🎁My sister always hosts the holiday family dinners. Her choice. One year, she was unable to do all the things. She had to use paper plates instead of the China. She was apologizing. The whole family let her know it wasn't the dishes that mattered. She enjoyed doing that, but the family was expanding. It was a lot. But we gave her permission to adjust simply by letting her know we didn't need all of that. She resisted at first because she had her idea of what she wanted to do, but by the next year she had put in place an easier system. She uses nice paper plates and plasticware. She has an area designated for the items. She has her kids and their families over every week now. She can enjoy the gatherings. No dishes to wash or China to worry about. Just family to share laughter and a meal with. It's much less formal and much more relaxed. She can still bring out a China serving dish if she wants to, but I hope she knows now that she is our treasure, not her China.
@Melinda Plain and Simple: Aww, that is so true! Such a nice comment about your sister! I used to have family gatherings a few years ago. I would use decorative paper plates and plastic utensils it was just less dishes and simpler to have to clean up🤷 It really wasn't a concern anymore cuz it was just about spending time with the family☺️
Using plasticware and disposable plates might be good for your family but is horrible for the planet. Might consider that for future generations and animals... the world doesn't end when we die.
This is a nice comment. After reading the other comments I'd like to add my two cents. I think it's fine to use a little of both. I'm certain that a few members of my family do not care about the dishes. I also think it is so nice when members of the family offer or just help with the dishes!
I've been watching your videos for going on 3 years now, and one thing I'm always struck by is how helpful your messages are no matter a person's age, location, or lifestyle. I'm in my late 20's, live in a small studio apartment in a big city, and I live alone - and yet every video of yours I watch I take away a useful insight about living minimally and peacefully!
THANK YOU NATALIE for that important disclaimer at the beginning. You don't have to be the hostess with the mostess to bless your guests... must remember this when knee deep into the holidays 😍
I love how you keep things simple. So many influencers decorate over the top and do so many shop with mes and hauls, that I feel overwhelmed, stressed, and am so over the fuss. Love your channel. Keep these peaceful, simple living videos coming!
We hosted Halloween last night and I was stressing as I was preparing. I realized during the preparations that everything does not have to be perfect. The purpose is to be a blessing to my guests. I am loving this series!!!
Putting a hand towel size clothe over each chafing dish, that will help keep the residual dust off that works it's way into the cabinet! You have a beautiful and useful collection.
Really like that you went through BEFORE you're going to use things to declutter in advance. I try to do a nice purge right before decorating for a season, and then again before storing them away.
I love what you said about you don’t have to be the “hostess with the mostest”. Very inspiring! Appreciate your tips, and walking through your thought process.
I appreciate your chatty, thinking out loud moments - it helps thinking of questions to ask when going through my own items. Those rechargeable candles are amazing!
Since I moved into my new house, I decluttered tremendously. I’m definitely into minimalism. I decided to only decorate for fall and Christmas. I’ve got one bin for fall and two for Christmas. And now that my home is practically done being decorated, I plan to not add to my collection for awhile. Honestly, I just feel less stressed and have more time with family.
Your videos are always so inspiring and make me so exciting about home making instead of stressed! I would love it if you and your mom talked about post hosting cleanup. I don’t want to miss time with my guests doing dishes, and when everyone leaves I’m tired, and then before I know it it’s a week later and there’s still a dirty tablecloth out driving me nuts. If there are things you do before guests even arrive that makes cleaning up easier that would be even better! Thank you for all you do!!
I love your videos! You always inspire and give me excitement for my own home, not in a “I need to buy everything she has” way, but just in an awesome inspirational way that makes me want to work with what I have and be neat, cozy, and creative! I wish I had a friend like you ! God bless ❤
You have really🎁 encouraged me to go ahead and donate my old tablecloths and look for one new one that will take me through all the holidays. Also my chargers. No need really. And some dishes I bought from a hotel liquidator. I am no longer the host since I downsized from my last home. I don't put up a tree at all. I used to have a quirky tree that got stolen, so 🤪 nothing these days. Now I spend my holidays doing spa time, traveling, baking and doing crafts for fun.
You have no idea how much I enjoyed todays video and the inspiration you’ve given me for hosting holiday meals this year! It’s a really neat take on hostess ware in a simplified manner
🎁 when we went full time rv’ing I had to give up my Crystal serving ware and holiday ware but it was worth it in the long run but I did enjoy sorting through your stuff with you! Thank you!
I always love seeing other peoples hostess ware. I’m trying to grow my collection now that I have a home big enough to hold my family & friends! Would you possibly think about doing a favorites blog post for your hostess ware? I spied two nesting trays that are divine & would be so fun to add to my collection! Can’t wait to watch the video of you & your beautiful mama answering hosting questions!
🎁 What a gentle start to the holidays. Your attention to preparing and executing organization is so appreciated for my ADHD brain. Thanks for bringing calmness!
We don't host often. I think I should give a once over on our linens and dishes too. How did we end up with so many good and fun items. Thanks for the calmer videos. 🎁
I used to have Christmas dishes and Christmas goblets and I actually got rid of it all. The best thing I did was go White dishes or like you're saying go simple and you can have fun with accents. That is one of the best advice thank you for sharing that because it is so true. Plus when I realized I had all the Christmas dishes they're fun but it can be an overwhelming when you're trying to add decoration and if everything is special nothing is special. Thank you Natalie
🎁 I would love to hear you and/or your mom’s tips and ideas for scheduling family gatherings as your children grow up and start their own families and how you balance individual family time with larger family time.
Awesome job! Terrific organization! Beautiful home! I'm sure that U r the most welcoming Hostess! It's NOT about the Dishes or even the Food! It's All about the Luv! Opening up Ur home 4 Fellowship is the ultimate Luv of Jesus! 👏👍💞✝️ Blessings 2 Ur whole family! 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
I love how you don’t go out & buy new things for the holiday season unless you absolutely need it! It’s so refreshing. It gets old when influencers buy new stuff every year.
“Liked” the video before it even started playing because I know I’m gonna love it! I’ve been binge watching your past Christmas content this week, so excited for a new video!
🎁 yay...I finally found the gift emoji! Lol Natalie, this video was so helpful. I am desperately looking for more simple ways to host the holidays. I love having friends and family over. It's just so much work! I'm wondering what glassware you use? We have China, crystal, silver, etc Getting it all out, making all the food, ironing tablecloths, decorations, etc just seem to be so much work. I'm exhausted by the time dinner rolls around. Can u make a video of how you and your family makes it all easier? Your table and chairs are GORGEOUS 😍 I know they are special because they were your Grandma's, but they are also so beautiful! Thanks for a great video! You always make my day so happy and peaceful 😊
We are home alone on Christmas day and atm having the house redecorated by a lovely painter who turned out to be related to us. we are going to have another big declutter after Christmas. Jeff might be starting chemo in the spring and we think a good declutter would be good for us. I love your new home and watching you and your family, but youtube doesn't seem to be notifying us like it used to. I am a crafter so I would love to declutter my craft room that I share with my hubby and his train set I noticed he has ordered a big castle for his train set so I think a big craft destash is in order. Sending you and your family lots of love and joy Chel and Jeff XXX
Thanksgiving is my favorite, because it’s a holiday focused on gratitude, even though all days are good days to focus on gratitude! And of course yummy food! #premierefam 💛
Thank you for sharing Natalie! I need to learn how to relax and enjoy the holidays. I’m one of those who worries about what people will think if everything is not perfect. Asking for help is not one of my strong points either. This year I’m going to try harder to worry less and enjoy more. 😊
🎁 This video comes at the perfect time!! We will be spending November and the beginning of December/Advent going through our basement storage 😱 thanks as always for the motivation and encouragement!!
This will be my first year hosting Thanksgiving! Lived here for 4 years but we've got 2 young kiddos 3 and under, so our moms or grandma's have always hosted before. My husband and I have had both our grandfathers on our mothers' sides pass away. So we wanted both grandma's to feel loved with us, hosting as much of our family as we can. I have next to no serve wear and know I'll be dollar tree shopping soon. Luckily I've asked each household that's coming to bring a dish they love to make. I have yet to know if we're going to do turkey in the smoker or the oven. And we might just do paper plates and plastic silverware, I can barely remember a holiday where that wasn't the norm. But I'm feeling more secure about the whole event watching how calmly you are going through your preparations.
🎁🎁🎁 Natalie, always so organized! I remember doing lots of things for the holidays. Enjoy it while you can. As you get to your later years, you can relax and let the younger generation take over. It is a lot of work, but worth it! I loved it and have great memories! Thanks for your inspiration!👍🥰💜
I always love your videos. You have such a sweet calming voice. I love watching the decluttering aspect and your personality as to what serves your family best. I started watching way before your decluttering journey and then when you started it I was also beginning mine. Thank you so much for all you do!!
You are so talented. Thanks for the inspo...starting early to prep for the holidays is so smart is helping things go smoother and having less stressful moments👏😍
Thank you for this! I had it on as I was going through the much dreaded task of cleaning out drawers during a mice infestation.... your calming encouragement helped so much!
I'm a few days late, but always enjoy seeing all of your videos. I clicked like when I saw your gingerbread mug. I've been wanting that mug since it first came out a few years ago. Mine came broken in the mail😢. I love all of your content!! 🎁❤
I am hosting my husband's side of the family again for Christmas this year. We hosted them for the first time last year when we had a 4 year old and 7 months old it was stressful. Now with both my boys older I am so excited to host. I need to go through all my items and see what I have and what I need.
#premierfam My absolute favorite holiday is Christmas! I love baking special treats, buying special gifts for my family, decorating my home and celebrating Jesus! 🎄 Merry Christmas!
🎁 Sooo nice to declutter with you, wonderful Natalie💕 I really like your relaxed clean and declutter behavior and it's always a big motivation. By the way, love the videos when you 're singing (alone or with your sisters) 🎶❤️ Send you lots of love from Germany 🇩🇪🤗
I get so excited when I see your videos! I look forward to each Tuesday and today is no different! I havent even watched it yet but just had to let you know you are a piece of sunshine to my day and I am happy to call you a friend even if you don’t know me!!
🎁 Yes! My 2022 New Year’s Resolution was to do less. It was a GAME CHANGER! Committing to doing less forced me to become minimal in my activities; it made me really looking at the activities and people in my life and be brutally honest about where I want my time to go. In doing less, I found I actually got MORE done of the things that are really important to me.
🎁 I absolutely love your channel, Natalie! Its always so calming to me. I always feel better and more motivated after watching. Thank you for doing what you do! ❤
Because I love Thanksgiving so much, I want to make it the most beautiful, rich holiday so I set up my tree beforehand and mix in both thanksgiving AND a few touches of winter/Christmas decor! It’s the best!
#premierefam Christmas with my little one is the best 🤩 I am already wanted bc to decorate and I don’t mind if Thanksgiving comes and goes. It’s not about the presents or anything, in fact in the few recents years we made it a point to do no presents and with that pressure off - Wow! The joy of being together is so much greater!!
16:30 PLEASE DO!! 🎉 I would love to know all things beginning hosting for family! I am the oldest and have recently found the love of hosting and would love to know where to start and everything that goes along with starting to host events with family!! ❤
Bonjour mes vacances favorites sont celles avec ma famille que ce soit à Noël ou bien en été , le plus important c est de partager de bons moments et des souvenirs de ceux que l on aime . A bientôt Caroline 🍂🍁
Beautiful! This is very encouraging! I love your channel, it is the best! You are in your way to a million subscribers! You are my secret sister that I get to have coffee with every Tuesday morning! Just real life all the time, we think so much alike. I'm looking forward to your visit and question answer session with your mom. Love her too!!
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been able to fully catch up, but just popping in to say hi to some of my fave familiar faces! I always love your holiday related videos. Already getting me excited to get my clean coming up!!
So excited to watch the video with your mom. You guys are awesome hostesses! I am so excited for your holiday series! I’ve been really made aware lately how overwhelmed I am by all the things and thinking about how can things be easier
🎁 such a wonderful video!! I am currently 36 weeks pregnant so been slowly trying to do little bits of Christmas preparation as I await for our little ones arrival. But definitely been telling myself to just enjoy this season of life currently and what is to come and not to worry so much about the fine details or things I usually do during the holidays ❤❤
