Catherine I’m a garden center manager and we have bee hives in hollow pillers , the honey is never harvested and when they swarm we call the bee hot line so they get rehomed, I adore them and we often have little hitchhikers on us x

I'm in New Brunswick, Canada, and I am just in love with my garden. We had a few surprises in our garden this year. A chipmunk has planted dozens of sunflowers seeds around in 6 different pots I have around the garden. I noticed them coming up and they are about 3 inches tall. Then I saw them in another spot and another. He was getting the seeds from the neighbor and burying them in my yard. Little stinker! So, I may have a few dozen sunflowers popping up anytime.

I treated myself to a mock orange bush and earlier in April my husband bought me a pretty Magnolia tree. I’ve got veggies in the garden beds mixed with herbs. I have flowers and herbs on the front porch and flowering shrubs around the front porch. I’ve only focused on growing things outside for the past couple of years. The inside of the house is a JUNGLE of houseplants. I love how you learn about your plants. I just buy what looks pretty and throw it in the ground.

Could the no-dig meadow be slightly raised, say with some rounded stones, or a narrow plank? I think the flowers would benefit from a little more soil? Then they could out-compete rooted weeds.

You’ve been as busy as your bees…. Yes it is called Potaging or granny garden… when every inch if space had flowers, shrubs and veg all together…. My father in law always planted marigold either carrots as he said they kept the bugs off the carrots so they must be something in it…, my garden is slowly… very slowly … getting there nowhere near as lovely as yours though 😊hope your mum is doing well xx

Hello from Brooklyn USA! I grow veg in my allotment - there's actually only one person in our allotment group that grows cut flowers, and she does that because she knows she is often busy and doesn't want to have to worry about any veg rotting before she's had a chance to harvest. And I had to smile at what you said about tomatoes - nearly EVERYONE in New York City grows tomatoes, either in an allotment or their own gardens. I'm only doing the tiny cherry tomatoes this year, along with peas, bok choy, one lone pepper plant, a petite variety of carrot and some cucumbers. I also started an herb patch for everyone in the allotment to share (our nasturtium finally had its first lower today!).

Prayers for healing for your mom. I have 2 raised 4x4 beds that I’m trying to create a cottage flower garden. This year I’ve added perennials like Veronica, a couple of phlox varieties and lantana. I garden in Georgia USA zone 8 so hot & humid in our lovely “peach state”. Annuals include impatiens, zinnias & marigolds.

I have grown, stocks, night scented stocks, hollyhocks, foxgloves, sweet peas, gyp, mauvecpoppy, sweet Williams, from seed. I lost many but managed to keep quite and few. I grow tomatoes and potatoes with celery and herbs, all in a few beds.

Lovely vlog as always. I’ve bought Borage (heard it’s good for planting around vegetable plants), field poppies, cornflowers, a foxglove and a few alliums recently. Planting out my echinacea and trying to keep my cucumber plants well watered. Boy can they drink! Have harvested several already and loads of garlic bulbs. No idea how my new plants will do but I keep trying. Trying to control the Verbena in my garden and I have 100s of caterpillars 🐛 eating my Nasturtiums (better than eating my bean plants!) Huge 🙏🙏🙏 for your Mam’s recovery very soon. 🤗

Love your garden centers. Quiet with lovely displays. Beautiful plant selections for your pots and barrels. They will be so pretty. Bee hive is so pretty. Love your gable roof. I bought a big Japanese Maple, Bloodgood, at Costco. Went for eggs and avocados. ha ha At my garden center I purchased vegetables. Tomatoes, bell peppers and onion sets. Doing well. I treated myself to a David Austen Rose. Emily Bronte. I bought a bare root back in April. I think? Anyway,it is actually getting buds! I didn't expect any this year. Just keep going it's all we can do. Family is all we have at the end of the day. Everything else is just what it is.

I bought some Peony tubers, as I’ve finally worked out how to grow them properly- don’t plant too deep. I’m also trying to grow from seeds, some plants which can be used to dye fabric - Madder, Indigo, Weld and Woad. Love your roses and the bee footage !❤

Hopefully your no-dig garden meadow just needs a bit more time🤞🏻I’m considering doing something similar to part of my back lawn for a season while I save my pennies up for a greenhouse so watching your experiment with great interest. Could you add another sprinkle of seeds almost like succession planting for a boost? Wonder if the birdies had a bit of a feast on the seeds too before they could sprout. It does look like narrow leaf plantain, aka ribwort or lambs tongue, is taking off though - the pollen from it can be an issue if you get hayfever (it's one of my worst triggers & I get itchy if I touch it too). I often find an extra plant to buy when I go to the garden centre, even if it's just potted colour seedlings to dot around the place. 👋Kia haha from New Zealand.

So, I've always wondered, when you're taking out the trays with the honeycomb and there are bees on them, do they get squished when you put them back? I do love your videos and garden. I go to get mulch and come home with a car load of flowers, too! I have a potager garden... Have more flowers than veggies this year. We have so much in jars/freezer that we didn't need much. I grow the red okra and have a steawberry bed, also have a dedicated asparagus bed! Have added so many perennials this year!

My partner and I just put a pond in this week!! Very exciting. We have some water lilies, some reeds, and some pitcher plants (native to my area). Our favorite garden center also gave us a couple of free tree frog tadpoles with our water plant purchase.

Im from South Africa and we call it companion planting. I do advise one use crop rotation for veggie beds if you do no dig method. I think you need some silky chicks.❤

My husband and I have been spreading bark mulch in our garden beds this week. My hope is to buy some more flowering perennials this week to fill in some gaps, this too along with weeding the front garden space. So far it's looking fresh and ready for summer. Hot temperatures this past week, so getting an early start for cooler conditions works for us.

Your garden is looking lovely. Well done for taking a step back from things while you need more time. It’s so important to look after yourself as well in times like this. I have grown angel wings from seed for the first time this year and they’re absolutely beautiful. The slugs got a lot of them but those that made it are my new favourites. I’ve also planted some nemisia which are super pretty. I’ll definitely be buying more next year, I’ll have to see whether they’re something I can grow from seed.

Hello amazing young lady 😊 love your videos. Another way I plant seeds is toilet paper roll or paper towel roll. Cut those to size. Make little snips around the bottom and then fold in. Can a little glue. Everything can go right into the ground when ready.

I have chipmunks that usually help me plant my sunflowers because they steal the seed that fall under my bird feeder. Their placement is awful but I pop them out and move them when I see a clump pop up.

After visiting Canada many years ago I fell in love with lupines. I brought home a packet of seeds and planted them but they never grew. I never tried again. But, I recently saw a pot of pink and white lupines that were blooming and snatched it up. Why hadn’t I thought of that before?

I built a walking bridge to one of my flowerbeds. The bed is 8' wide and about 40' long. I call it my river of flowers. Filled it with dwarf suflowers . Take care.

It's purpose was practical in nature allowing me to cross the flowerbed without having to go all the way around or without crushing any flowers. It does add a touch of whimsy or romance as well.

This year I've intetplanted vegetables and flowers. Tomatoes, jalapeños, sweet potatoes are in the same bed as zinnias, cosmos and marigolds. I also have other pots of veggies and flowers scattered around. Since all my outdoor plants are off to the races and doing their thing, I've been treating myself to more indoor plants. I spent quite a bit of time at the garden center recently googling each plant to see which ones were safe for cats and dogs. I got a Hoya and a Peperomia!

I also love going to the garden centre as soon as it opens so I can walk up and down the aisles in peace. I search out plants I’m not familiar with and try to learn the names and growth habits.

Catherine my husband has a classmate from school who owns a wholesale plant farm locally. That man posted on Facebook beautiful ferns for sale which were “leftovers” at a great price around Mother’s Day. So we went out to buy some. WELL! He was closing for a month and said go get what you want, I’ll make you a great deal! WOW! For $60 I STUFFED my car! They’re mostly annuals, but my garden is gorgeous! I particularly love ferns and have a very shady lakeside home. I bought several foxtail ferns for $2. The garden center had them for $27, in a smaller size. Mmmm it’s so beautiful and I was abundantly blessed! Hope he lets me shop again next year! Continued prayers for your mother and your family. Be sure to take good care of yourself. ❤️

Praying for good health for you mom. I know personally the sacrifice you make when you take care of a loved one. This past week I was in the garden center and I purchased shade perennials- heuchera, hosta. I was inspired by your woodland corner and I am trying to create something similar in my back garden. Hoping it looks as nice as yours some day. ❤

Aw I love that you have a shady corner to fill, I need to tackle my corner at the front of my house, the tree has grown so big and its mostly in shade now, so need to make it look nice x

I have bought something nice for my garden this spring. A little wooden sunny outdoor greenhouse and I painted it bright yellow. Love it. And I grow a few sweet peas for the first time. I love trees and flowers. And you are such a beautiful, kind and lovely lady. Love watching your videos 🤗

@@DaintyDiariesI was never a big fan of the color yellow but as the years pass I have developed a love of yellow.. light pale buttery yellow at first but now the bright yellows are one of my favorites.. it’s weird how tastes change as we grow older

A couple of garden centers you might like to consider, all in Co Wicklow: in Roundwood, Keeleys hardware, it only had plants this time of the year, but it's great. In Glenealy Joleys, in Aughrim Van der Wel, in Rathdrum Tirlan and also Tirlan in Ashford. Enjoy x❤

I LOVE their pollen heavy thighs! It’s the first time I’m raising cut flowers in my beds. Last year was the first time I mixed perennial flowers and veg. Everything did so much better. Wish me luck on the cut flowers - fancy zinnias. P.S. Sending your mom healing thoughts.
