I wish I had googled this so much earlier than now. I had wondered why my African Daisy didn't bloom anymore. So I've cut it back and I'm going to plant it in a place where it will be have some azaleas on each side and lots of morning sun. Thank you so much. I hope it comes back.

Thank you very clear video. I am taking care of my daughter's flowers while she's out of the country. So I'm noticing some dead ones I've been clipping back so I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right. Also I'm getting a little yellow on the bottom base of the plant is that too much watering? It's only on one out of six so if you can help me clear that up overwatered underwater?

First time viewer! Thank you for making my experience with you a enjoyable one 🔆🌻. My fiance picked out this lovely flower and I wanted to keep it pretty all year long. Thanks to you two, I have higher chances to do so. How would you recommend caring for it at the end of the season? Like, when to let it take the natural course of making seeds? I think hips look pretty too 🤗.

The biochemical explanation of how the flower dies after fertilizing is profoundly useful. Amazing. I just happened to stumble on this cuz of the daisies, but this dude has more to share with the world! This youtube may be entitled WHY YOUR FLOWERS DIE AFTER FERTILIZING. We need more knowledge, especially on "why things go wrong." In this case, my wrong was just a lack of information.

What does it mean when your African daisy’s have brown dry dead leaves at 1/3 of the bottom of the plant and light green leaves at the top and hasn’t produced a bloom in the past 90 days?

Hey guys, love the video, stay safe! I am hoping you can help me saving my plants please. I live very close to the beach, a dry and windy environment, got me some daisies and margaritas, I had them for two days and I watered them last night, but in the morning (soil was moist)some of the leaves are dry (a bit yellowish)or starting to (it feels crunchy), they just don’t look healthy anymore, did I water them too much? Look forward hearing from you, thanks!
@SpokenGarden
@SpokenGarden 3 года назад
Hi Sovi! 👋 Soooo sorry your plants are behaving this way. We hope they are doing better and snapping out of it. What you are describing could be a combo of some over-watering and possibly also some high intensity sunlight. If the nursery where you bought them from just transplanted them before selling them (which does happen), there could be some transplant shock as well. Are you seeing the dry and yellowing leaves all over the plant or just on one stem or side of the plant? Look for a broken or damaged stem on that side of the plant with the yellowing or dry leaves, or some possible insect damage. Hope that helps and keep us posted on how your plants are doing. Remember, you got this! 😉👍

@@SpokenGarden Hey Guys, thanks for the reply, unfortunately the plant is dead😂 I have no idea what happened, the leaves all dried out, the stem was green tho, till it wasn’t anymore. I have just purchased a couple more, not gonna touch it but slightly watering them at night. Finger crossed 🙂

How long until I should expect my daisies to start blooming again? I expected it to be a pretty fast grower but I cut them back like described about a week ago and I am so ready for them to come back 😭 lol. they came straight from the nursery and were so stunning, I didn’t realize they needed to be deadheaded and I was wondering why no new blooms were coming in. I am wondering if I missed my window or didn’t prune far enough down!

Hi there - first time gardener! I planted some "blue eyed beauties" a couple of months ago and they were doing really well. I was deadheading routinely and there was a plethora of blooms. Now my plants are all green, looking very healthy, but no flowers at all. Any idea what could be going on? I am in zone 7, middle of NC, where the heat has really turned up lately. Do you think they are needing it to cool down a but before they will offer flowers again? TIA for your time and guidance.

My plant is a couple of yrs old and has brown old growth when you open out the plant and look under the foilage. Should I just cut back hard. It's just I had it the perfect height and width but it is looking patchy now. Also if you are over watering does the leaves get a weird look to them?

I'm new to this since the pandemic also, and got a few of the african bush daisies, but now some of them are dried out from the stem. Should I remove it from the pot?
@SpokenGarden
@SpokenGarden 3 года назад
Hi Bekk8683! 👋 That is soooo cool that you have these plants! They are gorgeous and can really liven up any garden. 👍 If just the flower and it's stem are dried out, then we would say just cut this portion of the plant away, especially if your plant still has green, healthy leaves and stems. These plants can be evergreen and semi-woody perennials, but are grown and sold as annuals. They are hardy in USDA zones 9, 10, and 11, so their minimum hardiness level they can grow at is anywhere from 20-30 F degrees. We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions. 😉

My plant dried out over the weekend and looks like it is dead. How do I revive it in its pot?
@SpokenGarden
@SpokenGarden 9 месяцев назад
Sorry to hear this happened. You can check to see if they are alive, first, by starting at the top/tip of stem working your way down to the older wood or stem growth to the center of the plant, and scratch away the bark with your thumb to see below the bark if it is green colored or not. If green, then that tissue is still alive and it can possibly come back. If you see under the back brown, white, or any other color besides green, then that tissue is dead and it won't come back. Try the thumb scratch method in different parts of your plant and see where it might still be alive. If you find any live stem tissue, then definitely water it and bring the soil back to a consistent moist condition. Monitor soil moisture and wait about a week or two for any new growth to appear. If overwintering your African Daisy, you might need to wait until next spring to know if it will really come back. If it's hardy in your area and you don't see new growth appear within 2 weeks, there is a good possibility your plant isn't coming back. Good luck and we hope your plant comes back. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I planted an African Daisey and it flopped over. How to I make it stand up?
@SpokenGarden
@SpokenGarden 3 года назад
Hi Lori! 👋 Sorry that happend to your African Daisy. 😲 If it flopped over right after you planted it, there could be a couple of things happening at once. First, it could be transplant shock, which is completely normal. Usually any wilting/floppiness happens minimally and plants spring back pretty fast. If your plant was kind big and top-heavy with lots of blooms when you transplanted it, the flopping over could just be from having weight on top and losing it's anchoring in it's old container or location where you transplanted it from. Now, when you transplanted it, if you weren't able to keep a lot of it's root system and replant that in it's new location, there could be a lack of roots to provide water/nutrients to the top leaves/stems/flowers AND way less anchoring for the plant to try and stand up straight. Solution: you can take care of the floppiness right away by using a stake to prop it up and keep it standing tall. Then, watch your watering and be sure to let the soil get a little dry between waterings so you can take care of any soggy soil issues that could be contributing to floppiness or wilting. Oh, and be sure to keep it out of direct intense sunlight and heat for a couple of days to a week after transplanting so it doesn't have that heat stress added to it's transplant shock. Hope thi all helps and thank you for watching.
