Wow! I haven't set a table in years! At 67 young, I used to help my Mom do this every Sunday! Every little girl started this very young! We were taught how to be a homemaker & the proper way to have etiquette. Even as a little girl, going to church on Sundays, it was required to have gloves, hanky, "handkerchief" in our purse. Also, we as Black Americans aka "Colors" back then took pride in being proper regardless of being poor. We were also, taught that "cleanliness is next to godliness"! I don't set the table like this anymore bc I'm in the home alone to eat most of the time or in my room. Maybe I should go back to doing this even though I may eat alone....Tk you & Blessings Fumi ❤️
You should! You deserve the best! Especially living alone you should luxuriate your life 💚 Luxury does not always mean expensive. Sometimes it means intention above everything.
You should sis, because you have all the beautiful table ware enjoy …do it for yourself you deserve to eat on a beautiful dinner wear, beautiful table for lunch, beautiful for breakfast I mean enjoy all the beautiful things that you have in your home because at the end of the day sis when the Lord calls us all home those are things we can’t take with us….we bought them for a reason so enjoy them because somebody else will when you’ve gone home with the Lord . I love you all have a blessed day
When it is explained, it's not too complicated! Everything makes it's own sense. I do love these etiquette videos. They're fascinating to me and useful tips to have in your back pocket.
Whenever the BF calls me posh, I always say "darling that's called manners." I'm from a poor Jamaican family but I learned etiquette as a child (even though we didn't have Tuppence to rub together😂) and that has allowed me the confidence to meet and mingle with anyone in my adopted country of Canada.
My mother taught my sister and I at a young age how to set a table (that was our job during holiday meals and special occasions) and then once I got in the Military, I ended up working in the Officer's Mess Hall and they added new place settings to my skills . For our coffee cups and tea cups they would be on the table and we would flip the cup over and then at the end of the meal those that wanted coffee or tea would flip the cup up right and that let us know who wanted coffee or tea without overly disturbing the conversation at the table. The Coffee had a red napkin wrapped around the pot and the Tea had Blue (usually) that way they can keep an eye out for who has what pot and then they flip their cup over as we approach.
I went to a Military secondary school, and one thing I learned from there was the precision with which things were done. It really helped me as a Nurse.
I love that your King 👑 was in the background asking really important questions that we the viewers are not able to ask you while you’re setting up the table 😍😍😍👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Every Sunday my Mother would have us put out a full pace setting for dinner. Table etiquette was something that she felt everyone should be taught. Thanks for doing the video Fumi. ❤
Chai! See the way Aunty Fumi is getting us FUMINIZED! Wished this had come before the holidays.... My favorite part of the setting is the tablecloth. I have a weakness for all things crotchet, and this one by Mommy Vold is just exquisite! 😍😍😍
I always set our dining room table when we have guests. I even fold the cloth napkins into shapes 😆 My guests are always blown away. I just don't use a charger plate because I have square plates. I love being fancy, which is why I love you Fumi 😘 You bring the elegance and class.
Yess we looove Auntie Fumi!🥰 I just looove formal dinners/events. This video reminds me of a special moment. At 19 y/o I was working for a firm & they were hosting a benefit gala. I caught others looking at me throughout dinner but couldn't figure it out at 1st. It's then I realized they weren't expecting a young black girl (I was 1 out of 3 bw & youngest person there) to know these things & be so graceful. It was very empowering & honey I gave them a show 😂 THANK YOU AUNTIE FUMI for sharing. So many young ladies don't have anyone to show them or worse are told that these things are out of date. When in reality this is useful, epsecially in certain corporate or social networking settings. Can't wait for the ettitquette video.
Hi Fumi, I guess you know, I have never in all of my years used so many utensils during a meal.🤫 But, this is why you are demonstrating for us viewers, right!!!🤗 Yes, I have had people over for Sunday Dinner and now that I see this, I hope they enjoyed it and had the utensils they needed! I so enjoy your videos. Believe it or not I'm learning😂👋🏽
I wish I could give this a million likes!!!! I love this!!! Thank you so much Queen. I've always wondered about the cutlery settings . You are the best xxxxx keep em coming mmwwaah xx
Bravo Fumi. I am so grateful to have found your video. When I was growing up my grandmother made us read a book on table etiquette and I realize it is something that the majority of women and girls are not aware of. Thank you so much for your video. You always strive to educate us.
Aunty Fumi, you are truly God sent. Earlier today, it was placed in my Spirit to learn everything regarding Fine dining and Etiquette only for me to come to RU-vid to see you've already started a series on these topics. May God continue to strengthen and inspire you as you help and refine many of us to be the best elegant versions of ourselves.
I'm definitely sending this to friends. Even if we are just going out with each other, we will still feel, and look, great knowing which fork is which. This video is very much so needed. Thank you so much!.
Awesome tutorial fumi love it ,I was fortunate to learn most of this when I worked in the dining room of a very nice nursing home, but I know many people don't get that opportunity.
Oh wow! Thanks for the invaluable lesson. I'm going to practice setting my dining table to cement the order in head. My sister Fumi I'm forever grateful. Happy New Year to you and your entire family.
Hello, Mrs. Fumi, it is an amazing display, adored the crocket tablecloth because it reminds me of my auntie with her crochets table clothes, and napkins in jamaica. I love your necklace it's funny you mentioned where you bought it. I was looking at it and was excited to know where I can purchase one with my name or as a gift. Thank you for your time in showing us table settings and principles. As always you bring it.
Thank you for your wonderful videos. All of your hard work you put into the making of each video shows. You are truly a lovely and classy lady. Blessings and Love to all. 😊❤
Love this! I must say, I am glad we can purchase the cutlery set at IKEA my favourite shop going to order quick before it runs out. Thank you sharing this. Beautiful set up.
Fumi I’m from Georgia and I feel like I’ve known you for years my grandmother has us to do this when I was younger miss her so much. Love ya keep the videos coming helps me relax after work
Hey FUMI if it was you, your child, husband and 5 other guests and the food included dinner salad and dessert would you set the table with a total of 24 plates? Of not how many plates? ❤
Auntie!!! I have always wanted to learn about this and to my excitement you made a video!!! Thank you for sharing yourself, your knowledge and spirit with us. You are such a pleasure to watch!
😢This made me miss my mom so much. As a kid I thought setting the table was just fun. As I got older and started attending galas, business dinners and other events I realized the importance of what mom taught me. Thank you Fumi for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you so much for this lesson on how set a table. I just love it Fumi❤. You're just absolutely beautiful inside and out ❤ You have a way of making things seem so fun.
Mummy Vold had some great crotchet skills. Her table cloth is beautiful. My mother loved to crotchet. This reminds me so much of her. Thanks for making table settings so simple and fun.
