What is the account you made and mentioned around 2:25 for short fiction? I didn't quite hear you and I don't think I've heard of it before. I completely agree that writing short fiction can help build your confidence as a writer for longer form. I written a few short stories this year and I have a new idea for a story that is the clearest than all the other before.

Maybe try writing graphic novels? I don’t know much about them, but that might be an interesting medium to explore. You had a really good 2023, especially with short fiction! GHOST STORIES! I’m so glad I found your channel a few months ago and I’m excited to see your writing vlogs in 2024! I love reading your short stories! Your prose is so beautiful! 😍 I’m sorry you left your agent, but I hope you find someone who better aligns with your goals in the future! It makes sense with what you want to do now. I know a lot of my traditionally published author friends have left their agents for various reasons. So excited that you will query MOTHS next year! And YAY for horror short fiction! Maybe I will work a bit more on short fiction in 2024. I took a break from it in 2023 to work on my PhD dissertation novel and another novel-length project, but I definitely agree with you about having shorter completed pieces that are ready to submit. I wrote one short story or flash fiction a month (at least) in 2022. Weird experiment! 😂 2023 was a pretty good writing year for me! Got traditionally published (short story in BEING ACE YA multi-genre anthology), finished multiple drafts of my dissertation and submitted it (one-hour supernatural drama-12 drafts total-that I adapted into a novel-3 drafts so far). Wrote a completely new pilot (first time writing horror) and drafted 2 chapters of the novel adaptation so far. Read 87 books (still going until the 31st). Writing/Reading/Other Goals for 2024: - Revise and query my PhD dissertation novel (Adult contemporary fantasy) - Maybe write and submit more short stories? - Submit to necessary TV writing fellowships and free/no fee opportunities - Read 100 books - Draft and revise my YA horror novel - Hopefully more sensitivity reading and teaching opportunities I guess we’ll both be querying! AHHH!! 😍 And the cherry 🍒 in your title! I’m obsessed! 😍🥰

I've been looking into graphic novel work recently! Some interesting news on that front should pop up soon-ish 👀 Thank you so much for watching my videos AND reading my work, wow!! It sounds like you have had an amazing and FRUITful (haha) 2023 too. Honestly I'd love to try writing and submitting a short fiction piece every month for a year at some point... definitely not next year though because of school lol! Querying is staring us both in the face BUT WE'VE GOT THIS!!

Literary leaning speculative as style is something I've learned about myself as well. Here's to 2024 and I wish you luck with all your endeavors (writing and new venturing into art)! 🎉🎉

I have to say that "Project ?" literally checked off all of the boxes for what I would consider a must-read. Fairytale? Diesel-punk? Inter-war period? Pulp adventure fiction? (Insert dated "Shut up and take my money" meme here) I barely even know what it's about, and it'll definitely be a while before I imagine that I will, but it's got me intrigued for sure.

I wrote a tiny little romance scene a few year ago. Then, I started writing my novel draft and tried to write romance scenes. That never happen😂

Okay okay, as a fellow content creator, -- if you're really interested in other storytelling methods and you're still looking for podcast guests, I would love to come on your podcast and talk with you about Game Design and branching narratives or systemic narratives in games. There continues to be a huge misconception that video games don't have deep/impactful stories and I'm really passionate about the frontiers of the medium. Also, I think your crazy, low-visual brain would still totally get it and you might like it! Hmu if that interests you (but obviously, no pressure at all :D )

hey, I'm wondering would my story be considered fantasy if there only was a little magic in it? Like one character "visits" another in a dream, and there was a curse made a long time ago that no one knows of until the end of the book...

I'd recommend looking into fantasy subgenres, especially soft fantasy/low fantasy/surrealism!
