Nice one Nigel, my garlic has been in since October so definitely got a good frost and hopefully not rotten after all this rain we have had this winter, over 12 inches in 6 months. Will uncovering my beds soon so the air can get to those covered in cardboard and chop and dropping my green manure. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
I reckon the permanent debris netting cover has shielded some of the rain from the garlic and the polycarbonate covers on the carrot tanks has prevented any splitting for far 🤞
Old saying -if you fail to plan you plan to fail. Your plan looks great. Looks like you're in for a good season. We are in our change over period now phasing out the summer crops and starting to plant the winter crops of brassicas, silver beet (chard), peas & onions. Also now the wet season has hit and we typically get a lot of rain now through to May. Looking forward to follow your season this year as always. Cheers
Great plan. I'd love to be able to harvest carrots at this point. That sweet candle variety looks amazing. We can't get that variety here in the USA, but I did get some bolero which look like they might be similar. I like the taste of one called envy of all the types I've grown.
Hi Duncan, got plenty of work planned including changing the edges of the beds with slabs, but it is still very wet and dont want to turn it into a mud bath 👍
Really excited to follow you along this season, first year gardening. Sown my peppers and jalapeños, they are on a heat mat in my bedroom and I have my brassicas on my kitchen windowsills. My topsoil and compost gets delivered Monday for my new raised beds and I’ve got my tomato’s to start tomorrow. Will be hanging off your every word this season as I follow along. Hi Nigel lovely to see your plans for the season val has been talking to the building site chaps and they said they have a bin we can have for our carrots, as want to try your way , val doing all prep work at moment as i cant just yet, wish us luck
Ho both, hope you are keeping well.Would not be without the tanks now. When I set them up I have filled with manure and possibly woodchip as a base and then added old potatoes compost on top, also the polycarbonate lids have helped in keeping rain.out to prevent splitting. good luck and about time you got the camera rolling again 🤣👍
Hi Nigel, I grew Crimson Plum last year, really liked them, also I'd recommend Tokyo Cross turnip, rather than Snowball. Always makes me smile when I see your planting plan and compare it to mine, I'm quite jealous of the simple life at this time of year : All the best - Steve

Do give turnips a go. I never liked them from the shops, but had some spare room and a free packet of snowball seeds, so gave them a go. I have been enjoying turnips for the last two years, (only th home grown ones) and will happily sow snowball again this year.
Hi Nigel what's the garden planner you use? If you have never grown turnips before I always grow 3 varieties, Snowball Golden ball and Purple Top Milan. all good varieties. Steve Colwell

i lost all my garlic due to cats digging in the bed and a pot in the polytunnel. i'm now relying on an old shop bought bulb from my veg rack. aint life a bitch. lol..................brian
