MAGGIE I LOVE YOU! 💕💕💕💕 I tried for months to crochet a Beanie & every other tutorial or pattern I just ended up making placemats etc....I was about to give up...then I saw your RU-vid page & I went to your website & saw this pattern & it is so easy to understand (I just started reading patterns a couple of months ago, thanks to RU-vid....I started by writing down the instructions from tutorials in my crochet notebook....started with blanket stitches so I could refer back to the notes when I was creating) being able to read pattern has opened my eyes & I only got into Crochet last April after the pandemic started.....I have made this beanie in newborn size & up to adult male....I just adjusted my yarn & hook...I usually use a K hook, I don't know if I have ever used an L. I am going to post some pictures on your Facebook site....I like to use two different strands of yarn the look is so different! Thank you Sooooo much! 👍🏼😁🧶🧶🧶

I loved the tutorial. I'm a bit better then a beginner crocheter.......more like intermediate level and although I read through all of the comments to try and see what the age was for this pattern..... I read a lot of negativity. I've been crocheting for about 4 years now and I didn't even know how to hold the hook, count my chains......but some of the comments says you go too fast and they didn't understand....... Not all tutorials are designed for beginners. If I can crochet this hat then anyone can. If anyone finds this too hard to follow then they should be watching a beginner level and stop giving negative feedback. I learnt how to crochet by taking very baby steps and educating myself through the use of UTUBE!!!! Anyways, I just was wondering if you could post to my reply what the age was that you made this pattern for.???? Happy Crocheting.

Hello Meme Lord! If you're following the pattern, (which can be found here: www.maggiescrochet.com/pages/serenity-hat-with-pompom-free-pattern) there are instructions for making it in large and extra large sizes. It would depend on where you're adding the row. If on the sides, you would want to do 1 dc in each dc stitch around and join. In the crown portion, it provides instructions for adding on rows for various sizes. For Medium, Large and Extra Large: Rnd 4: Ch1, 2dc in first dc, dc in next 8 dc [2dc in next dc, dc in next 8 dc] around; join as before. (40dc) For Medium Size, skip to Sides. For Large and Extra Large: Rnd 5: Ch1, 2dc in first dc, dc in next 7 dc [2dc in next dc, dc in next 7 dc] around; join as before. (45dc) For Large Size, skip to Sides. For Extra Large: Rnd 6: Ch1, 2dc in first dc, dc in next 8 dc [2dc in next dc, dc in next 8 dc] around; join as before. (50dc) I hope this helps answer your questions!

Hi Maggie, I have looked through all types of how to make a beanie. But the thing is all these videos already know the size of the person's head. I need the standard measurements for the crown. I'm trying to make some for a cousin in Wisconsin. I have 6 weight yarn but they look like they're either too small or too big. Hi Jackie, If you find the video too fast, you can slow it down a bit by click on Settings (the gear in the lower right-hand corner of the video) and then select Speed. You can play the video at half or quarter speed, though at slower speeds the audio can get distorted. Hope this helps!

You know, I had the same problem a few times, but I steeled myself to keep up. My items may have not been as wonderfully perfect as the person doing the tutorial.... But after one or two times of that, I got better at keeping up and doing it properly too! Now I can keep up with more than just beginner level tutorials. *and I've only been crocheting a little over a year* So if you have a while to struggle through and not have a great product, it might work for you too! :) Just an idea!

If you are using the browser Google Chrome, you can slow down the video by clicking on Settings in the lower right hand corner (it looks like a gear), then selecting Speed and play the video at either Half or Quarter speed, though the audio may be distorted at quarter speed. Simply get the first bit of instructions and hit Pause!! :-) I have to Play, Pause, Rewind, Play, Rewind, and Pause at least 50 times for every hat I make!! Good Luck!!!

Would it be to hard to be a little nicer on your tutorials I like the projects you share with all of us new to crochet ..some of them your attitude needs to be nicer maybe it's just me but I have watched several of them where your personality is totally different from like this one
