Understandable! I was in my late 30s when I learned this, so yeah, it's definitely something that fits the you-don't-know-until-you-know category, lol 😆 I'm glad to have helped, and thank you for leaving a comment! Happy deadheading!

So glad I found you. Your voice is pleasing to my ears. ;) I have had trouble with many other females voices. I hope my daisies look like yours by the summers end.

I just planted some daisies to fill a gap in our landscaped area, and the instructions said to "dead head" the flowers to encourage more growth. I had no idea what that mean until I watched this video. I probably would have just chopped the dead flower off without following the stem. Thank you - it was very informative!

I would have deadhead the whole plant. The ones left would have needed it within 1-2days. That way the plant is putting all of it's energy into the new growth and new blooms.

Ah, yes. This is because you are brave and I can never get myself to sacrifice a single flower! Lol

@@GrowingHomeGardening It's hard for me too. I have deadhead both ways and for me I seem to have better success if I go ahead when they are almost spent. If not it seems I am deadheading every couple days. Sometimes I can not do it on my annuals. Some of those you give a trim, but you are sacrificing blooms that are yet beautiful and healthy😲. I surly did not mean for my comment to be negative in how you deadhead. We all have our way of doing things. Hope you have a great night. Happy Gardening!

@GrowingHomeGardening 2 года назад
Oh, I didn't take your comment negatively at all. I totally agree with you. I will be making videos with different ways to prune...for the brave, lol. And yes, with annuals, I know some people prune off all of their, say, pansies, even the perfect ones, for a fuller bush. I don't do it though. But again, I will be making a video at some point demonstrating that type of process. After all, for pansies, at least, the perfect ones can be put in a little vase to enjoy indoors :) Thank you and please feel welcome to comment with any device or alternative ideas anytime! That way, we can all grow together!

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. Got daisies first time this year on sale. They look a bit sad - yellow leaves at the bottom but plenty of blooms - I hope to rejuvenate them :}

Thank you, glad to help! They will probably be fine once they're established. Transplant shock is definitely a factor. Otherwise, daisies seem to be really strong plants.

Thank you! I believe these are the micro tip non-stick pruning snips from Ace Hardware. They work great and can last if you don't use them on stems or sticks that are too thick...like I have, lol ✂️👍

If I may ask, wat do you feed them to get these many blooms? I just have two blooms and its time i cut them off as they are spent beyond recognition, sighhh

I'm a really lazy fertilizer and really only fertilize in spring once I see new growth. I use Biotone when I first plant most of my plants. Then, in spring, I fertilize with either Plant tone or Rose tone. These are Espoma slow-release fertilizers. The Rose Tone can be used on flowering plants to produce more blooms (even though it's for roses) and the Plant Tone is what is usually recommended for perennials in general. Hope this helps! P.S. mine are completely finished blooming at this point, too! It might be a good idea to try adding a second helping of fertilizer once their popping, early to mid summer! Next year ;)

I dead headed Shasta daisies & saved the seeds. Do they have to dry before sowing the seeds?
@GrowingHomeGardening
@GrowingHomeGardening Год назад
To be frank, I'm not much of a seed starter, but I do know that they need to mature on the plant for them to be viable. This means if the seeds are still green and you deadhead the spent flower,, the "immature" seeds won't germinate. They need to stay on the plant until they turn completely dry and brown before you cut them off if you want to reproduce your daisy in that way. You might also want to try digging up your daisy and carefully separating it at its rootball to form more plants. But I would make sure they are mature plants before you do this.

@@GrowingHomeGardening Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. I grew Shasta Daisy's in a big pot last summer from seeds. This Fall/ Spring I divided the root ball into 5 clumps. Oh my they all bloomed. I've been weeding this morning, so I thought I'd cut the spent daisy & dead head. Well, now I'm so aggravated with myself for not leaving them on like you showed in your video. Lesson learned. I'm'm going to do an experiment. I'm going to sow these seeds in a pot & see what happens. With our heat & humidity most everything grows in SE OKLA. I'll keep you updated.
@GrowingHomeGardening
@GrowingHomeGardening Год назад
Oh wow, so you definitely know what you're doing! I can't get seed to grow for the life of me! But that's because I can never keep up on the watering the seeds as well as not having anywhere in the house bright enough during early spring to start the process. Hopefully, because you deadheaded, your daisies will produce some more blooms for you which you'll then be able to let mature. Here in Michigan, our daisies are still just starting to bud! Crazy how differently the plants react to different environments! I hope the seeds sprout for you! I'd love updates! 🤗
