost another watch, right? Though, i LOVE presidential bracelets, especially when they taper. Plus i love the simple design of Oyster Perpetual, homage or not, mainly for the baton hands and indices. To add a MOP dial, really makes this one go high. So is the price, this commercial war of east vs west ruins the party for us, got to wait for happy days again... Thanks mate, nice watch, enjoy. I am struggling to justify the extra $100 over the Chronos version - quality is on par with the San Martin, plus it seams that the San Martin with the President style bracelet are now using a "hidden" clasp without microadjust, so if you want that you have to order the Jubilee bracelet. The San Martin and the Chronos use the same PT5000 movement, so the only difference between the two is the MOP dial, which as you point out is not expensive in itself. The case and bracelet finishing seems to be on the same standard, the lume material used is the same, applied markers, same extent of antireflectant material also on the cyclops, so it seems that the extra $100 you pay os for the "San Martin" brand name.......... which is actually negating the whole purpose of buying homage watches in the first place. I would love if you would make a comparison between the Chronos L6010 and the San Martin SN059/58.
I love the fact that San Martin is stepping away from the Mercedes hands. With the Mercedes hands you are wearing a fake Rolex. Now it is time to move away from the fluted bezel as well. This bezel is so Rolex....again, you end up with people admiring your watch, thinking you wear a Rolex and then find out it is some Chinese brand they never heard of. I like to have a watch that doesn't fake anything and can be admired for it's own merrits. Then you are going to wear a real San Martin with pride and people will like to have one too. Then we will reach the point the Swiss watch industry will be on it's knees again. 50 years ago due to quartz watches from Japan, now from very well made watches from China. They are already struggling and move to China for parts and still have the Swiss made on the dial. It's just a matter of time now and San Martin will become very big and the early versions of San Martin watches will become collector items with their strange logo's in a search for identity.
