I’m a lifelong resident here in Oregon, and if you ever get the chance to visit the Portland, Oregon Japanese gardens and the official “Rose City” Rose Garden in Portland, it would be not only a visual paradise, but you would absolutely be on sensory overload as you take in the breathtaking varieties of roses present on the area. More than 10,000 individual rose bushes bloom in the International Rose Test Garden (IRTG) from late May through October, representing over 610 different rose varieties. The primary purpose of the Garden is to serve as a testing ground for new rose varieties. In the beginning, while World War I was raging, hybridists sent roses from around the world to Portland’s garden for testing.

Like others have said. This is not a private garden... It's a private park. I am sure this has evolved over many years with all the mature plants and landscaping. Most likely this was done by a garden designer . And I am sure there is a whole crew that keeps this looking so incredible. What a blessing to be able to live in such surroundings.

Hi: spending 4-5 hours working in the garden every day is not possible for everyone. Luckily I’m retired and I’m a master gardener so I do have the time. Working in the garden is not a chore for me. It brings me a lot of joy and is often a reflective time for me. When I visit large public gardens, I try to take away ideas that can be adapted to the home garden. Thank you for watching and commenting.
