Definitely the next tool on the list. I’m definitely going to test wolf products uses too . I’ve just bought an acre field here in Guernsey and using mainly Wolf products tending it by hand. Their products are brilliant you can rarely fault a German product pure simplicity 👍🏼🇬🇬
WOW------- super impressd with the tiller . but i grow all my potatoes in large wilko refuse bags so no need of the ridger. perhaps for the larger garden/allotment they should make the actual tiller blades at least 15 to 20 cm wider ?
Morning. I have been using Wolf Garten for a few years now and think they are great. I have around 10 attachments and 4 different length handles, I find the tiller is one of the best but on wetter ground it does get clogged up a bit.You have to be careful where you buy them from as the prices can vary a lot from different suppliers.
Hello Nigel. You can't go wrong with wolf tools . I have a load of wolf Garten tools in my collection I think they are one of the best for your money. I have two different sized ridges and never use one of them I must have ago. All the best Nic👍
Ah nice one mate. I got all these wolf tools and they been sitting in me shed for ages. I got them out yesterday and had a go. Brilliant stuff. Thanks for the review.. you are the real gaffer 😀
I borrowed some of these many years ago off a friend and I thought they were excellent. Well made and as you day brilliant if you don’t want loads of long handled tools sitting around. The click system is great simple idea but they really have got it to a tee cheers 🍻
Good review Nigel. I use the Wolf Garten system. Although, now that I am no-dig the only tools I use on a regular basis are the grubber, hoe and culti-weeder. Can't fault them and as you say, a 35 year warranty on the locking system! Steve
Hi Nige, I've already been using the Wolf Garten range at home for the last couple of years. They are excellent, I've got the soil rake, dutch hoe and the push pull weeder. As far as I'm concerned they are my go to garden tool range... I've tried numerous other brands (that I wont name) they were ok but for me it's the Wolf Garten option all the time. The tools that I use up at the allotment are just old knackers incase we get broken into. I don't risk leaving my decent tools up on the plot. Thanks for doing this , the soil miller that you used looks like a decent addition. Cheers Adam
Cheers mate, I do not have a shed and so I store my tools in the greenhouse. One handle to suit many is a big plus for me. In hindsight, the extendable handle would have been better for me so I could reach across the full bed width 😀👍
The strength and build quality are excellent. Interchangability cuts down on storage space and it is quick. Not many tool companies offer a 35 year guarantee on their products. Cost is something which you need to consider. I purchased cheap tools when I first started gardening (and DIY) over time, I have replaced the lot with more expensive, but quality tools, 😀
Thanks for an honest review! As you probably know I am a big fan of their tools! I got a few as presents last year and have ended up expanding my collection. The soil Miller is also my favourite - breaks up the ground so easily!
i'm waiting for the tiller to become available so i can get it for my early spring crusting soil. i prefer the 140cm alum handle i've been using with other attachments, as it makes for a very light manouvering. makes a massive difference with the soil rake (also alum) in contrast to a standard steel and wood handle soil rake...much more control and saves the back lifting a stick with a weight at the end in a horizontal position. thanks for the vid.
That's funny I was just looking at that tiller the other week but couldn't find any decent reviews. I'm very surprised how well it done on the bigger chunks of ground, that's more like my ground. I might have to put it on the Xmas list. Thanks for the review.
Hi Nigel, I’ve used Wolf Garten since I started my allotment 3 years ago and I’ve always found them good, haven’t used those two attachments though...🤔...haven’t used my hoe attachment for a while either which is why my plots so weedy 😂. Great review, the difference in that tilth was very clear 😊👍
I have an attraction to old garden tools. The 5 prong hand cultivator together with an Elwell Fork & Spade that I have, are around 90 years old and still in good order. With the current wave of no-dig trend, now would be a good time to acquire more old tools, ready for when the return to conventional digging is back in fashion! 😉👍
Hello Nigel, I went out and bought the tiller on the strength of your video. Very glad I did, it was what I consider pricey, but after using it feel it was worth it. Thanks for the video mate.
Thanks Nigel for the honest review 👍 really like the look of the soil Miller,( going to need something to get my soil good for next year, thought of a petrol rotorvator but this is a much cheaper or though more hardier work piece of kit ). just order one of Amazon with an 170mm handle. Cheaper than direct from manufacturer🤔. Thanks Robbo.
Hi mate. A well balanced review. Like the soil miller. Looks like it did a great job. I’ve got a Wolf handle and hoe so might invest in getting some more attachments. Take care. Nick
Dutch hoe attachment, or the mini rake, love 'em both on short or long handle. I've been converted to Clover, cheaper but much better than my previous choice.
I have looked at these tools before and tbh they look v.good but expensive and out of reach cost wise for me to be honest they are ideal if you can afford them though tbh !!
the extendable handle would be better suited to people like myself, nigel. ( im putting my christmas wish list in early this year ) lol.....................brian
Hi Brian, indeed these would be ideal for you. In hindsight, the extendable handle would have been better for me so I could reach across the full bed width 😀👍
Hi Nigel Well i'm going to be the odd one out I bought the Soil Miller some years ago and i will put it into my words it is absolutely crap we are on a clay based soil and you cant just use it straight away as it wont touch it the soil but once you have tilled it you can use it then but a normal garden hoe will do the same job and to compare the price Soil Miller around £30 Garden how anything from £5 The soil miller has been in the shed now for a couple of years So This is mine and my husband honest opinion about the Wolf Garten Soil Miller
Hello Pam, firstly...thanks for giving you honest opinion of your experience with the tool. Because our allotment site is on a fairly well drained soil, it did not highlight the issues that you have had using it on clay. This will help anyone with similar soil to yours. One of my favourite hand tools in my 90 year old 5 prong cultivator, but to be fair, the soil miller did produce a finer tilth in a quicker time....on my soil. As you have highlighted....the soil type and moisture content can be a big factor. Thanks again for your comment and enjoy your week....Take care. Nigel 😀👍
Not a weeder?????...its a tiller to break down the clumps of soil Having used it all season, I can verify it does work....very well😀 🌻Nigel.............MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
I garden in the Chilterns on heavy clay with lots of flints and stones. I have one of these and it works very well, particularly at this time of year when I am am preparing a fine tilth on my deep beds in preparation for sowing and planting.
