The big apple:
Nickname used for New York City. Called "the Big Apple" because there's enough for everyone to succeed in New York City!

This means that eating an apple each day can help to keep you healthy.
The apple of someone's eye idiom:
A person or thing that someone loves very much.
Example: His daughter is the apple of his eye.
To compare apples and oranges:
(also to mix apples and/with oranges)
Used to say that two things are completely different and it is not sensible to compare them
To bite off more than you can chew:
To take on a commitment one cannot fulfill.
"He's working two jobs and going back to school to finish his diploma. I'm not sure how he will accomplish this. I think he is biting off more than he could chew"
