Omgosh these are so inspiring and pretty! I have a gouche set that my Grandad gave to me. I am so in love with the paintings, never look badly on your ugly ones. I love roasting my own old work but giving the younger me praise for trying! Love to see more paintings from you. 💛😊
So looking at your "ugly" paintings of the faces, I don't find them ugly at all. You had a very good understanding of light and skin rendering, even if the proportions and placements of features are off in the slightest bit. Embrace them, because if you see the mistakes, it means, you actually grew and learned. But these drawings are definetely not as terrible as you say they are in this video. Your paintings are beautiful and you gave me huge inspiration to pick up my paints again and start drawing more. And just remember: it's a sketchbook, so not every painting will be a masterpiece. But you created more masterpieces in this book, than if you didn't paint at all, you can be very proud of your journey.
I'm starting gouche soon and definitely am going to paint some mushrooms. Something about them feels "easy" to approach or like you cant quite mess them up. Nice sketchbook! Are you continuing to use gouache or have you moved onto new mediums?
I love all your paintings, even the ones you think aren't good, I think they're beautiful, there's something you said in the video about how when you use gouache everything is dark and when you try to add white It dulls it out, if you can give me tips on how you got over that I'd be very grateful because currently I'm Struggling with exactly that! When I add white to my mixed colours everything gets dull and not vibrant at all! How did you achieve such vibrant beautiful paintings?
thanks so much!!! the way i fixed it was just to start my paintings with lighter colours at first so i could gradually build up without using white, when u start dark you pretty much need white to lighten it out, so instead of doing that use the white/light colour of the paper as the brightest spots and try not to use white paint whenever possible
You are very talented. I will be watching your channel from now on. Question: Where do you get the pictures for the Gibli that you paint? I could not find still photos of the backgrounds without the characters. I just love love love your frogs.
