Apparently when before they ship the item to you, they give it the latest updated firmware! Thanks for the video as mine is already updated with same ver as in the video
Hope you find this guide useful, I will be making more in the future. You usually need to do this firmware upgrade before changing the operating system on your Miyoo Mini Plus to Onion or MiniUI as a prerequisite. If you don't, certain functions might not work properly. A separate blank micro SD card is recommended for this process if you want to be absolutely safe with your own data but it is possible to use the micro SD card with all your data to perform the update (at your own risk).
Is it the same process with 256gb cards? For some reason I already had problems with those bigger than 128gb. I'm talking about Samsung EVO Plus 256gb and also Sandisk Ultra Plus 256gb
I wonder why there is no sd card file on the website anymore. I need them and can't find. I've tried to install onion os on the current latest firmware and failed, now I just want to have something working on the device.
it didnt work for me first few tries then I swapped out with another charging cable and the Rocket showed up for me!!! WOO!!! (If you having problem, u may also try using a smaller sized tf card)
So just to avoid mistakes: the use of an SD card formatted with Rufus on which we upload the file for the firmware update, is only used to update the firmware, right? If after this I put the SD card with the games back on I will find the same games but with the updated firmware, right? And if instead I loaded the firmware file onto the SD card with the games on it, would it still update everything or would I lose something? Thank you
Rufus will erase everything on your card, so it’s safer to use separate cards. The alternative is to have a full backup. Your idea to have your old SD card with the new firmware is correct if you just set your old SD card aside for all of this process.

If someone already has put hours into a game on the stock firmware and OS and they decide to upgrade to onion 4.2. Will the upgrade delete their in-game save files?
does this firmware work for miyoo mini v2? i cant find any clear instruction on how to update my miyoo mini v2 firmware so i can install new Onion OS 4.2 Im currently on Firmware Version 0314 any help would be amazing!
NO NEED FOR RUFUS Upgrade tutorial 1. Copy the img image file to the root directory of the SD card 2. Keep the machine shut down and plug in the SD card with the copy 3. Plug in the USB charging cable, wait a few seconds, and the rocket will appear, representing the upgrade (the charging cable cannot be removed during the upgrade process). 4. Charging pattern will appear after upgrade (delete SD card img image file)
Is there any possibility that if the rocket is not appearing the problem is that the card is bigger than 128gb? I have a 256gb now and would like to use it on my Miyoo Mini Plus. Thanks!

@@forthenext I was able to get it eventually. All set got onion installed and up and running. Question though, is there a way to quick save your game? And quick load? On the stock OS you could do it through hitting the menu button but now on onion it brings up game switcher
I dont know if you can help me, but my device just stuck on Miyoo splash screen forever. I didnt try to update it or anything, one day it just stuck there and i cant do anything to it. Tried to update it using your method and it just stuck in the Miyoo logo. tried to load it without SD card, still stuck at Miyoo logo. Anything else i can do to recover the device?
You can try the following: 1. Prepare the micro SD card in the same way as the video above. 2. Make sure the handheld is turned off and insert the micro SD card. 3. Plug your USB-C cable into the handheld while holding the menu (middle) button. Hopefully this might start the recovery process. Also you could try an earlier firmware from the website I linked.
@@forthenext hi, thanks for your reply! I tried that holding the menu button thing but its the same result. Indeed there are couple of firmware in miyoo website, and i have tried em all including the older version with a fix of blank screen. Starting to think this is hardaware but its so weird because the screen is still on, just stuck on miyoo logo. I gave miyoo guys an email as well, im not sure if they will reply though ....
@@forthenext unfortunately i tried that as well amd still no go. I got it from amazon and already outside of the return period. The seller kind enough to provide replacement but i do have to send it to germany since i got it from there, so lets see i guess. Im not sure sending device with battery over a mail will be easy but lets see
