I left an earlier message today about processing new plants! Now I have my answer. I like your plant tray idea! You can move it somewhere to protect other plants. Awesome!!
For the alocasia, I would add sphagnum moss to the mix or top 1 inch. Ive had the best luck in clear vases. Bottom 3/4 pon, top 1/4 moss and chunky mix. Now the only problem is light. Good luck, they all differ
I always remove the peat pots on My Alocasia and put them in pon with a resevoir. They do better. I hate those peat pots. Mesh pots too. They inhibit growth in my opinion. A good innoculant is Great White or TPS billions. It helps them settle in if you sprinkle a little on the roots before planting.
Hi Robin, yes I agree those peat and mesh pots are the worst. I was a little nervous as alocasia are newer to me, and their roots are very fine. I have some Great White so I will try that next time. 😊 Thanks for the tips and for watching! 💚
I've been wanting to give the green escape a shot, but I'm afraid I'll kill such small plants. The Helen Kennedy looks nice (have that in my favorites), and I'm also tempted to get a variegated frydek. Sigh! Maybe one of these days!
hi you should totally give them a try! the plants generally come pretty healthy and if something does go wrong, most of their plants are less than $15 so it's not a very pricey loss. I believe in you! 💚 thanks for the watch 🫶
